A I have never heard of that particular regimen to prep the skin prior to surgery and I am not sure how it would improve your result. Having said that, I think that your question definitely highlights the issue of thick skin and how to deal with it prior to surgery. There are some facial plastic surgeons who will have their patients use accutane before and after rhinoplasty to help improve the skin. This can lead to improved results. I think that I would advise you to talk to your doctor about the reasons why those treatments were recommended prior to proceeding.

A Thanks for your question. I would definitely recommend that you discuss with your surgeon. I suspect that your surgeon suggested that you press on the area to see if that resolved the issue. Swelling and scar tissue can be a big issue in rhinoplasty. If the issue did not resolve with massage of the area and with time, you may need to have another procedure and I am certain your surgeon would want to evaluate it.
