After being diagnosed with the BRCA-2 gene and a strong family history of breast cancer I underwent a prophylactic double mastectomy in Nashville at the age of 22. I went through drains, expanded and had reconstructive surgery 5-months after my double mastectomy. I had done my research and found two surgeons whom I believed to be the best. My surgery was performed at VUMC and I was hospitalized for 5 days.
The last six years have been so good to me. I got married and was blessed with a beautiful daughter.
Over time I noticed physical changes from my surgery that made me feel unattractive. I began to see shallow places/dips in different areas of my breasts. I could also feel the edges of my silicone implants under my skin. I began to start having pain. My scar began show through my clothes where before I wasn't having to wear a bra. My implants were way too wide for my body frame. So many changes had taken place that I was unhappy with. With the encouragement of my husband I made a consultation appointment with Dr. Bharti. I was so impressed by his overall knowledge as he discussed my options. He was so easy to talk to. In November, Dr. Bharti performed a surgical revision of my double mastectomy. Dr. Bharti injected fat into my areas of concern which were previously depressed, revised my pocket size and exchanged my old implants for anatomical implants.
It's been 2.5 months and I am so happy with the results. No more pain or discomfort. My breasts feel and look real. My scars are less than half of their previous size. Dr. Bharti is an excellent plastic surgeon! He also has great bedside manner. I am so pleased with Dr. Bharti and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for any type of reconstruction.
