I HIGHLY recommend going with Dr. Amadi for your lower blepharoplasty! This was one of the best decisions I have ever made! The process took a while for me because of my job and finding the right timing. However, from the moment I entered Dr. Amadi's office and had my initial interactions with Lindsey and Dr. Amadi, I knew he was the surgeon I wanted to help me get rid of my under-eye bags for good! I am truly grateful for this blessing and for Dr. Amadi, who is an amazing surgeon. During my first consultation, I found the information very helpful, and Dr. Amadi answered all my questions about lower blepharoplasty. I wasn’t able to move forward with the surgery right away due to a planned move in a few months. I decided to wait for the perfect timing since I knew there would be a month of downtime and I wanted to take it easy during recovery. Fast forward a year and a half, everything aligned, and I felt ready to proceed! I scheduled a virtual consultation with Dr. Amadi to discuss my surgical plans. After our call, I set a surgery date with Lindsey, and I was all set! Selena was absolutely amazing; she provided the best pre-op and post-op instructions. She was also incredibly supportive on the day of the surgery, ensuring everything went smoothly and that I felt comfortable throughout the procedure. Dr. Amadi was calm and created a welcoming, safe environment that made me feel at home. He clearly explained what he would do during the surgery and consistently checked in to ensure I was comfortable. During the surgery, I didn’t feel anything, and I found the experience quite fascinating! Even though I knew Dr. Amadi was addressing my under-eye bags, I experienced absolutely no pain. As for recovery, I purchased the lid lift goggles and I highly recommend spending the extra $200 on them because they do work and help speed up the healing process, allowing you to let your eyes heal since you can't open them. I followed the recommended directions of using them for 2 hours on and 15 minutes off for the first three days, and then I wore them at night while sleeping for the first week. For medication, I took arnica for three days before the surgery and seven days afterward. I did not need any of the pain medications that were prescribed. Regarding nutrition, as a dietetics student, I delved into the nutritional aspects to prepare my body for the surgery and to aid in the healing process. I highly recommend consulting a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to help guide you with the right nutrients for your surgery. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Amadi. He is an exceptional surgeon, and the results speak for themselves! I am incredibly thankful for this blessing and for Dr. Amadi!
First and foremost, Dr Amadi is incredibly invested in his patients. Many surgeons are procedurally competent but don't have the time or interest for compassion. Dr Amadi is both technically skilled and genuinely considerate. Both his office staff and his surgical staff are equally lovely. I felt safe & comfortable from start to finish. From an aesthetic perspective, I couldn't have asked for more natural results. My face looks exactly the same as it did 15 years ago. Truly exceeded expectations.
Other providers were dismissive of my symptoms with thyroid eye disease but Dr. Amadi took me seriously enough to help me and my eyes are better now after the procedure. I appreciate that he went out of his way to help me.
My undereye hollows--not dark circles from being tired but shadows caused by the shape and position of the bones under my eyes--had always bothered me. I had tear trough filler 15 years ago which did nothing, and again on my 50th birthday, which I deeply regret because not only did it not fix the hollows, it caused puffiness and edema which was worse. This was followed by several attempts to dissolve the filler. I happened to see a new PA at my med spa to dissolve the filler. She pulled off her mask and showed me her perfect post-bleph lids done by Dr AJ Amadi, who specializes in eyes. Beautiful! I had one consultation with Dr Amadi. He was professional and he seemed to take pleasure in measuring my eyes, describing the anatomy of the eye and face and the surgical techniques. Very academic and bookish and very reassuring because I also have a multitude of non-cosmetic eye issues. He inspired confidence. Dr Amadi's staff presented me with options including what he called "the home run" which was upper and lower bleph, ptosis repair on one eye, and tear trough silicone implants attached with titanium screws, done under general anesthesia. The mere thought of this procedure was terrifying. And it wasn't inexpensive. However, I figured if I'm doing this then EFF IT, I AM REALLY DOING THIS. He said we'd see a 75% improvement. I hoped he was deliberately underpromising because he planned to overdeliver. I asked if this surgery would do the trick and what about a brow lift. He could've upsold me but he said there's no reason to do a brow lift on me. Nice. Fast forward to the surgery center in Bellevue. He marks up my eyes. I go under (shout out to anesthesiologist Dr Gold, 10/10 recommend). Four or five hours later I wake up looking like I've been brutally beaten up. Dr Amadi fitted my special