In most cases, patients can start walking at two weeks and increase their activity slowly. Light lifting at four weeks is possible. I tell patients to limit engaging their core muscles for the first two months to lower the risk of disrupting the plication sutures.
Thanks for the question. After 4-6 month operation area is totally healed and yes you can walking, exercising and also do other sport activities. I wish you all the best.
Ultimately, you should only follow your surgeon's instructions, but I typically like my patients to move cautiously around the house the very next day to avoid blood clots. That doesn't mean exercising or elevating your heart rate. Most patients can do easy walking around 2-3 weeks and more strenuous activity at around 6-8 weeks, all depending on how they are healing with my approval. Everyone is different so that is why I recommend you talk with your surgeon and follow her/his post-op instructions carefully. Last thing you would want to do is push yourself too quickly and undo all the work that has been done and lengthen your recovery time. ac
Congratulations on having undergone the tummy tuck procedure. The only resource that you should heed should be your plastic surgeon, who knows exactly what was done, how you are progressing, what you are planning on doing ( in terms of exercise etc.) and is ultimately responsible for your care. Be careful about advice you receive online which may be conflicting/confusing.Best wishes.
I allow my patients to walk within a few days after surgery but exercise level activity should wait for at least 4 weeks so as not to strain the muscle repair.
Thanks for your question. I advise my patients to avoid lifting anything even vaguely heavy for the first 4 weeks after surgery. My patients wear an abdominal binder to help decrease swelling and give truck support for the first 4 weeks as well. Your recovery will depend on how much work your plastic surgeon needs to do during the procedure - whether you need a hernia repair at the same time or the extent of your skin and fat resection. I usually permit light walking on a treadmill - all going well - after the 2-3 week mark. The best person to answer your question would be the plastic surgeon who will be performing the surgery. You do need to give your body the chance to recover after the surgery and not push things too hard too soon.I hope this helps.
Thank you for your question. A personal exam andconsultation is always best. That said at three weeks most patients are back at work and many can start exercising again. However, each patient is different so you must take the advice of your surgeon who can monitor your progress. Please read the link below which describes what to expect after a tummy tuck.Be sure to consult a plastic surgeon who is certified by theAmerican Board of Plastic Surgery, experienced in your procedure, and who hasan excellent reputation in your community.
