Prior to the surgery I only had a little loose skin near my belly button when I leaned forward. Im 5'1 - 91lbs. I had first been told that I only needed the hernia and diastasis repair and then after the surgery my Dr told me that I should have had a tummy tuck. I am very depressed to be left with my stomach looking this way when it was smooth prior to the surgery. . I fear that I will be needing a surgery to correct
Answer: Loose Skin Requires Excision Without a before picture, it is impossible to comment on he results from the surgery that you had to correct the diastasis. Anytime that you are elevating the skin to repair the diastasis, it will lead to looser skin when the fascia is tightened. You look like you would have been a fantastic candidate for abdominoplasty to be performed at the same time. Did they offer this to you? On the bright side is that you likely now can have a skin only abdominoplasty as your disastsis is already repaired. This should be a much quicker and surgery and recovery. I would suggesting discussing this with your surgeon.Good Luck.

Answer: Tummy tuck after diastasis repair It looks to me as though you had whatever surgery was covered by insurance and, while it corrected the internal problems, left you with those "Sherpa" wrinkles. These can be taken care of in a modified tummy tuck. See a board certified plastic surgeon for a consultation. In all likelihood, your abdomen wasn't smooth preoperatively; you may want to obtain your pre-op photos for review as they would be quite helpful.

Answer: Excess Belly Skin Will Require Tummy Tuck It is difficult to comment on your current condition without knowing what you looked like beforehand and what procedures were performed. Currently it appears that you have a significant amount of excess skin that would require a surgical procedure, such as a tummy tuck, to correct. Your best bet would be to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon so that you can be examined and you can discuss your available options. Best wishes on achieving your aesthetic goals.

Answer: Skin Only Abdominoplasty I am sorry about any misunderstanding but it certainly appears by your one picture that you can use a skin only abdominoplasty. Consult your surgeon and if you are happy with him, you can pursue more surgery. In my NJ practice a skin only abdominoplasty has a total cost of $6100, which includes board certified professional fee, b/c anesthesia fee, and Medicare approved facility fee. Your surgeon may give you a better fee as it is a revision to his surgery.