compression blepharoplasty goggles that he'd suggested I buy. I went home, rested, took a week off, didn't work out over a month, took it easy. The first week I lay in bed wearing the compression goggles which are meant to be used in place of icing. You can't see through them! You're blind while they're on. Pro tip, get the goggles and be prepared with lots of podcasts lined up. Another pro tip, my husband (shout out to Nick, I have no idea how I'd have done this without his support) set up a Ring camera aimed at me while I was in bed during the daytime so he'd be alerted if I started waving my arms. Why? Turns out it is not a great idea to try to feel your way to the bathroom with zero vision goggles on. The only time I took them off the first week was to put the medicated ointment in my eyes which made my vision super blurry. I wondered if my vision would somehow be permanently affected. It wasn't. The recovery included bruising, swelling that warranted a week of steroids, a stye that needed antibiotics and drops, and anxiety because healing is not linear. One day I was terribly swollen. The next day one side of my face looked great while the other looked bad. The next day it was the other way around. I looked lopsided. I looked lumpy. Suddenly I had huge bruises along my jaw because that's where the blood pooled. Would I ever look good? Did I just make an enormous, expensive mistake even worse than getting the great trough filler? Should I have left well enough alone? Although I'd been warned, I was mentally unprepared for the sh*t show of anxiety. Fast forward again. I'm a year out from the surgery. I don't think about my hollows anymore because I don't have them anymore. When I close my eyes to put on eyeshadow (which is so much fun these days!) I see faint white scars--but only if I'm looking for them. I am unaware of the fact that there are implants under my eyes because they do their job without being at all noticeable. Do I sometimes think, hmm, what if he'd taken off a tiny bit more skin? I'm a big fan of what ifs, to my detriment in case that's not obvious so yeah, I do. Am I happy? Yes! Very! Would I do it again? Yes! Regrets? Hand on my heart, I wish I had done this much sooner. It was worth it. This seems like a good time to say that my eyes look so good that it got me started thinking about procedures like face and neck lift haha! Segue to--I subsequently had Erbium laser on my eyelids with PA Maria Amadi. That was the finishing touch. Nice! Many thanks to Dr Amadi and his lovely, super, knowledgeable A++ staff.Btw, I feel like I got to know Dr a bit better throughout the process. I feel like under all the initial medical jargon straight face he's not just an excellent surgeon, he's a good guy with a New Yorker's sense of humor. Don't overthink it or question the process like I did. Just do
Choosing Dr. Amadi for my eyelid surgery was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I've made. From the initial consultation to the post-operative care, the experience has been nothing short of exceptional, thanks to Dr. Amadi and his remarkable team. I wanted this surgery for years but was terrified it would change my appearance. Words cannot express my joy at being able to see my upper eyelids again, and the transformation in my appearance while still looking like myself is truly remarkable. My eyes now exude a newfound openness and brightness that I never thought possible. The results have exceeded my expectations, with an invisible scar and remarkably swift healing process. Remarkably, the procedure itself was so comfortable that I have no recollection of it whatsoever. What sets Dr. Amadi apart is his unwavering dedication to ensuring optimal outcomes for his patients. Despite initially planning for just upper eyelid surgery, Dr. Amadi recommended both lower and upper eyelid surgeries. His concern for achieving the desired outcome without compromising on quality truly sets him apart. He listened to my ever concern (which I must admit includes some serious OCD) throughout the entire process. I deeply appreciate Dr. Amadi's emphasis on prioritizing the patient experience and satisfaction, recognizing that undergoing such procedures is a significant investment, both emotionally and financially. Without hesitation, I recommend Dr. Amadi. He is the absolute best surgeon to help anyone achieve their goals.
I am so happy I chose Dr. Amadi to do my eyelid surgery. From consultation to post-op I can't say enough good things about Dr. Amadi and his team. I am thrilled to be able to see my upper eyelids again and have my eyes appear more open and bright. So happy with the result. the scar is invisible, the healing was quick, and I was so comfortable during the procedure, I don't even remember it! What really impresses me about Dr. Amadi is I had planned both lower and upper eyelid surgeries. He did one final assessment and we decided to just go with the upper lid as he was concerned I would not get the outcome I wanted without modifying the procedure. I really appreciate the Dr. Amadi prioritizes patient experience and how a patient feels about the outcome of procedure, which is a big investment. I am excited for my next procedure and feel so confident that I found the right surgeon for my goals.
