Over 80 years old Implants vs Crown+posts. Failed bridge (#29-31). Options: 1st- Implants #29 & 30 + bridge. 2nd- #29 RCTxl, post+crown, #30 implant, and #31 post+crown (prev RCTx). Lost #30 age 10. Failed bridge was 10 yrs old. Previous bridge 30 yrs. No other missing teeth. 83 yr F good health, 1 missing tooth, no implants. Option 2 less painful and shorter treatment. Just had #19 SCL & Dr Px low-fair. If I don't outlive crown+posts will implants still be age-appropriate? I hate liquid dinner.
I fe'ed upper central incisor, at the gum line. Dentist recommends a tooth implant, expensive and potentially time consuming. I prefer a quicker and less expensive pin and post but he says risk of root fracture is too great even if the root is intact. He did recommend bridging four teeth to provide strength needed to secure the restoration. I am 88 years old and worried both implant and bridge are overkill. If root is in tact why root fracture risk high? What are pros and cons of each restoration?
84 year old needs denture replacement. He no lower teeth and receding gums . Dentures are "floating" eating limited and he is loosing weight. What are options for replacement low cost? Implants are not good investment based on age. Individual has Tricare, Medicare and Medicaid (A&B)
