Hi. Veins around the eyes/ eyelids are generally not an issue when performing eyelid surgery, especially if your physician in an expert eyelid surgeon.  Hope this helps. Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi. Ptosis surgery usually takes several weeks to heal (occasionally months). 2 days is very early in the healing process, and things will often settle down. It would be very unusual to perform a ptosis revision at 2 days post op. Contact your surgeon if you have any concerns, as they know the most about your case. If you want a second opinion, then see an oculoplastic surgeon. Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi. Patients can sometimes develop symptoms or irritated eyes after blepharoplasty. It is often temporary, and resolves in a few weeks to months. Occasionally, these symptoms can last longer. Without photos or an exam, it is difficult to determine why you are currently having these symptoms. I recommend you contact your surgeon to discuss your issues. I feel you want a second opinion then I recommend consulting an oculoplastic surgeon. Hope this helps. Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your injury.

There may be a way to correct your droopy eyelid (ptosis), but you need an in person exam to determine your options. Potential for surgical correction depends on many factors including how long it has been since your injury, your forehead and eyelid nerve function, and the health of your eye. It would be best to see an oculoplastic surgeon. Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi. From your photos, it looks like you have malar edema (cheek swelling). There are many reasons this can happen. Tear trough or cheek filler is a common cause. It can sometimes occur weeks to months after filler injection. I would follow up with your injector to make sure nothing else is going on. If it is just swelling, it typically reaponds very well to a short course of corticosteroids (such as a medrol dosepak). Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Do I need a canthopexy? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Hi. You do have a little lower sclera show, but I think your eyes look fine. If you are significantly bothered and really want to pursue a surgical option, then you would likely benefit from adding support to your lower lid (by adding a lower lid spacer graft, adding volume, or lifting your cheek). A canthopexy would be an adjunct procedure. Again, I would probably leave it alone unless you are severely bothered. Hope this helps. Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi.  It sounds like you have thought about your eyelids.  There are many ways to adjust the canthus and lower eyelids. There are also several techniques for ptosis repair.  It's hard to say what you need without a consultation.  Photos would help to form an opinion. Be sure to see an eyelid specialist (oculoplastic surgeon). Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi. You do appear to have mild asymmetry.  This can be due to the actual position of the eyelid, or where the eye itself sit in the orbit (the eye socket). Mild facial symmetry is very common and may be normal. Sometimes facial or eye asymmetry is part of a disease process.  Improvement can be possible with surgery, but a detailed examination is needed to determine a cause as well as your best options. Hope this helps. Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi. It looks like you have ptosis and are compensating by raising your brow. You need to be examined in person to see how your eyelid and brow moves, where they sit rest, and how well the eyelid and forehead muscles function. You are probably a good surgical candidate but an exam is needed to determine the best surgical approach. Hope this helps. Best regards, Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hi. Volume should be carefully addressed with lower blepharoplasty.  Fat repositioning (also called redrawing or redistribution) is a technique that uses the "bulging" lower eyelid fat to fill in the sunken area.  I usually reposition fat when I a perform lower blepharoplasty and it is very successful for many patients. Now, no two patients are the same, and there are many different variations of lower blepharoplasty.  See an expert eyelid surgeon to determine what your best options are. Good luck! Ira Vidor, M.D.

Hello Bright Eyes!

So, tomorrow is the day. Scheduled for an upper eyelid lift. My eyes make me look upset all the time. In other words I suffer from RBF, resting butch face. Hoping that this procedure helps with that. :) Scheduled with Dr. Vidor, an ocular plastic surgeon. he is a specialist and people go to him to fix botched surgeries. I’m excited and hoping for a great result. I’ll post right after. Wish me luck! Updated on 25 Apr 2019: Updated on 26 Apr 2019: Updated on 26 Apr 2019: Updated on 27 Apr 2019: No pain, but some swelling in my cheeks. Don’t feel like I can be out and about. Updated on 28 Apr 2019: No pain, still a little swollen and bruised. Updated on 29 Apr 2019: Still healing. A friend told me that I look like a different person. Hope not, just wanted to look refreshed and younger. :) Updated on 30 Apr 2019: Starting to look much better. Been using the ointment and arnica cream. The arnica makes a huge difference. Updated on 1 May 2019: Healing every day. Tomorrow the sutures come out. So glad. I want to get my eyelash extensions back. Updated on 2 May 2019: Day 8. Sutures are out!!! Swelling has reduced. Happy with my results. Still have to wait to put on eye makeup and eyelashes...:( but other than that. I’m happy. Dr. Vidor is a great doctor! I highly recommend him!

