Teosyal is a collection of hyaluronic acid–based dermal fillers that’s intended to add or restore volume and smooth lines in the face and neck. It’s more commonly used in Europe, but Teosyal was cleared by the FDA in late 2017 and is expected to be increasingly available in the U.S.
It’s used to augment the lips, cheeks, and chin as well as to smooth fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead, around the eyes and mouth, and on the neck and chest.
Teosyal’s formula is soft and malleable, allowing it to move flexibly with facial expressions and sit smoothly under the skin. This makes it a good option for filling in hollows under the eyes, where the skin is quite thin.
As with Juvéderm and Restylane, each filler in the Teosyal collection is formulated for specific purposes and areas. Your provider will determine the best product for your concerns.
Getting Teosyal injections usually takes less than 30 minutes. Your provider will cleanse the injection site and may apply a topical anesthetic, if the filler being used doesn’t contain numbing lidocaine. Then they’ll gradually inject the filler and gently massage it with their fingertips to ensure it’s even and smooth. You may have some bruising and swelling, but that should dissipate quickly.
You’ll see results immediately, and they’ll continue to improve over two to four weeks as the hyaluronic acid attracts moisture to the area to hydrate and plump the skin.
Teosyal can last up to 22 months, depending on how your body metabolizes it, your skin type, the area treated, and the volume of product injected.
Pros
Cons
The price you’ll pay will depend on which Teosyal product is used, the amount injected, your provider’s level of experience, and their practice location.
