Can ipl/BBL be combined with micro-needling ? If not how long should the two procedures be spaced apart? My goal/thought is use IPL/BBL for sun spots and pigmentation. Utilize micro-needling for rebuilding/remodeling of the deeper layers of collagen. While taking advantage that both procedures have little to no down time vs fractal laser.
I am 45, very pale and little to no sun spots. I have had 2 rounds of IPL for broken capillaries. Right after my last session I started taking 1000mg of vitamin c supplement and 2500mg of collagen, will this help the IPL work better or is the vitamin c supplement not a good idea? Also, it is ok to take a Vitamin C supplement before IPL since it is internal and not topically applied?
I would like to know the general consensus in regards to IPL devices causing some or all of the aforementioned complications. If it can reach deep enough to stimulate collagen, can it also cause thermal damage to collagen and elastin and therefore cause dermal atrophy, etc?
About 6mos-1year after 4 rounds of IPL (2.5 yrs ago), I began noticing decrease in collagen/elastin and orange peel texture. It's like my dermis layer has been dehydrated and tortured. I never had bad acne- now I have this awful texture on my skin- it's so frustrating. While I understand IPL typically doesn't affect skin this way- each patient is unique and the only catalyst for such a change in my texture was the IPL. What's happening w/ my skin? Is this the beginning of rhinophyma on my nose?
I know short term it gives the collagen in your skin a boost but are the long term effects negative? I feel like if it gives your collagen a short term boost then maybe long term your collagen will 'run out' sooner? I don't want IPL to age me in the long run...
I ask this because that is what IPL feels like-- a really hot slap. I did it twice and I think I am worse off for it. I've been so careful with my skin -- sunscreen sine 21 y.o. , Retin A also for25 years!.... And I never ever pulled at the area around my eyes. Even when I wore contact lenses I never once pulled my lid down the way most people do because I didn't want to stretch the skin. 1 mos post 2nd IPL I have grooves that werent there before-so how can it be good for collagen to slap skin?
I am very keen to have IPL laser hair removal on my legs/bikini line etc. but as I seem to have some collagen issues with prematurely stretchy and dry, wrinkly skin (which I feel is partly attributable to sun damage - I am 25 and under investigation for Ehlers Danlos), I am concerned that the laser may age the skin or affect collagen. Is this possible? I don't want to 'age' my skin any more than I have to. Many thanks.
If ipl causes collagen to shrink, and allow new collagen to be built around it, isn't shrinking collagen a negative for the skin? How can the recovery be uniform? Is that why most people post ipl see uneven texture on the skin, drier skin, and go through fat loss? It's sounds like it's collagen that's not recovering, regardless of age or skin tone.
