Wisdom Teeth and Lipo?

I was told that it would be best to wait until my wisdom teeth extraction site heals before having lipo. "A transient bacteremia from any residual open wound in the mouth could seed the site of your liposuction and cause a serious infection." But would it be alright if I had lipo before the wisdom teeth removal? If so, how soon can I do that? As well, how long will I be on antibiotics from the lipo procedure? Thank you.

Liposuction and Wisdom Teeth Extraction

I don't think there is any correlation between wisdom teeth extraction and liposuction and the risk of infection. Neither involves the placement of a synthetic implant and both are initially clean procedures, provided the wisdom teeth are not infected or had a recent bout of pericoronitis. Antibiotics for a few days

Hello, Surgeons vary on post-op antibiotics. You are probably looking at a few days. You could have the lipo first and a week or two later do the wisdom teeth as long a your dentist and plastic surgeon are OK with it. Docs are kinda opinionated. :) Best Regards, John Di Saia MD

Lipo

The length of time you are on antibitoics varies from surgeon to surgeon. Anywhere form 1 day to 1 week. You could have your lipo done before your procedure and the in a couple of weeks have your teeth removed. I would advise my patients to wait until the gums have healed prior to undergoing lipo.

How long should you wait to have liposuction after dental work?

While I would be concerned about placing a foreign body like breast implants immediately after dental work, the risk of having a transient bacteremia cause a problem with liposuction is extremely small. Most people aren't going to have liposuction on the day of their wisdom tooth extraction anyway. After that, you shouldn't have to wait more than two or three days.
