What is the Minimum Recovery Time for a Mommy Makeover?

Because it sounds like you have a fairly high tolerance for pain, I think that you could be back to work around 10-14 days.  No lifting more than 20 lbs. for about 6 weeks.  Good luck!

Mommy makeovers are one of the most popular procedures in the U.S. because of the transformation that is possible from the surgery.    

Mommy makeover is a broad term that describes a tummy tuck and breast surgery which could include breast augmentation, breast lift or a breast lift with augmentation.  The broad definition of the procedure makes the recovery time variable for the surgery.    

There are several new advancements in the procedure that has decreased the recovery time after the mommy makeover.

 

The use of Exparel – a long acting local anesthetic that is injected during the procedure to provide discomfort relief for three days. 
Drains are often rarely used as well.  Special suturing techniques can prevent the need for these drains.   
These two advancements have allowed patients to have a more comfortable and swift recovery from their mommy makeover. 
The recovery for the breast portion of the mommy makeover is variable depending if a person has a breast augmentation alone, or a breast lift and augmentation.

In general patients, should give themselves at least two weeks to recover from the procedure so that they can maximize their results.

A properly performed mommy makeover by a board certified plastic surgeon with many years of experience in cosmetic surgery and thousands of patients can result in a beautiful outcome with moderate discomfort. The procedure is done in an outpatient surgery center, and the patient can typically return to work at two weeks. We see patients in follow-up at 1 day, 5 days, 7 days, 9 days, 14 days, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, and every year after that forever (all of this is free). Pain is moderate, though pain medicine is provided. It takes about two months before one can resume exercise. Overall, it is a safe operation with high patient satisfaction rates.

Sounds like you did a great after the c-section. At 5'4"/116lbs you are in great shape.
I would give yourself a minimum of 10-14 days before work with these provisions...
1. I would use lovenox post-op (subQ shots daily for about 5 days postop) ask your surgeon about this to prevent clots/embolus
2. Wear support hose post-op for at least 3-4 week post...especially if you're going to be at a sitting desk job.
3. Get good support garments for post-op wear...it will decrease swelling/edema as well as helping the healing process.
4. I routinely have my augmentation patients take 1000-2000 IU of Vitamin E orally post-op. This definitely helps to decrease capsular contracture incidence (You want soft, natural perky breasts)
5. I have my patients get manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) to the breasts, abdomen and flank areas. This will also decrease swelling and improve healing.
6. I start all of my surgical patients on Vitamedica pre and postop.
7. Get a bra with good lateral support to stabilize the implant position and good inferior support (wide band, not underwire to prevent bottoming out!
Sounds like a lot, but it all helps the end results!

With a full mommy makeover including breast lift and
implants with a tummy tuck and liposuction I would recommend approximately 10
days to 2 weeks off work. This is assuming the patient has a desk type job.
Everybody recovers differently and some people feel better sooner than others,
however it is extremely rare to have a patient who is not able to at least manage
basic deskwork after a two-week period. I would advise most patients against
pushing much sooner than 7-10 days as they often have a sense of fatigue and
may slow down the healing process if they are over doing things too quickly.
For patients who have more physical work such as a massage therapist or a job
that requires lifting a lot of things the patient may need to request light
duty for a longer period of time to allow the body to heal properly. I
generally prefer patients avoid lifting anything heavy for at least 4-6 weeks
after a mommy makeover.

A recovery with Mastopexy, breast Augmentation and tummy tuck can look very overwhelming because of the multiple areas involved.
As surgeons we understand the need not to feel "comatose" secondary to medications, but we also know that its important to take your pain medication as scheduled in the early days of surgery to avoid those "un bearable" stretches

In my practice i often combine Multi Modal Therapy (3-4 different pain medications taken at different intervals) along with anaesthetic blocks (such as a TAP or Spinal).

These two modalities have changed how my patients recover and most of them are in good spirits by as early as a few days, and none of them have the nasty side effects of excessive narcotic use.

Most patients are able to perform their normal activities of daily living at around 10 to 14 days and this includes most desk jobs.
It does takes about 2-4 months for full recovery. Women with small children usually need help with their children for about 3 weeks.

Hi there, this is a great question. Typically, patients can be sitting at a desk within 3-4 days following the surgery, provided that you are no longer taking any narcotic pain medications.

For my patients having a mommy makeover procedure, I recommend that they take 10 days off of work, three weeks off of cardio at the gym, and six weeks off of weight training and yoga exercises. I recommend consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can create a surgical plan for you. Best of luck!

As a general guide you could possibly consider returning to an office based environment doing light work after 2 weeks.  However, to be safe I encourage my patients to return to work after 3 weeks.  After 6 weeks, I tell my patients they are free to attempt normal strenuous activities. Given this, any employment that involves heavy lifting and straining should be avoided for 6 weeks. 

The recovery from the tummy tuck part of the surgery is your rate limiting  factor.      This varies patient to patient, but I would say most patients should plan on a week off of work.    If you are at a desk job you should be able to return after one week off.      You will need to avoid heavy lifting and strenuous abdominal exercises for 6 weeks.
