I absolutely love my results from the Profound RF Laser! I decided to do this procedure because I wanted to tighten up my jowls. My entire family has jowls, so I know it's in my future, and I wanted to do something now before it was too late and I needed surgery. I'm so happy I did the procedure; I'm thrilled with my results! I'm getting so many compliments from clients and friends. Everyone is noticing a difference but aren't sure what I did, which is so great! The downtime wasn't so bad. I looked scary but felt fine- no pain after treatment. The hardest part of the procedure was the numbing, but that was over fairly quickly, and then I was comfortable the entire time. Dr. Selene and her staff were great throughout the whole process. I first met with the consultant to see if I was a good candidate, and she walked me through the procedure process so I would know what to expect. The day of the procedure went great. The nurse that performed my treatment was very gentle and made sure I was comfortable. Overall, one of the best procedures I've done. I'm so thankful for Dr. Selene and her staff. I highly recommend Profound RF and Be You Medical by Dr. Selene.
Fillers are where it’s at...if done right. Dr. Selene is a perfectionist and takes time to do an exceptional job. She’s conservative but intentional and gets you natural results that make you looked refreshed and a younger version of yourself not overdone or weird. For me I was hesitant but when I asked her for advice on what I could do to improve my skin she quickly said 4 syringes of Juvederm! She explained where it would benefit me (under eyes, cheeks, lips and nose area. After getting numbed up, she started and it wasn’t painful for most of it. Some parts were a little painful/sensitive but it’s super quick. I’m sensitive so I bruised under one of my eyes and by my lip and had a little swelling but not bad. I would do it again, I love my lips. It’s the lips I used to have :) very natural.
After seeing amazing before and after photos I thought I’d try it out. I consider myself active and pretty in shape but still lack definition in the ab area. I wasn’t sure what to expect but Dr. Selene explained it in detail and answered all my questions, not to mention she’s a walking advertisement for this procedure with her results. It is intense but not painful, you definitely know it’s working. After 2 kids it’s nothing close to a contraction, so don’t let the intense comment scare you. I’d do it again and look forward to future treatments. I wasn’t sore after and I could feel my ab area was a lot tighter. I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for increased definition and muscle strength in this hard to reach area. EMsculpt is the answer.
I can not sing the praises of Dr. Selene enough! I had never had botox or filler before, add the fact that I am not a fan of needles and my nerves were at an all time high. She made me feel so comfortable. We discussed the areas I would like enhanced and came up with a treatment plan together. The end result was exactly what I envisioned. I look more awake, feel more confident and actually had fun during the process! The whole experience from the super sweet receptionists to being treated by Dr. Selene was exactly what I'd hope for in an aesthetic clinic. I trust them 100% and will definitely be returning!
My experience with Dr Selene was everything I expected. I have had a few non invasive procedures, filler, Botox and lasers to my face and body. I am an active woman in her 60's and appreciate the changes this has made in my appearance. I was beginning to see the signs of aging in my face and wanted to look refreshed and healthy. I also had spider veins in my legs that prevented me from wearing shorts because I felt subconscious. The laser treatments made them disappear. Now I can feel comfortable in my shorts and summer dresses again. Dr Selene and her staff are all about making each individual look their best, no unnatural or plastic looks. Now I can me feel beautiful inside and out.
