Q: Cheek filler or implants? (Photo)
Answered by Kasey LandrusMarch 2, 2018

A: Thank you for your question. It is always important to make an informed decision and find a provider you are comfortable to help you make that informed decision. Filler has come a long ways and can last almost 2 years. Every patient is different and some need more volume than others to achieve the look you are wanting. You are right though once you place an implant it is permanent and it is a major surgery. Most of my patients are very happy with voluma in the mid face as it does create a nice lifted appearance in the cheekbones, nasolabial folds and sometimes the jowls if placed correctly. If you have never received a treatment like this i would highly recommend fillers first as they can be reversed and you can always add more volume to get the desired look you are going for. Good luck with your choice.

Q: Juvederm Ultra Smile vs Juvederm Volbella for lips?
Answered by Kasey LandrusFebruary 21, 2018

A: Creating a fuller lips is a process and it has to be done slowly. I would say that using juvederm ultra or ultra plus as your base and reassessing in 6months with the intent that you will need more product either volbella or juvederm ultra. There is an art to injecting and creating volume and it takes patience from you and your injector to create your desired outcome. It is also very important that your injector is placing the products in the correct plane of tissue. Sometimes that subtlety alone is the key. Good luck with your choice.

Q: Lumpy lips two months after Juvederm Volbella? What are my options? Will these lumps & thickness go away? (Photo)
Answered by Kasey LandrusFebruary 21, 2018

A: This is not a common trend that happens. But as with any type of injectable procedure there are risks. I would recommend that you see your provider and have the product dissolved over a few different sessions after the baby is born. Also hormones during pregnancy can greatly alter your bodies chemistry which may be affecting your result. I would try to massage the areas and see if you get some relief. Best wishes in your pregnancy.

Q: Severe swelling after Volbella lip filler. Can I have some advice? (Photo)
Answered by Kasey LandrusFebruary 21, 2018

A: Hi there-

Thank you for sharing your photos. Some swelling is definitely normal as you've had fillers before. I would suggest contacting your provider expressing your concern. Also consider taking an anti-histamine such as Zyrtec, and keep them hydrated so they don't split you don't need to get a secondary infection.

Q: Lip filler stiffness after 2 weeks?
Answered by Kasey LandrusFebruary 21, 2018

A: Hi there-

I am a nurse injector with 2 years of injection experience and 5 years of plastic surgery nurse experience.

It is very normal for swelling to last up to 2 weeks. Depending on how much was placed would depend on the degree. Volbella in the lips is definitely a beautiful product to offer subtle changes to shape and overall hydration of the lip. Are there obvious "lumps"? You should expect to see obvious softening of the lip tissue between weeks 2-4. I would suggest that you reach out to your injector and have have them examine your lips. Regular follow-ups with your injector are a huge part of our practice and are high recommended.
