I had botox in my jaw for tmj 7.5 hours ago and I feel like my throat is a little tight and my tongue swollen. Is this normal?

I had botox done in my jaw today to help relieve some clenching in my jaw. My tongue is feeling swollen and my throat a little tight I can swallow but feel uncomfortable and it's making me worried that I may be having a reaction to it. If it was going to be a serious reaction would it have already happened or will this get worse?

are not improving, please see a specialist as soon as possible.

What you're experiencing may be a reaction to the Botox, or may be a reaction to something else you have come into contact with in the past 7.5 hours.  You should definitely be seen by a physician urgently to evaluate and treat you for angioedema.

An allergic reaction to Botox would be highly unlikely, but not impossible. Due to the symptoms you have reported, a visit to your nearest emergency department or urgent care center would be advised.

Botox CAN migrate and cause side effects such as yours. It can effect swallowing and breathing and can even lead to death. If you still have these symptoms, please go to the nearest emergency room.           jlr
