Doctors

Shahram Salemy, MD, FACS
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Shahram Salemy is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Seattle, Washington, who is best known for his expertise in breast augmentation and tummy tucks. “My approach is to listen to what the patient wants, give them an honest assessment, and tailor a plan to blend the patient’s goals with what their anatomy will allow me to do safely and effectively,” says Dr. Salemy. At his Seattle practice, Shahram Salemy Plastic Surgery, Dr. Salemy and his staff cultivate a safe, private, and comfortable atmosphere. Facilities include their operating room, “which offers patients tremendous convenience and cost savings,” Dr. Salemy says. Patients have an outstanding experience from consultation to the final follow-up—with consistent results. But what really sets Dr. Salemy’s practice apart is the quality of his entire staff. “There are a lot of good plastic surgeons in our area, but I think I have the best staff in the business.” A graduate of Yale University with a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, Dr. Salemy received his MD from Yale School of Medicine. He was drawn to aesthetic medicine by both the artistry and the impact it makes on individuals. “I enjoyed the procedures and having the ability to improve people’s lives,” Dr. Salemy says. He completed his residency at University of Washington, where he is now an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Salemy is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Over the course of his career, Dr. Salemy has been honored with several awards, including being named as one of Washington’s 10 Best Plastic Surgeons by the American Institute of Plastic Surgeons (AIOPS) and winning the Seattle Magazine Reader’s Choice Award for Best Plastic Surgeon.

Thankful and so happy with my results

I initially had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation from another surgeon. I was left with scares, necrotic tissue and much larger breasts than I wanted. I made an appointment with Dr.Salamy and was immediately impressed walking into his office how friendly his staff are. Dr.Salamy was warm, kind and explained everything to me. His surgical team made me feel so at ease. ...

Couldn’t Be Happier - My recovery time was very easy

I had a breast augmentation back in July after having a child. Let me say I am beyond happy with the results and would do it over again!! My recovery time was very easy for me and my six weeks flew by. I chose the right doctor for me after visiting three. Dr Salemy and his staff were amazing and made me feel so comfortable.

Q: Had liposuction 10 years ago. Can I have lipo done on the same body parts again? (photos)
Answered by Dr. SalemyNovember 2, 2021

A: Thanks for your question and the short answer is yes, it can be done, but we want to make sure that we will be able to achieve the results you want. Liposuction tends to work the best when the overlying skin quality is good and the skin is not loose or hanging. If the skin is good (say on the flanks) then it will respond well to liposuction in most patients. If there is hanging skin, we would at least want to discuss options for skin excision along with the liposuction (tummy tuck, braline backlift, or lower body lift for example). Finally, for cellulite, in particular on the buttocks, qwo is a great option. Qwo is an injectable that can dissolve the fibrous bands that create the cellulite. Hope you find this helpful and great question!

Q: How much noticeable volume between 350cc and 385cc? Sientra HP round.
Answered by Dr. SalemyJanuary 10, 2019

A: This is a good question and deciding between 2 closely sized implants is often very difficult for patients.  In the end the differences can be very subtle and I urge patients to discuss their concerns with their physician, take their time and to ultimately go with their gut!

Q: Is 2 liters of fat removed from liposuction enough to show a difference in someone who is 5'1" and 130 lbs?
Answered by Dr. SalemyJanuary 10, 2019

A: When we are performing a liposuction procedure we are trying to achieve a certain result (for example, removal of excess outer thigh fat that is out of balance with the rest of the thigh).  Usually we are not trying to remove a specific amount of fat.  That being said, 2L is a significant and in most patients there should be a noticeable change I would imagine.  Discuss your concerns with your surgeon as they will be able to review your specific procedure in detail.

Q: 350 vs. 385cc high profile implant. What would give me a full C cup?
Answered by Dr. SalemyNovember 12, 2018

A: Thanks for your question and in my opinion the difference between 350 cc and 385 cc is pretty subtle and I would be surprised if it would change you bra size and entire cup.  We usually will base implant options on a number of factors including the patient's goals/wishes, their breast base width and their overall frame, and I typically ask my patients to aim for a certain look instead of a certain cup size-- in the end we want you to have the look you want.  Discuss your concerns with your surgeon so they can better help guide and inform you.  Great question and best of luck!

Q: How many CC difference is enough to use different implants?
Answered by Dr. SalemyOctober 15, 2018

A: Each surgeon has a different approach to implant selection, and in our practice we will often choose different implant sizes if the difference is significant and both we and the patient see it.  In some cases the difference is so small that it would not be useful to use 2 different sized implants, as different implants can also have different dimensions.  Discuss this with your surgeon as he or she may have a different approach to the issue.
