Hello, how can scars caused by a brow lift be removed please? its been over a year since the surgery. (photos)

Question

During consultation i was told In house procedure, no bleeding, no bandages, scars will be paper thin ( up close see them) my brows would grow into them and cover them within 6 moths. However, that wasn't true, i was still bleeding after surgery and had to keep bandages on for 2 days. The scars are not paper thin and are highly visible. The hair from my eyebrows have not grown in to cover the scars. So my concern is, what procedures, are there to remove or fade these scars please. Thanks

It looks like the scars opened when healing so it is wide.  You will need to have them redone, and hopefully you will get a smaller scar.  At 6 weeks post revision, there are lasers that can be used to improve the color and texture of a scar.  Unfortunately the medial brow has very thick skin and it is very sebaceous so that the scar is sometimes more visible.  The lateral brow skin is much thinner and will scar better.

The brow scars look like they are depressed.  That is there has been a loss of volume in the connective tissue causing them to  have a "grooved" appearance.  If you were my patient I would treat them with fat injections or Bellafill injections followed by CO2 laser resurfacing.  The filler is to plumb them up.  The laser will stimulate collagen and make the scar less obvious.  good question and good luck!

Dear jayb123, Personally I do not perform this procedure I think it gives an unnatural lift and the visible incisions are conspicuous and there are much better alternatives. I have enclosed a link below of a male patient with an endoscopic browlift and this procedure leaves no tell tale signs of surgery and has a very natural and youthful appearance as the end result. With that said you need to see some experts for consultation to determine the best way to improve your scars. I would say they will need to be revised for a narrower scar and then treatments for camouflage would then be discussed after you have fully healed.  Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.

It is rare that a direct brow lift will result in totally undetectible scars. The  trichophytic type of excision and skin closure will not work due to the direction of the hair flow. A situation such as yours might be handled first by scar revision,to get narrower scars, and 6 months later have hair tranplants or micropigmentation done. In the meantime, eyebrow pencil can conceal you problem to some degree.
