The dentist who originally put in my side bondings said no drilling was necessary and that acid etiching was sufficient. After about one year, one of them came out and I had it replaced by a new dentist. The new dentist insisted that roughening the tooth surface with a drill was necessary in addition to acid etching (this is on the actual tooth surface, as I have gum recession that exposes the tooth below the enamel). There is still ~4mm tooth structure left--is this sustainable? Opinions?
My dentist etched the front surface of 4 of my teeth to help them absorb a whitening product. Now those teeth are dull and rough. He said the glossy shine will come back as the teeth rehydrate themselves, but it's been over a month and they at still dull. And rough. Is this true and if not, what should I do?
I had bonding done to my top lateral incisors to make them appear longer. They fell off probably 8 times within a month. I am friends with my dentist so I would keep going back and he would re-do the bonding. I noticed that he never used an etching acid gel. One or two times he roughed up the tooth but that was about the only prep that was done. Could this be the reason they keep falling off or could this be attributed to my hard bite?
Today I had my front two top teeth bonded to fill a gap between them. During the bonding process, I had a horrible taste of some kind of solution in my mouth that was dripping down my throat that the dentist applied. I tried my best not to swallow it but I did swallow some. Hours later, my throat still hurts making my stomach's upset. The dentist said it's called Dental Etch. I am scared I had too much toxic stuff go into my my throat and body? Have i been poisoned?
Six year old son has enamel hypoplasia. Front tooth had yellow spot. Doctor filled it but said because of Hypoplasia it could come off. Doctor etched front tooth before bonding. If the bonding comes off, will the etching (with liquid) be visible? Will it make the tooth look worse?
