Exercise and Hair Transplant

I advise my transplant patients to avoid any strenuous elevation of the heart rate and blood pressure for two weeks post procedure.

Working out after hair transplant.

This can be done 4 weeks later even with heavy exercise. Running can be done gradually after 3 weeks.

How Long Until I Can Work out After Hair Transplant Surgery?

In our practice, we instruct the patient to wait until we remove the sutures/staples (8 to 10 days) before going back to normal activity. The more active you are during this period increases the chances of having a more pronounced scar in the donor site. Normal walking is permitted during this period.

Exercise after hair transplant

I recommend patients wait one week (7 days) before resuming exercise.  That should allow an adequate amount of time for the grafts to heal in the recipient sites.

Exercise after hair transplant

I advise patients that they can return to full exercise, with the exception of swimming, on the 6th day after surgery. However, I strongly suggest you speak with your surgeon.

Exercise One Month After Transplant Is No Problem

I do not know of a problem working out, getting your heart rate or blood pressure up, or doing most activities at this point. I would agree that avoiding dirty water (swimming pools included) for another month is a good idea. In my experience, patients can return to strenuous exercise in about 2 weeks without a problem.

Exercise after Hair Transplants

You can exercise one month after surgery as long as you do not wear tight head bands or caps, which will not cause any permanent damage, but may increase post-operative swelling. Avoid swimming for another month because you don't want to soak fresh wounds. Get back in the gym. It would be a shame to spend that time and money to improve your appearanceand then end up fat and out of shape.