First off I have to say Dr. Seline is amazing. She does all my Botox and is hands down the best most honest and artistic Dr. in Roseville and surrounding areas. (I tried others when she was on maternity leave and she had to fix it for me) I have wanted to to the CO2 resurfacing for a couple years but the $2500 price point was more than I could afford. She was offering a special before she puts the laser away for the summer so I went for it! She has done several of friends who had amazing results. So despite the scary pictures of the week post. I am super excited for the results. I had some sun spots, a couple Melia, and redness and discoloration as well as enlarged pores by my nose. I forgot to take a before picture but I am posting my progress here for you all to see. Updated on 7 Apr 2017: Same miserable as day 2 only much itchier and flaky. Definitely get some Benadryl or Vicodin to help you sleep. I can see baby new skin underneath the flaking skin. Which is exciting. Definitely would not be ready to return to work tomorrow which is day 4 Updated on 8 Apr 2017: Ok. Itching going away. It's still super dry and cracked feeling. No matter how much lotion I put on. I did venture to town for milk with my kids and put some makeup over the redness. Not sure which was worse super red..or crazy flaky with too much makeup. Updated on 14 Apr 2017: So. Ten days after. This pic is in the morning after washing and moisturizing my face. Makeup still looks like a flaky mess on my face. Even though the pic doesn't show it. I'm still slightly pink. People keep asking me if I went skiing. My sun damage is gone!! Wrinkles around my eyes. Are not as much gone as I wanted. But I'll probably have to do another one of these eventually. But keeping in mind this was definitely 2 weeks before I was ok in public and it was uncomfortable itchy and miserable. So make sure you have time to do it. I'm still super dry and have been putting on moisturizer 2-3 times a day. So putting foundation to conceal redness is unrealistic. So far my skin looks amazing though. Aside from a few break outs I got from the aquafor
Do not go here for the Profound Laser! I had previously been to Be You for Botox and that was wonderful. Dr. Selene had suggested I get CO2 laser and Ultherapy. After much research, I decided to go for it. Upon contacting them to set up an appointment (a nightmare through the Klara app) I was told by JoAnna (I think she works the desk) that what I wanted was not CO2 and Ultherapy but Profound laser and that I needed an appointment with their 'laser specialist' to set it up. Instead, I went back to Dr. Selene, and even though I was telling her I wanted the CO2 and Ultherapy she assured me that Profound laser was what I should get, that it would be an amazing improvement in my jawline and turkey neck and smooth out my lines. I set up the appointment. On the day of the procedure, I thought it was odd that no before pictures were taken and no follow up for after pictures were scheduled. Tina RN was wonderful and painfully numbed up my cheek area. She proceeded to perform the procedure on both sides of my lower face and under my jaw telling me they don't do the neck to avoid the thyroid. Nothing was done to any other areas (not what I had seen when looking profound up online). At one point during the procedure the machine started arcing and turned off and Tina said 'its never done that before'. She bought the machine back up and proceeded. I was black and blue and swollen and I would say it was about 3 weeks before my face color was back to normal. Fast forward...My lower face has been getting progressively more and more sallow looking with deeper creases than ever, it's like the Profound treatment took every bit of filling out of my face. The turkey neck of course is the same because it was never treated. I had the treatment in Feb 2020, I was told to wait 6 months for good effect. I think it was in August BeYou sent out an advertisement stating 'get rid of your turkey neck by thanksgiving' with profound. That is when I finally started trying to work things out with them. Their laser specialist contacted me admitting they had dropped the ball not taking before pictures, she asked what would make me happy and I told her I wanted my money back. She offered to do another profound treatment. I told her it damaged my skin and so why would I want another one? She set up another appointment for me with Dr, Selene. I told Dr. Selene how I felt, she again admitted they had dropped the ball and offered to set up a CO2 treatment for me, telling me I would need 5 days off work to recoup. Look up CO2...5 days? really. I went about making arrangements with my work schedule to get the treatment. When I called to make the appointment the now off-site receptionist was wonderful and set up the appointment, I told her I wanted to know what they were doing as the doc said I only needed 5 days off. The receptionist said oh no you will need more time than 5 days. So now I'm thinking...what are they doing, is this a Fraxel treatment or CO2. I asked her to send me the pre and post information on the treatment they were going to perform and she assured me she would email it. Well, here we go again...no email...checked my junk mail...no email. So again a couple of weeks later I am contacting them asking to either speak to the office manager or Dr, Selene. Now Trish the office manager contacts me and says we don't send those out until 7 to 10 days before the procedure and she sends it to me. Frankly, at this point, I have no faith in them and certainly do not trust them with my face. So, I canceled my appointment. I contacted another MD who has practiced dermatology (Dr. Selene is licensed in Emergency Medicine) for years and came highly recommended. She said it would be best to take 2 weeks off, I would be given antiviral and antibiotic medication prior to and after the procedure. I was given 2 Vicodin and 1 valium for the procedure as well as lidocaine...and I can promise you...I still felt it and I am stoic. I got before pictures done and after pictures are scheduled. Dr. Selene's office would have had me take OTC pain control for the procedure and lidocaine. I have been trying to contact Trish now for days and she was finally able to get back to me. Trish states that Dr. Selene can not refund my money but I can have a consultation with their laser specialist again to come up with a skincare regimen. In my opinion, Dr. Selene can refund my money but is choosing not to do the right thing. So, they tell me they realize they dropped the ball and that it probably wasn't the right treatment for me...but, no refund. Hmmm...PLEASE!!! save your face, your time, and don't let me feel like I went through all of this for nothing. DO NOT believe their hype about the Profound laser, and if you got it and are unhappy with it. PLEASE post! save your friends faces.
