I have had my first profhilo treatment performed by the excellent Dr Joanna Christou at the Cosmetic skin clinic and the results are already impressive. I had initially wanted to try dabbling with fillers but Dr Christou recommend profhilo instead as a more preventative treatment as she didn’t think fillers or Botox were necessary for me at this time. I was told that as a skin booster it would help collagen production and skin refining and that the results are subtle but noticeable (I know that sounds contradictory but stay with me lol). She was also interested to see if my rosacea would see any benefit. The treatment itself was fine with numbing cream and I had no redness or the little bumps that most people get. There also really wasn’t much swelling. I would say that my skin immediately looked more plumped and glowing even after the initial dissolving period. I know it isn’t a filler in the traditional sense but I do think it has improved volume in a subtle way and my skin is calmer although it’s not marketed as a rosacea treatment. I will update after my second treatment
I have recently visited The Cosmetic Skin Clinic for Botox with Dr Fitzgerald. I have been getting Botox treatments here for the last couple of years, and I am always thrilled with the results and the service received. Dr Fitzgerald is extremely professional and precise, and I always feel safe in her hands. I had my first ever Botox treatment with her and she was very patient and took the time to explain the procedure, which was much appreciated. Having found the The Cosmetic Skin Clinic and Dr Fitzgerald, I would not go anywhere else! I recommend it to all.
I have been a patient of Dr Mountford and the Cosmetic Skin Clinic now for over 6 years and simply would not go anywhere else for my treatment. I was 43 years old at the time and looked 20 years older. I was so incredibly unhappy with my appearance that I quite often cancelled going out with my husband because of my looks. One of the most common things people used to say to me was 'you look tired' - even when I felt fine! I can honestly say that my life has changed for the better. I originally went to the Cosmetic Skin Clinic thinking that maybe botox could help me. I sat down with the Aesthetic Practitioner and she asked what I thought was wrong and then she told me what she thought I needed. There was no pressure and no selling I was given a plan and itemised costing and I was given time to go away and think about what was proposed. It was explained that if I decided to go ahead everything would not be done at once but would be gradual - the aim being to make any changes as natural as possible. My initial treatment consisted of botox, fillers in my cheeks and lines between my nose and mouth and mouth to chin. The change was amazing and confidence changing. I looked my age and not like that old woman I used to see in the mirror. I have not cancelled a night out since. I will be 50 this year and whilst I don't look young, I look like me. It doesnt look like I have had anything done but that is the whole point - I dont want people to point and talk about me behind my back because I look false. I look natural, I look like me. We are all our own worst critics but I am no longer self conscious about my appearance and I am happy getting on with my life. Every member of the team at cosmetic skin clinic is supportive and guiding, there is no selling - only good advice which you do not need to follow if you do not want to. I am so happy I came across the Cosmetic Skin Clinic and cannot thank them enough for what they have done for me and given me my life back.
On the whole, I found this place excellent. Almost all of the staff that I encountered were helpful and professional. The only thing I was unhappy about was a review with Dr Ward. I had had fillers done by her which made me look better overall. However there were also some problems and I asked if anything could be done about them. I made clear that I was not complaining - I was informed prior to the treatment that the results of fillers were unpredictable. I was very unhappy about the unpleasant way that she looked at me and spoke to me. I tried to show her a photo on my phone to show what my lips had looked like before the filler - they were bigger as after the filler they disappear well before the corners. Without looking at it she said, 'I don't see what you mean.' Another problem was that one of my temples was bigger than the other after the fillers. I asked if some filler could be removed from the bigger one to make them even, and said that I didn't mind if my face went in a little at the temples as it had always done that. She said, 'Most people don't want to have a face like a peanut.' I think that it is very inappropriate for a doctor to speak to patient like that. She then said that she would not work with me anymore. Despite saying that, she insisted on taking photos and asked me to stand against a wall. She then produced a device with a large screen which she held very close to my face, then took a very large number of photos while standing very close to me. I hated the way that she invaded my personal space and normally would have walked away but I was still feeling bewildered by her previous behaviour and wasn't thinking straight. Another negative result of the fillers was that I had very puffy skin next to my right naso-labial line afterwards; I forgot to ask if there was anything they could do about it. I was very shaken by the whole experience. I think that, as a doctor, she should think about the effects of her behaviour on her patients. I made a complaint which was dealt with in an extremely conscientious manner. They arranged for me to have another review with Dr Christou who is very popular and booked up months in advance. This doctor was very nice and helpful and said that she could see what I meant about my lips. However in the end I decided to move to another clinic.
Filler beware! I had 3 sessions of Morpheus8 with Sylvia costing £4200 - to tighten my face and improve my ‘jowls’. It was quite successful for my age. I should have left it at that. Then at the review Sylvia persuaded me to have some filler (£1600) to enhance the results. I really wish I hadn’t. I was left with a pea-sized hard lump of filler on one side in my ‘marionette line’ which has restored the jowl on one side even worse than before. I rang the clinic and was advised to massage it by the clinic - which I did for a few weeks - but to no effect. I think they just hoped it would resolve itself and I would go away. At the review a few weeks laterSylvia felt the lump. She suggested I simply massage it as dissolver has its risks. If someone has made a mistake with filler - it doesn’t encourage you to let them have another try with dissolver! I wouldn’t risk that for sure. I had heard that RF micro needling (such as Morpheus8) can sometimes destroy filler. The clinic reluctantly agreed to try this for me on the filler site - twice. I think it improved it very slightly. The lump now feels a bit flatter but it’s very much a chubby fat lump still visible on one side of my face. Not what I was hoping for at this clinic. I paid a total of £5800 to just end up looking a bit worse than before I started. I have photos below - which show the lump one side compared with the other side. Not the aesthetic result I was aiming for at the Cosmetic Skin Clinic.
