Function and cosmetic complications - can this be fixed? (photo)
I had genetic heavy eyelids, no functional issues, at 26 I noticed some upper lid drooping. I saw a general plastic surgeon in 2018 (only 4 years of experience, not an ophthalmologist). Recommended blepharoplasty, he did not bother checking my vision/muscles/any eye examination. Told he would excise some skin. He removed sutures after 14 days, I was devastated, realising I got botched. He told me he removed fat, orbicularis oculi muscle and skin. Why would anyone remove muscle or fat from a very slim 26 year old with little fat to begin with. For months my eyes did not close well, I developed dry eyes, BUT 1 sec, still persists. Scars outside crease, extend all the way to where my eyebrows end, hollowness, my eyes don’t fully close when asleep, during daytime I can close them but it feels weird and forced, upper lids have chronic pulling tight feeling and discomfort when closed as if I had to strain those muscles. Sometimes I push my lower lid with my fingers for temporary relief from dry eyes and pulling feeling. Only when my eyes are closed esp the left side visibly pulsates/vibrates on a specific isolated area for 7 years already since surgery (inner corner closer to nose area, never the entire lid, it’s isolated to an area with wider scar), one eyedoc theory for the isolated area twitch is nerve/muscle injury/entrapment or skin shortage, can’t confirm without surgery. Botox offered but I don’t want to rely on it all my life and it won’t fix all the issues here.
