Treatment of chemical burn scar to face.

Otto Joseph Placik, MD answers: Possible treatment for burn-related scar on face?

Hello there, Just some background on my problem. About 3.5 weeks ago, I used some Dettol on my face (stupid idea). It burned me, leaving a dark circular mark. About 3 days after the incident, the skin peeled away and the underlying skin looked normal, resembled the rest of my face. About 4 days later I noticed the mark returned, it was fainter though. For the last 2.5 weeks I've been using Bio-oil on the mark. I was wondering what I should do next? Should I leave the mark alone? Will it go away itself? Thanks!

I would seek care by a professional such as a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Over the counter preparations with silicone and sun block may be beneficial.

Use of bleaching agents and steroids should be montiored and prescribed by a medical professional.

I am not a fan of mederma, aloe vera, vitamin E, etc.