32 Yo Upper Eyelids Surgery to Correct Uneven Look. Newport Beach, CA

I've always had very asymmetric eyelids. It was very visible, so I finally decided to seriously research doctors in my area. In pretty sure everone here knows the drill for this part (reading reviews, cyberstalking lol, cross-checking information, shortlisting surgeons, consultation, decision). I finally decided on Dr. Vidor after meeting with him in person. He seemed confident in perforing the procedure and was very thorough with his explanation of the results and what my realistic expectations should be. We also discussed under what circumstances the procedure would have to be redone. My procedure was done yesterday (12/19), in office and with local anesthesia, and I am feeling just fine. Some discomfort and blurry vision, but no pain. I'm very excited to see the final results, but as for now here are the photos!! Updated on 21 Dec 2015: I feel absolutely no pain, only discomfort. I only take a Tylenol at bed time, but during the day only ice for 15 min every two hours. I already notice the difference, even though my eyelids are still very swollen. Excited about the results! Updated on 24 Dec 2015: No pain, only discomfort.. The only problem is that resting for this long gets pretty boring, but when I start moving doing things I notice the swelling goes up and the throbbing starts.. I'm super excited to see the final results!!! Updated on 28 Dec 2015: Everything looks good so far... I had the stitches removed on day 8, which was nothing. . It only felt a little annoying. The doctor said everything looks fine, and that I should suspend the use of the ointment for a couple days to ensure the suture will close. I will see him again in one week to ensure I'm healing okay. Updated on 8 Jan 2016: The scars are visible, but I am very happy with the results. Definitely wish scars were not so pronounced. Updated on 27 Jan 2016: Even though my scars have not healed completely yet, I'm very happy with the decision of getting this procedure done.. I saw my official "before" photo recently, and the improvement is incredible, although no one has noticed enough to ask if I've done anything. All I hear is how I look refreshed, which is light years from the typical "you look so tired" of before... :) Updated on 5 Mar 2016: Still very happy with the improvement on my looks... I specifically love that people haven't mentioned anything about a procedure, only that I look rested.. The only concern I have is with tiny little bumps that I got on both incisions.. I saw my doc yesterday and he injected some steroid meds to accelerate the healing process.

33 Year Old, Fair Skin, Fine Tweaking Needed on Forehead - Newport Beach, CA

At the age where fine lines are more noticeable, I chose to get Botox to lessen to appearance of lines that were starting to multiply. I also had a divot on my forehead between my eyebrows. As someone with fair skin it seemed to be more noticeable as I turned 30 as well. My goal with Botox was not to look ridiculous but to look as natural as I could. I get comments all the time that I look younger than I am so I at least wanted to still look my age, and as natural as possible. Upon seeing other reviews, I went to see Dr. Ira Vidor to see if he could correct my lines. He spoke to me at length about skin health first. To get an idea of what will happen going foreward. He was very clear and thorough about what skin aging is. Then he reviewed my own skin, made recommendations, and I went ahead with the treatment. What I liked most was that Dr. Vidor was adamant about not giving me too much, even though I intially thought I would need more Botox. He said "I want you to look as natural as possible." EXACTLY the vision and outcome I had for getting Botox! He studied my face and confirmed before the injection was given, of what he saw would be best for me. Dr. Vidor's professional and friendly demeanor was exactly what I needed to get over the small fear of the needle. He also answered all my questions, and even told me that I could come back if I wanted to make any tweets. Happy to say I love the results! I feel much more confident, and best of all...it looks NATURAL. I have seen women who have clearly had too much Botox and it's not attractive. Go to Dr. Vidor and you will have a pleasant experience from start to finish and the results are fantastic!

Wrinkle Prevention Crows Feet. Rancho Cucamonga, CA

At 36 I am so very lucky to not have one line on my face unless I scrunch my face up (never smoked, drank, and wear SPF everyday). After having an amazing experience with my ptosis repair and subsequent tear trough filler procedure from Dr. Vidor I figured "why not try Botox?" As with every stupid vanity thing I get done I always like to be cautious and get "under done" on things and Botox was no exception. My wonderful doctor once again listened to me and gave me a mild dose around my crows feet area. To be honest, I felt kind of strange getting it since the only time I have a deep wrinkle is when I scrunch up my face but I figured I would try it as a preventative measure. The injections were painless and fast and after a few days my eye area felt slightly more lifted. I was so afraid of not being able to move my face but everything moves perfectly and looks normal. Overall I am really happy with it and if prevents me from looking like a catchers mitt in the future I will certainly be back.

