22 year old male - should I get porcelain veneers? (photos)

Porcelain veneers can close the spaces between your front teeth, but the position of your lower canines will cause premature failure of the veneers on the upper lateral incisors if not addressed.  By closing the spaces between your upper lateral incisors and upper canines, this will cause a bite problem(occlusal interference) with your lower canines.  This can be prevented by first undergoing Invisalign treatment to eliminate the crossbite and better position your teeth for placement of veneers after treatment is completed.  Alternatively, you could bypass Invisalign treatment, but your lower canines would need enamel recontoiring to reduce their height where they would otherwise interfere with the veneers on your lateral incisors.  In any case, I would strongly recommend only 4 veneers upper and 4 veneers lower for best cosmetic and functional result.

Should you get porcelain veneers at age 22? Absolutely not! You are in for a lifetime of dentistry whether these are prepped or prepless veneers. If the average life span of a veneer is 15 years, think of how many times you will need to have them redone in your lifetime.Get the Invisalign or traditional braces, and if there are still some gaps, they are going to be very minimal which can be conservatively closed with composite. This is a much more conservative and healthier treatment than porcelain veneers.
