I never experienced the initial hair shedding from Minoxidil. Will I experience hair shedding now that I quit using the product?

I used Minoxidil 5% foam for women once/ day for 2+ years. It didn’t seem to work, I never even experienced the initial hair shedding. I recently weaned myself off Minoxidil, by applying every other day, then every two days, and so on. My question is, since Minoxidil didn’t seem to work, and I never had an initial shed, will I experience hair shedding now that I am completely off the product?

You will experience shedding if the minoxidil was truly helping your hair growth. If it was not doing anything to help your hair I would not expect any accelerated phase of shedding.

Consistency is the key when it comes to slowing down or stopping hair shedding.  The technical term is "Effluvium" and your best bet is to limit changes to your scalp.

If minoxidil truly did not help you, you won’t get shedding when you stop. If it did help you, even a bit, you’ll experience some shedding. You’ll know for sure which was the answer by 9 months.