So Happy with my Doctor and Belotero. Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Almost two years ago I decided to get Restylane in my tear troughs, at the time I was pretty happy with the results overall, yeah, there were things that really sucked about it but overall I looked better so I was willing to put up with the lumps, strange floating chunks of Restylane in strange places (like by my nose) and weird pain in spots that took forever to go away. At times I swore I would never do that to myself again but once again my stupid vanity took hold and I decided I wanted to get it done again but this time I went with Dr. Vidor who just 3 months before had done my Ptosis repair and he suggest Belotero. For those that did not read my review about my Ptosis repair, Dr. Vidor did an amazing job and is so super chill and funny that I knew if I was going to try this again he would be the only one I would trust. Understandably, I was super freaked out about getting it done again and was wondering what the hell I was thinking even considering it, however I just kept thinking about how amazing of a physician he is so I decided to roll with it and take my chances. I was very clear with what I wanted, I did not want to have that awful typical chipmunk/ lioness look that I see so many people have and as usual he totally listened to what I wanted. The procedure took minutes and I am so amazed at the 100% natural results. I have zero dark circles and I look so much more refreshed. To be honest, now in hindsight after having this amazing experience, I realize how unhappy I should have been having had the procedure I did before. Dr. Vidor is so talented and he is the only one I will ever go to for my cosmetic and eye needs. I must also give accolades to his amazing nurse Sue and the rest of the staff who are always so caring, calming and helpful when I am there. As a whole, everyone in the office is so supportive and kind making the experience even greater. I am so happy to have this done and will certainly get it done again when my results start to fade.

Congenital Ptosis Repair with Marcus Gunn Syndrome. Colton, CA

I was born with congenital Ptosis with the added crappy bonus of Marcus Gunn syndrome (often called “jaw wink”). If you have been born with Ptosis you know the lack of confidence that comes with this condition. For years I hid from pictures and looking at people. I was constantly bombarded throughout my life with the same question, "What happened to your eye?" If you have Ptosis you know what I am talking about, something so stupid brings out the rudeness in people which erodes your confidence even further. I had been to at least two consultations with other doctors about getting my Ptosis repaired, but honestly these physicians (although probably technically good) just did not give me the confidence I needed in them to repair my lid so for years I put it off. Fast forward to my mid thirties and I decided to get a consultation with Dr. Vidor. I was immediately impressed by the aesthetically pleasing office as well as its cleanliness and warmness of the staff (especially his super sweet and amazing nurse Sue). Once I actually met Dr. Vidor for the first time in 35 plus years I actually felt comfortable enough to want to pursue the procedure so less than 2 months later I was in the office to get the procedure done. The actual procedure was super easy, fast and truthfully painless both during and after the surgery (I did not even have to take a Tylenol). I got some numbing shots but did not have to be sedated at all, yes, there is discomfort, but it's only slight and the results are amazing. The subsequent recovery was super easy too; just some swelling and juicing of my eye but that most of that quickly subsided within 4 days. I am so ecstatic that I got the surgery, I can now look people in the eye and welcome pictures and my confidence is now starting to build after hiding from looking at people for so many years. Beyond Dr. Vidor's exquisite surgical skills with my Ptosis repair, I recently had cosmetic filler injected in my tear troughs (an area that is notoriously hard to treat) and the results are amazing. Almost 2 years ago I had filler with not so great results so I was hesitant to do it again but as usual Dr. Vidor delivered with my new injections all the while listening to what I wanted. My results are so beautiful and natural looking and I could not be happier. Dr. Vidor is hands down the best physician I have ever been to, he is down to earth, has a sense of humor, is a perfectionist and always listens to his patients. An added bonus is his staff is also amazing, from his amazing and most wonderful nurse Sue to everyone in the office, they all go out of their way to treat you like a valued patient. I truly hope Dr. Vidor never leaves the area as I will certainly be a lifelong patient of his for all of my eye and cosmetic needs.
