Negative Experience with Dr Ward
On the whole, I found this place excellent. Almost all of the staff that I encountered were helpful and professional.
The only thing I was unhappy about was a review with Dr Ward. I had had fillers done by her which made me look better overall. However there were also some problems and I asked if anything could be done about them. I made clear that I was not complaining - I was informed prior to the treatment that the results of fillers were unpredictable.
I was very unhappy about the unpleasant way that she looked at me and spoke to me. I tried to show her a photo on my phone to show what my lips had looked like before the filler - they were bigger as after the filler they disappear well before the corners. Without looking at it she said, 'I don't see what you mean.'
Another problem was that one of my temples was bigger than the other after the fillers. I asked if some filler could be removed from the bigger one to make them even, and said that I didn't mind if my face went in a little at the temples as it had always done that. She said, 'Most people don't want to have a face like a peanut.' I think that it is very inappropriate for a doctor to speak to patient like that.
She then said that she would not work with me anymore. Despite saying that, she insisted on taking photos and asked me to stand against a wall. She then produced a device with a large screen which she held very close to my face, then took a very large number of photos while standing very close to me. I hated the way that she invaded my personal space and normally would have walked away but I was still feeling bewildered by her previous behaviour and wasn't thinking straight.
Another negative result of the fillers was that I had very puffy skin next to my right naso-labial line afterwards; I forgot to ask if there was anything they could do about it.
I was very shaken by the whole experience. I think that, as a doctor, she should think about the effects of her behaviour on her patients.
I made a complaint which was dealt with in an extremely conscientious manner. They arranged for me to have another review with Dr Christou who is very popular and booked up months in advance. This doctor was very nice and helpful and said that she could see what I meant about my lips. However in the end I decided to move to another clinic.
