You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best.  Traditional liposuction awake and smart liposuction are old methods and do very poorly for tightening skin or significant skin tightening or contouring.  Small problem areas can be improved slightly by these methods.  The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heat the skin with radio-frequency devices such as J PLASMA/RENUVION, InMode BodyTite, ThermiRF to heat the under surface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HIDEF VASER contouring and can only be done by a well . trained body contouring specialist. At the same time fat should be harvested, PRP and stem cells added and injected into muscles or indentations/cellulite to get body shaping and contouring.  This is known as a Brazilian butt lift when you inject the fat to the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face.  Cellulite should also be treated with cellfina, sculptra, subcision and/or fillers such as bellafill, renuva synthetic fat, or sculptra.  If skin is very loose before surgery then it will need to be removed such as lower abdominal skin (tummy tuck/abdominoplasty), breast skin (breast lift), arm skin (brachioplasty).  Overall you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting.  Dr. Emer.

Plastic surgery continues to evolve as technology continues to improve and this leads to increasing effectiveness and overall treatment options for patients.  One new frontier in plastic surgery is skin tightening, while this is not new, there are some significant advancements that have been made that have led to improved treatments for patients.  One of these innovations is a device called Renuvion, it was also called J-Plasma before it was redesigned specifically for aesthetic treatments. 
Renuvion (J-Plasma) is a radiofrequency energy device that also combines helium to induce skin tightening.  The device includes a cannula that is placed under the skin (similar to a liposuction cannula) which allows higher amounts of energy as it avoids the concern for trauma to the superficial skin.  The second unique feature of the Renuvion is the addition of the helium, the combination allows for the radiofrequency energy to heat the skin quickly and almost instantaneously be cooled to increase the safety of the device.  It also allows for a more efficient treatment, which is important when combining the treatment with other larger body contouring surgeries such as a Brazilian Butt Lift. 

In my practice Renuvion (J-Plasma) is most commonly used in combination with liposculpting procedures such as a Brazilian Butt Lift.  It can also be used in the neck in combination with liposuction for patients that want to improve their appearance, but are not ready for a necklift yet.  Liposuction is an incredible way to enhance the shape of the body or neck, however a patient’s results are dependent on the skin to contract.  In patient with loose skin or stretch marks there will likely be a limit to the skin contracture after liposuction, thus limiting the overall results of the procedure.  However, if we can remove the fat and tighten the skin simultaneously we have opened up the procedure to patients that were not previously a candidate for liposuction. 

It is important to know that Renuvion (J-Plasma) is not a replacement for a tummy tuck, neck lift or other surgical procedure that removes excess skin.  However, it is a great option for patients who are not ready or don’t need these larger procedures, but have some loose skin that will not be treated with liposuction. 

It is important to discuss Renuvion (J-Plasma) with your Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon as they can help guide you to the best treatment to reach your aesthetic goals. 

J plasma is a good option for treating skin laxity after surgical treatment or sudden and drastic weight loss. 

JPlasma /Renuvion is good option for skin laxity on the lower abdomen . I would suggest waiting several more month since you will continue to have changes from you first surgery .It’s is best for thicker skin laxity and not skin creapiness

You are encouraged to wait until your elective surgery results have fully developed. If, after that point, you are still unsatisfied with your results you may consider renuvion skin tightening or possibly a tummy tuck to remove the stretch marks and skin below the belly button. I will preface this by saying that I own Renuvion device also known as Jay plasma. I have personal first-hand experience with this device. My conclusion is that it consistently under delivers. It will not cause enough improvement to justify the procedure in your case. The time to have used it would have been during your BBL. The device really requires doing liposuction at the same time to be Effective.Weight loss patients with significant skin laxity need skin surgery. I would steer you 100% towards a tummy tuck. even though you’re not a great candidate for a mini tummy tuck this would still be far better than J plasma which I’m fairly certain will leave you disappointed.J plasma is better than not using it but it should’ve been done in conjunction with your previous liposuction.I don’t think you’re going back for a second procedure is warranted.A well done full tummy tuck would look amazing on you.if having children is part of future plans then I may not be the time for a tummy tuck.I understand all the reasons why people are apprehensive of having a tummy tuck.It is the textbook correct procedure for you.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
