Can I exercise after a skin tightening treatment?

Can you exercise after a skin tightening treatment on your butt & thighs?

I was told I could not exercise or "sweat" after I have this treatment when I went to a consultation. Is this true? It sounded strange to me.

A: Okay to exercise immediately after skin tightening treatment

Yes, you can go back immediately to your daily routine after Thermage done on your body as long as you feel like it. There is no medical reason for you to avoid any activities. That is one of the pluses with Thermage, there is no downtime.

HI jennandmacie, You aren't the 1st person I have heard this from.  I have heard this from my own patients that other practitioners have told them not to exercise after a skin tightening procedure.  At least for me, I only perform Thermage for non-surgical skin tightening and there are no restrictions at all after the procedure; you can exercise, eat whatever you want, etc...  I'm not sure what the scientific basis is for telling people not to exercise after a skin-tightening procedure.  The only reason i can even remotely think of is to not stretch out the skin immediately after the procedure.  This sounds unscientific to me however b/c even by walking, sleeping, brushing your teeth, etc... that part of your body will move in some fashion.  Skin tightening that is going to last shouldn't be affected by such a minimal movement, even exercise.  Long lasting skin tightening is secondary to new collagen growth and exercise should not affect the stimulus created by the skin tightening procedure at all.  If you find a logical sounding reason to support the claim to not exercise, I would love to hear it.
