Is accutane really permanent?

I've heard that many people regained their acne 2 years after the treatment, more or less, and if not, their oily skin came back with a few breakouts, is this true? is it rare or common?

Accutane can take 20-24 weeks to work. In the beginning some people will have a
flare of their acne. Sometimes we will
add in antibiotic or steroids if the flare is excessive. Hang in there. Most
patients get great results and their skin is changed for the better. Nothing is
a guarantee but of all the medications available, Accutane usually will provide
the longest lasting results.

The story you heard about many people regaining their acne two years after treatment is not true.I have used this medication for years and my experience is that repeat treatments are the exception, not the rule.I have many patients who come to see me years later for other issues and say how satisfied they were with the Accutane treatment and how it solved their acne problem for the most part.
