This young patient had breast cancer. She desired reconstruction with silicone implants and I utilized a 2-stage technique. The first stage involved placement of tissue expanders beneath the pectoralis major muscle and Surgimend acellular matrix for the lower half for implant support. During her chemotherapy, I inflated the tissue expanders each week until we reached a desired volume. Then, through a very straight-forward surgery I removed the expanders and replaced them with permanent implants. She has done very well.
