I am skinny girl, 120 lb 5'6. I always had these very deep dimples or scars on my butt. I am not sure if they are cellulites or what, but I would really like to get rid of them. What kind of procedures are recommended for me?

Answer: Sculptra or Bellafill "Thank you for sharing your pictures. Given your description, the dimples on your butt might be related to various factors, and determining their exact nature is crucial. Sculptra or Bellafill injections can be effective in treating certain skin depressions. However, a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon would be necessary to precisely diagnose the issue and recommend the most appropriate treatment for you. "

Answer: Treatment of cellulite Treatment of cellulite has historically been challenging, and a significant number of approaches dried don’t give quality outcomes. Understanding what causes cellulite in the first place can help understand why certain treatments failed to give good results. The problem is that of connective tissue which anchors the skin it to the underlying muscle fat shot. in some cases, this connective tissue, which has very little pliability, or stretchiness, is short in comparison to the thickness of subcutaneous fat. When that’s the case, indentations occur similar to furniture, made with tufted buttons, pulling in the fabric. This also helps explain why volume restoration alone will not fix the problem because injecting volume with treatments like the use of fillers or fat transfer fails to release the connective tissue, which is causing the primary problem. Releasing the connective tissue can be done with procedures referred to as Subsicion. That word basically means to cut below the skin. There is a relatively new device that does this better than any other device I’ve seen previously. The device is called. Aveli. Treatments with this device seem to give quality lasting results with smaller incidence of complications or other negative consequences. To get the best long lasting results, grafting, small amount of fat in conjunction with the treatment using Aveli is probably the best option. Finding providers who have sufficient skill and experience may take some work.Cosmetic surgery procedures, finding the right provider is one of the most important variables and I recommend patient put a significant effort in vetting providers. Do this by having multiple in person consultations. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients, who had similar body characteristics, and had the same treatments the providers recommend. an experience provider should have no difficulty showing you with the before and after pictures of at least 50 patients for commonly performed procedures. Always ask what the timeframe is and when after pictures were taken since results can often change over time. To see pictures representing final results after pictures should typically be taken around six months from the date of the procedure. The treatment of cellulite, especially the way I described and recommended above, works best for individuals who have a few deep cellulite pockets in comparison to those who have diffuse, overall cellulite on their entire buttocks and thighs. In that sense, you are a fairly ideal candidate for this treatment. I think the next step would simply be to find a provider who has the scale and experience to deliver quality outcomes on a regular basis. Attempting to treat this, with Fillers or a fat transfer, alone, will most likely lead to disappointment. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
