Hello everyone!
Long story short, I am a 25-year-old male that has suffered from mild to moderate Acne, possible severe at times. Like most of you, just plain old sick of pimples, redness and lack of confidence.

Story - I have been on Accutane since August 1st, 2014 until now (November 12th, 2015), so overall, nearly 3.5 months. I started off with 20mg every weekday for the first 3 months, now doing 20mg every weekday with 40mg on Saturday and Sunday. Planning to continue this to at least month six of the cycle. I may extend accutane for another 3 months due to my low dosage, which I am fine with. If you're like me, you would do anything to free your face from acne.

1st month - Within the first week, I went red and extremely oily. I basically looked like a pale German attempting to tan in the Australian sun. In addition to the epic redness, the oiliness made it so much worst. My fingers would somewhat slip across my skin if I tried to touch a pimple. – Funny but gross!
Due to the redness, my face didn’t look that bad considering I was being treated for acne.
When it came down to lips, they started to dry and crack pretty quickly. If you’re like me, you were prepared and tried to stay on top of it. Papaw ointment seemed to do the trick, much better than expensive behind the counter balms.

2nd month – Month 2 was similar to month 1, however I started to obtain muscle and joint pain. This became problematic as I do like to train, especially chest and shoulders. By the 6th week, I could not even lift the bar for bench press, nor could I lift dumbbells whilst on the incline. My back also become quite sore, especially after long shifts in front of the computer. To be honest, this has been the worst side affect.
When it came to outbreaks, well this is when sh*t got real! The redness eased but acne got pretty crazy, especially in places that you’ve always had problems with. Each day, new development would occur with no hesitation. To be honest, some pimples felt like they were pulsating – wish I were joking!
Lips were still dry but nothing too bad as I apply ointment about 589 times a day. Just keep applying – you don’t want to feel like sandpaper when making out with someone, just saying! Eyes also became dry and really sore. This actually made you feel crappy and tired, especially after long shifts. Eye drops do the trick!
Hope this month isn’t scaring you….

3rd month – When I hit month 3…..Bam, clear face. Pimple free, complexion was looking great, blackhead vanishing and pours getting smaller. It took about 5 days before I saw another pimple, and even then, it was small and insignificant. Since then, I have not had any major outbreak, nor have I had any large, deep pimples that drive you insane. Redness has eased massively and I look whiter than ever (very un-Australian). Lips are still fine, but as I said, I apply ointment all the time. Don’t leave the house without it.
Unfortunately my joints still hurt and my eyes still burn but that won’t go away until I stop the drug. Measure up the pros and cons and see if you can deal with that…. But it will be worth it ?

Anyways, be patient and let the drug do its thing. It’s awesome and relaxing just having a shower and cleaning your face and that’s it. None of this 3-4 step procedures that drive you insane. Maybe it’s too early to say this as I am not fully cured and I may relapse, but it really is a miracle drug.

I can go out and relax/party/chill without feeling unconfident – just awesome. Note, I haven’t drunk much on the drug, which is bloody hard but just deal with it.
