Am I a good candidate for Accutane? (photos)

Question

Will it also remove the blackheads and possible scars? It says that it must be used for severe acne only, yet my dermatologist recommended it, what chances do I have of getting kidney, liver and heart problems? Will the side effects be obvious even if I use moisturizers? I am 18 but I have to hide it from my parents since they are too worried about the risks.

Acne is the most common skin disease and it can cause scars and be very painful.  If you have been suffering from breakouts like this for more than 6 months and over the counter BP products are not providing results then I would suggest an antibiotic first.  If after a month or two you don't see improvement, then yes Accutane would be recommended.  Accutane is a vitamin A deriviative and provides excellent results in taking care of the acne long term if not forever.  If you are beginning to scar, then I would recommend it right away.

Hi, If your acne leaves scars behind, it may be a good idea to get on the Isotretinoin. With lower dose regimens available, the side effect profile is pretty favourable.Do discuss the options for the lower dose regimen with your derm.Good luck!
