One of the mostcommon questions that patients ask me is if buttock augmentation with implantswill be painful. The short answer isthat it depends on the type of butt augmentation surgery a person has done. Like breastaugmentations the implant can be placed above or below the muscle. When the implant is placed below the muscleor in the middle of the muscle patients can have a significant amount of painafter their surgery, as the muscle is being stretched and pulled. My personaltechnique is what is called sub-fascial. The implant is placed above the muscle but under the fascia. The fascia is the strong covering around themuscle. The benefit of this technique isthat the fascia still holds the implant in place and decrease the chance ofscar tissue like it would beneath the muscle. However since it is above the muscle patients have less pain and lesslikely hood of complications that are associated with sub-muscular placement ofbutt implants. for only a few days. Similar to a breast implant, the butt implant is placed within the gluteus maximus muscle. Because of this placement, there will be pain associated because of muscle spasms. There are medications to ease the pain until the muscles adapt to the change.
Buttock Implants - are they painful? During the first few days, there will be discomfort associated with the procedure, but it normally begins to die down after a week or two. The main issue with buttock implants is that you will not be able to sit down until there is adequate healing. Patients need to understand that following buttock implants, they will not be able to sit down for at least 2 weeks and will not be able to resume most normal activities for up to 6 weeks or more if there are any problems with healing. More rigorous activities will not be able to be enjoyed for about two months after the buttock implants. Patient may also need to wear a compression garment offering support to the area.