Dr. Amadi and his staff were exceptional throughout my eyebrow lift and upper and lower eyelid surgery, from the first pre-op visit to the final post-op review. I truly could not recommend him more for his professionalism. This was my first cosmetic surgery, and I did not know what to expect. When I went to Dr. Amadi's office in Queen Anne it was more like going to a high end, clean home, except the rooms were all highly professional and ready for surgery. Most importantly, I am very happy with my results. In fact, Dr. Amadi went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with everything, including an additional procedure that he did voluntarily to ensure I got exactly what I wanted.
Dr Amadi is a lovely human being and a talented surgeon with an extraordinary eye for detail. My entire life, my eyes had always been my best feature - kind looking and sparkly. But aging / menopause and grief after a family tragedy had really done a number on them. I could barely stand to look at pictures of myself - eyelids drooping, lax, crepey skin, deep wrinkles. I didn’t even look like me anymore. Still, I really struggled with the idea of having plastic surgery as I was worried about looking “done” or unnatural. Once I found Dr Amadi, I felt sufficiently confident to move forward - he’s great at answering all of your questions and very realistic and direct about what he can and can’t deliver. But more importantly, his patients all end up with natural looking and very subtle results. I had a brow lift, upper bleph and lower bleph with fat repositioning and an Amadi peel all on the same day. The pain was a challenge the first day but by day 4 I didn’t need pain meds any more. I looked utterly gruesome for about a week but began healing very quickly once my stitches were removed. But after about 2 weeks, the swelling receded, my results emerged and I was just in awe of how soft and natural looking they were. My eyes and brows look like “me” again (the “me” of about 20 years ago) but nothing about the result suggests I had surgery. I really couldn’t be happier — I only wish I’d done it sooner. Thank you for giving me my happy sparkle back, Dr Amadi.
I recently had a face and neck lift done by Dr Amadi Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. I could not be happier. The staff was caring and professional every step of the way. They answered all my questions and the results are amazing and so natural. I did have a slight infection that Dr Amadi addressed right away and his staff kept in constant contact with me regarding my healing process. Highly recommend!!!
I had a lower blepharoplasty three months ago after many years of considering this procedure. I am fifty and this was the first procedure I'd ever had and was apprehensive about how I would look and the recovery. Dr. Amadi's staff were supportive, patient, and very professional. All of my questions were answered and I felt more at ease. The procedure was exactly as I was told and the results are really great. Dr. Amadi is clearly a skilled surgeon as I look refreshed and a more rested version of myself. I highly recommend Dr. Amadi. Thank you for giving me a much needed fresh start!
This is a great question because not all Oculoplastic surgeons are "Oculofacial" plastic surgeons. Some limit their practice to eyelids and eyebrows, while some of us do the full range of face and neck rejuvenation. Review their website to see what types of procedures they offer, and more importantly review their before and after photos and make sure that the results are in line with what you are looking for. I also recommend that they are ASOPRS-trained. The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery sets the standards of training for Oculoplastics and Oculofacial Plastic Surgeons. Virtual consultations are available (see link below)
Yes, this can be addressed with lower lid retraction repair, most commonly with a graft on the inside of the eyelids. This is scarless eyelid surgery.
If you has 5 different surgeons, you might get five different answers. Surgeon training may be a major reason for surgeon preference. If they were trained one way, that's the way they will be best at. For reference, I used to remove fat and then add fat. I've since evolved my technique so that I will do fat repositioning primarily with individual variation (trim, additional fat grafting).
The lower bulge on the right side is not consistent with lower eyelid fat prolapse and is most likely swelling. This is often called malar bags/festoons and most likely is associated with filler injections as hyaluronic acid based fillers are hydrophilic, ie they attract water. First plan of actions should be to try to dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase enzyme, if there has EVER been any filler placed in eyelids or cheeks. If you have NEVER had any fillers in your face, then you could consider Morpheus microneedling coupled with Accutite RF treatments.
The reason your left eye looks smaller can be either: 1. a droopy upper eyelid or 2. The left eye is more sunken in than your right eye (or your right eye is more bulgy) Seek an evaluation by an Oculofacial plastic surgeon that specializes in eyelid and orbital (eye socket) surgery. Virtual consultations are available, if you are open to traveling for your surgery.