I've been wanting lip injections for a least 10 years. Naturally, I have basically no upper lip and a VERY thin bottom lip. I was so hesitant because of the pain, the cost, the fear of what it would look like etc. Plus, I didn't know who to go to. Many doctors in my area don't have before and afters on their websites, so I couldn't check their work before I committed. I finally asked around and did some serious research and found a cosmetic dermatologist in my area who was supposed to be the best. I made a consultation appointment about a month ago and the doctor examined my mouth/lips. He said I would never have huge lips like celebrities (I didn't have the anatomy for large lips) but I would see improvement. I was happy with his honesty, and that's all I was really looking for - improvement, not massive lips. Leading up to my injections yesterday, I made sure I followed the recommendations by the doctor: no alcohol, no aspirin, no flax oil, Vit E etc. I wanted to expedite the healing process any way possible. In addition to this, I took Arinca Montana pills starting 2 days before and I'm going to continue to take them for a few more days to help with the bruising and swelling. I also have Arica cream and Valtrex pills incase I get a cold sore! I have a pharmacy at home! My appointment was yesterday at 3pm and I was seriously nervous. When I arrived, the assistant took before pictures, took me into a my room, and put a bunch of numbing cream around my mouth. I got really, really numb. The doctor came in about 20 mins later and discussed with me what I wanted, told me about the Juverderm and after care instructions. He added extra lidocane to the Juverderm since I was so nervous about the pain. The pain was nothing. Seriously hurt LESS than botox. I felt very little. There were little pinches where the needle would go in, and I could feel the pressure of the product being injected, but the pain was ever so slight. If your doctor has a good numbing cream, it's seriously not a big deal! After about 15-20 mins of him poking around, I was done. They gave me a pack of ice and sent me on my way. So far, my recovery has been easy. It's now the next morning. I am swollen, but not too bad. I could go into public if I had to. I don't have any bruising yet. I did ice all evening yesterday and plan on continuing today. Again, I'm also very good about taking my Arnica pills and applying the cream. I have to go back to work in 3 days and don't want to look like a fool. I will update this post is a couple days but I'm pretty sure I will like the final results. Right now they are a little pouty but once the swelling goes down, I'm sure they will look beautiful. Updated on 14 Jun 2017: Gosh, I totally forgot about updating this post! It's been a couple years since! Since this post, I've had my lips done 2 more times. Once by the same dermatologist (Dr. Hearth) and just a few weeks ago by a doctor recommended by my hair stylist (Dr. Selene). I'm surprised by the different technique Dr. Selene used when compared to Dr. Hearth. She was MUCH gentler, I didn't bruise or bleed but I would recommend either doctor! I'm going to get this done forever. I like it more than botox, and that says a lot! Updated on 5 Jul 2017: It's been 7 weeks since getting my lips done by Dr. Selene in Roseville. Unfortunately, I am quite unhappy with my results. As I mentioned in my last update, her technique was much different than Dr. Hearth. Although it was less painful and I didn't bruise, I don't think her technique was appropriate for me. I now have several LARGE lumps on my lips (which I didn't have before) and they are very unnatural looking. Smiling feels tight and almost painful. I'm now getting treatment at a facial plastic surgeons office to correct these injections. Overall, I'm very unsatisfied and can no longer recommend Dr. Selene. I should have left my lips alone.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Performing a hydrafacial 2 days after laser hair removal on the face should not cause wrinkles. The laser can cause hyperpigmentation if you are in the sun a week prior to and after your laser treatment. It is imperative to use sunscreen daily to prevent this. It would be best to follow up with your provider to discuss your concerns and be evaluated.
Hi, That is an excellent question. More often than not, redness can exceed 24 hours. There are many variables that can cause one to have prolonged redness. Factors such as if your provider was more aggressive with the treatment settings, and using topicals such as retinols and acids applied near the treatment time, can play a role in redness. The best thing to do is follow up with your provider as we all appreciate feedback.
Yes for mid face augmentation filler is often placed periosteum or just above the bone. I liken it to a "tack" to hold up the face.
Its true that we can metabolize filler at different rates but metabolizing filler within one week would be unlikely and more than likely just the swelling diminished. I always recommend for patients just to continue to build on their prior filler if they are willing to do filler in a slow and steady way. There are also some great surgical options like lip lifts if filler doesn't turn out to be your thing :).
Hyaluronidase can be used to dissolve fillers such as Restalyn and other HA fillers. It can be used in mini doses or full doses, however it is difficult to control how much it dissolves of the filler in any one setting. Some practices charge for this service and others (likely only if its their own work) may not.
