Couldn't be happier with how I look and feel - forever grateful

Dr.Leber did a phenomenal job on my tummy. After 4 pregnancies (the last of which was twins), my abdominal muscles were significantly separated, skin was lax and lots of stretch marks. I was uncomfortable and looked 7m pregnant. Many women who go for a tummy tuck, pair it with lipo, but Dr. Leber was confident that my results would be spectacular even without lipo- so glad I listened! You...

Lateral thigh & buttock lift scheduled for March 15, 2023

I will be using this platform to journal my experience, including before and after pics at various stages of recovery, to hopefully maximize the usefulness of my post for others considering this procedure and/ or my selected PS. Due to 80 lb weight loss in 2010, I have had an issue with lax skin, To date, I have had a tummy tuck, breast lift w/augmentation, and facelift. I have wasted tons of...

Absolutely the best - I literally cannot the believe the magical change in my appearance

I am a surgeon myself in a different speciality in Boston and when I was looking to have multiple procedures done (TT, Lipo, breast augmentation) I was absolutely thorough in finding a plastic surgeon who was the consummate professional not just in terms of bedside manner but importantly in surgical skill, preop and post op care. I will say with absolute certainty you simply cannot find a...

Q: I'm 2 weeks post-op Breast Augmentation and Mastopexy. Is it common for breasts to feel heavy, super swollen and numb?
Answered by Dr. LeberAugust 4, 2023

A: Numbness of the skin on the breast under the areola is not uncommon after breast augmentation. This is usually a temporary phenominon that results from tissue swelling and induration arround the nerve that supplies this area. The lateral intercostal nerves supply sensation to the breast skin in the region that you are describing. These nerves exit the lateral chest wall to intervate overlying skin and the breast implant may place tension on the nerve. Hypersensitivity of the skin is most commonly decribed as a result of this added tension on the nerve. This is a good sign as the nerve is intact but overly stimulated. Hypersensitivity usually resolves within 6-12 weeks after surgery. Hyposensitivity or lack of sensation also may result from streching the nerve. This may cause a temporary numbness in the lower pole of the breast. The nerve function typically returns to normal over time, however this may take 6-12 months. Tingling sensation (pins and needles) may occur as the nerve recovers. This is a good sign. Very large implants have a higher chance of streching these nerves potentially leading to permanent numbness.

Q: My nipple and an inch of skin around my nipples are numb. When will I start feeling them again?

Q: My nipples have stretched and gone puffy/swollen and numb after breast augmentation. Will they go back to normal?

Q: Is it possible to get a Tummy Tuck and Brazilian Butt Lift at the same time?
Answered by Dr. LeberFebruary 26, 2014

A: Yes, it is possibly to have a tummy tuck and Brazilian but lift performed together.  Often liposuction of the back, flanks and thighs is performed with a tummy tuck.  The fat is normally discarded, however If you are considering buttock augmentation with fat grafting (Brazilian buttock lift) the fat would not go to waste.  The procedure would require position changes.  I would start with fat harvesting and then buttock fat grafting followed by turning the patient over and performing the abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Q: Having a tummy tuck, should I have breast implants too?
Answered by Dr. LeberFebruary 26, 2014

A:

  1. If the answer is yes than a breast augmentation with unilateral lift  can accomplish this.  Combining breast surgery with a tummy tuck with possible liposuction (mommy makeover", can can reduce some of the fees compared with doing them separately.  However, If you are happy with your breasts, just do the yummy tuck .  Ultimately it's your decision.
