Thanks for the question. You have to be older than 18 years old. If you’re an older than 18; you’re a good candidate for breast augmentation. I wish you all the best.
There are two great options to consider: 1. IDEAL implants - these are newly released "hybrid implants" double lumen saline implants made to feel like silicone2. I will place silicone implants in patients under 22 yrs old but first have an informed consent and have them sign a waiver that they are aware that they are being used in "off label' FDA use. #IDEALimplants#breastaugmentation#breastimplants
Thank you for your question. You are correct that silicone implants are FDA approved for patients 22 years and older. You may have these implants as an off label use which will void their warranty, but can be done. You may very well be a saline candidate without this age restriction and may even be a candidate for a TUBA procedure without any visible scars. Please look to see a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in breast enhancement.
The minimum age for silicone implants per the FDA is age 22. From 18 to 21, your option is restricted to saline implants.
Ch 19: You are correct in that the FDA has cleared silicone breast implants for use in woman 22 years and older. How they came up with this arbitrary number is a mystery. Silicone implants still CAN be placed in women under 22 years of age however, as an "off label use." We use medications and devices off label very frequently and it is not a problem.Good luck with your augmentation!
The companies do advise that patients under 22 do not receive cohesive gel implants, however an application to the fda for approval can be done
Fortunately there are many options for breast implants nowadays: saline vs silicone vs form-stable silicone, moderate vs high vs ultra high profile, smooth vs textured and round vs anatomic. All of these implants are available to women age 22 and above. Please see a board certified plastic surgeon to help you pick the correct size and style implant for you.
At 22 you are allowed to have gummy implants as the FDA has approved silicone implants for this age and older.
Hello and thank you for your question. The FDA hasapproved the use of silicone implants for patients age 22 and up. As therequired age is 22 year, you should wait until you are of age before youconsider getting the silicone implants. Once you are 22 years old,I recommend that you see a boardcertified plastic surgeon in consultation to get more specific answers to yourquestions which can best be addressed after a thorough history and examinationis performed. Best of luck to you
The use of gummy implants is restricted to patients over age 22. Saline implants are perfectly fine and are much less expensive. Your alternatives are to postpone surgery until after you have reached this milestone or to proceed earlier using sailne implants. However, rather than assuming that the gummy implants are the best thing for you, see a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation and then decide.
Hi there,I dont think you dont have anything to be concerned about. You are correct that one of the current theories around breast implant capsular contracture is a subclinical infection. The organism invloved is a bacteria from the skin and is thought to be introduced at the time of surgery...
In general, the nipples can either be more numb or more sensitive after an augmentation but usually normalizes within one year post-op. Best to check in with your PS.
Your breasts look great and should not be affected by sleeping position. You might have worried about sleeping position earlier in the post op course but no need to worry now.
