I am 67 years old (female) and have sagging skin, deep wrinkles around my mouth and forehead. I cannot get a facelift (according to doctor); can a chemical peel help to look younger?
Answer: Chemical Peel and Age If you are at the age you would need a facelift but cannot undergo surgery, laser resurfacing with co2 laser would be very useful for you. It will give some lift and really clear 10-20 years of lines and wrinkles. It will make the skin like brand new. This requires a meticulous laser surgeon with skill and should be something you really only will need to do once in your lifetime at this point, so I would go to the best cosmetic dermatologist. Do not compromise your care for cost or distance. I am doing a clinical trial now on a multitude of lasers and am seeing amazing results with newer technologies with no complications. This type of laser has downtime however, but looks amazing once healed if done properly. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: How much younger can a chemical peel make you look? Chemical peels help to resurface the skin. In English, this means chemical peels help improve the quality of the skin. You usually see improvement in fine wrinkling, pore size, and pigmentation. Imagine a peel is like ironing a sheet. It helps smooth the sheet. People can also resurface the skin with some lasers like CO2 or Herbium. For a chemical peel to give much improvement it should be done by a MD, and it will take about a week to fully heal.A peel does not tighten the skin much. If you have deep wrinkling or volume loss, neither of these will be improved by a peel. If you are not a candidate for a facelift, other options may help improve your appearance more, like botox and fillers. I am a fan of chemical peels for improving the health and appearance of the skin. I would consult with your doctor to see what he/she feels would help you best.

Answer: Chemical Peels Aging and sun damage are often associated. Improving sun damage such as pigmentation should therefore help your appearance. Chemical peels will not address redness (telangectasias), nor will they significantly tighten the skin.
