My Tee Shirt is Stuck, 9 Days Post Op?

Question

my tee shirt is stuck to my tummy. i am 9 days post op from tummy tuck. how do i get it off without ripping it open? My doctor said not to use gauze just wear a white tee shirt under my garment but now its stuck n when I pull it bleeds pls help

Dear Carmen. In addition to showering, you may also try hydrogen peroxide. It tends to break up old blood and scabs. Between you and me, I've never heard of a surgeon not putting any dressings on potentially weeping wounds.

First, check with your surgeon.

	If no one can be found, get in the shower, let is soak until it comes off easily. 

	Try putting some non-stick gauze from the pharmacy over the incision next few times.

Usually, you can soak the dressing or tee shirt off your tummy tuck incision with water or dilute hydrogen peroxide. To prevent it from sticking again apply polysporin or neosporin ointment. Check first with your surgeon to see if this would be appropriate in your case. Best wishes.
