This 30 year-old patient has lived as a male all his life, has been on testosterone for the past 4 years, and came in for transgender (F to M) total mastectomies (“top surgery”). Total mastectomies, nipple/areola reductions, and reconstruction were performed by Dr. Tholen as an outpatient operation in our surgical facility under a light general (TIVA) anesthetic in an operation that took just under 4 hours. (Pre-op photos show shaved chest before surgery; after photos at 10 months post-op)

By uploading this photo, Richard H. Tholen, MD, FACS has agreed with RealSelf.com policy that they've secured proper patient consent.
