I think that size implant is too large. Many women who get implants that large are happy for a while but later regret it when the breasts sag. Also, implants that large tend to make some women look heavy.
A 600 mL implant in a 5 foot woman is extremely large. It is important that the base of the implant not exceedThe normal anatomic limits of the breast
It is not unreasonable to place 600-650cc breast implants in someone with your body dimensions. However, you must take into consideration chest size, tissue elasticity, breast measurements as well as aesthetic look you are trying to achieve. You must also pick the correct type of implant to help you achieve this result. In some patients this sized implant is not possible while in others its not an issue. It is best to consult with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon in your area.Dr. Cambeiro SurgiSpa Plastic SurgeryHenderson, NV
Implant size selection is a personal issue. It is however appropriate to discuss the size with your surgeon. For your height and weight 600 to 650 certainly is on the large size. Find a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area who does lots of breast augmentation and discuss this in detail with the surgeon. Be sure to use sizers before the surgery to get a good look at how it will look on you.
A 600 cc implant for a patient your size would seem large to most plastic surgeons. The best cosmetic result in any particularbreast augmentation patient depends on a variety of factors, including: yourindividual anatomy, desired outcome, realistic expectations, a thoroughdiscussion with the plastic surgeon about the options, and an understanding ofthe pros and cons of any particular implant choice. Proper sizing is not justabout the number of cc’s. The thickness of your tissue, breast dimensions whichinclude the width, height, and projection, as well as chest wall width all needto be considered when choosing an implant. Trying on implant “sizers” ofvarious shapes and volumes while wearing a tight t-shirt, bra, or bathing sitat a preoperative visit will help you and your surgeon choose the optimalimplant.Keep in mind that following the advice froma surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do without examining you, physicallyfeeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medicalhistory, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would notbe in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeryand ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery(ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss yourconcerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California
Patty0727-Thank you for your question. Based on your frame a 600-650 cc implant sounds like it would be too big. Implant selection depends on several factors such as your body type, characteristics of your breast, and your desires. I would recommend that you find a board certified plastic surgeon and set up a consult. They will be able to help you pick an implant that will achieve your aesthetic goals. Good luck.
This is a good question and I think you are focusing too much on the size and not what right for you. This seems like a too large of an implant for your body. I also depends on what kind of result you want, natural or fake. Your doctor will need to see you and determine what works best for your body. Keep in mind that your surgeon can only work on the possible and not always the wanted. This is why you need to listen carefully to your surgeon so you can have the best result possible.
The choice of implant size has many variables to consider. I can only assume the implant that has been recommended for you is a Full Projection" Allergan implant which would be possibly narrow enough to fit the base width of your breast. Implant choice should come after a discussion of your desire, a focused physical exam and then allowing you to "try the implant on" in a sports bra. This is by no means a perfect way of sizing but it gives you an idea of what you might expect from surgery. It also has to do with what breast size and shape you have to start with. There are many things to consider in your decision with your board-certified plastic surgeon.I hope this helps.Dr. Edwards
Thank you for the question. Despite your good description of your body type, online consultants will not be of specific enough help to you. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is:1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you're looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “C or D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. The use of computer imaging technology may also be very helpful during this communication process.3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery.I hope this (and the attached link) help.
