QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Can a person have abdominal etching if they have diastasis recti?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
This is actually a very common question that we here in our practice. Abdominal etching is a very specific and delicate form of liposculpture that we commonly performed when we do body contouring. Abdominal etching is performed by using multiple different types of liposuction to go ahead and not only debulk deep fat, but to remove small amounts of superficial fat around the bony framework, the muscle contours, and the tendinous transcriptions. When this is done meticulously, the patient can expect to obtain a very toned and athletic results and even a sixpack.
The most important thing that a patient should check before receiving this procedure is that they are working with a plastic surgeon that is board-certified by the American Board of plastic surgery. You need someone with this level of training and expertise to get the best possible result.
In patients with a rectus diastasi, it is possible to get a beautiful and toned result, but liposuction or liposculpture alone may not be enough. In a patient with separated abdominal muscles, if they only receive abdominal etching they will have the lines of muscle, but there abdomen will still be bulging and round. To the eye this can look very weird. We call this result the teenage mutant ninja abdomen, because like a mutant ninja turtle they will have the outlines of a sixpack on a big belly. For these patients, in our practice we combine liposculpture with a small or a mini tummy tuck. In a mini tummy tuck the patient can have a 4 inch incision through which we can do a complete muscle repair at the same time. This will accomplish the patient's overall goal of having a sculpted abdomen as well as a tight and flat tummy.

How long after Abdominal Sketching does it take to see final results?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Patients often ask how long can they see the final results after abdominal etching procedure. We tell patients that anybody contouring procedure will have subsequent swelling and asymmetry and unevenness that can last for up to 10 to 12 months. However the day after the procedure you will definitely see a big change. We tell patients to take a very good look the day after the procedure as we use garments are custom-made for our patients and the technique of liposculpture to prevent the onset of swelling. The day after the procedure the patient can look terrific and then afterwards swelling can begin. In plastic surgery, the old adage is true that an ounce of prevention is worth many pounds of cure. Our practice works very hard with the patients in using different types of compression molds, boards, phone, vests, corsets, and custom garments to prevent the body from swelling in the first place. This will help the patient achieve their final results as quickly as possible. When you decide to receive abdominal etching, make sure that you are working with a plastic surgeon that is board-certified by the American Board of plastic surgery and that he has multiple types of liposuction to offer as well as years of experience doing this technique. This will help you get the best possible results

Who is the best candidate for Abdominal Etching?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Abdominal etching is a terrific technique in body contouring that combines old-fashioned debulking of fat with liposuction and the superficial removal of small amounts of fat with liposculpture around the patient's bony framework, the muscle contours, and the tendinous transcriptions. If this delicate procedures done correctly. The patient can expect a very toned and athletic appearance and a six pack. Ideal candidates for this procedure are patients who have good quality skin tone and whose muscles are in the right position. This does not mean that only these patients can receive this procedure. In our practice, if the patient has loose skin or a separation of muscles due to weight loss or previous pregnancy, we often combine abdominal etching with another body contouring procedure such as a mini tummy tuck or a small tummy tuck to address all these issues at one time and to give the patient a toned appearance. More important than the ideal candidate for abdominal etching is the ideal candidate of the doctor who is actually going to do this delicate procedure. Patients should only work with plastic surgeons that are board-certified by the American Board of plastic surgery, offer multiple different types of liposuction, and have a great deal of experience in this technique. Remember that liposuction just like a paintbrush is a tool or instrument. More important than the tool are the people on either end of it and the understanding and trust that they have in each other.

BBL without abdomen lipo? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
A BBL is a powerful and flexible technique that combines liposuction many parts of the body, cleaning the fact that is collected, and using this healthy fat to graft to multiple areas of the patient desires. Fact can be collected from many different sites, not only the abdomen. The abdomen is often used because this is an area where most of us can spare a little fat and also liposuction of the abdomen really complements the overall look of an improve contour of the butt. The answer to your question is yes! A BBL can be done without lipo of the abdomen, but more importantly, you should ask yourself. "Why not do liposuction to this area?" Have a discussion with your plastic surgeon about the quality of your fat, the thickness of your abdominal fat, and the quality and tone of your skin. Also ask your surgeon how he or she will avoid contour and skin deformities from liposuction. Make sure that they have a good strategy to avoid this. Contour deformities should not happen after liposuction if the planning is done beforehand and the procedure is done correctly. Most likely, be sure that you are working with an experienced plastic surgeon who is board-certified in the American Board of plastic surgery. You and your tummy deserve nothing less.

1st Half marathon - 1 week before Lipo and BBL. Any suggestions?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Congratulations on your first half marathon! This is an incredible accomplishment. Liposuction can be performed safely at a time but ideally, when the patient is at their stable body weight. If you feel that you will recover and be at your stable body weight in one week after your marathon, you can safely have the procedure. More importantly, because you're going to reuse the fat for your BBL procedure, have an in-depth talk with your plastic surgeon to make sure that you have sufficient fat at the time of your procedure to get the results that you are looking for. Keep in mind that a portion of the fat that is going to be used in the fat transfer will be absorbed. For this reason, when we performed a BBL we always inject extra fat to counter this. Make sure that your plastic surgeon understands your body weight, fat content, skin quality and most importantly your expectations. Make sure that you have enough fat to meet your expectations. Congratulations on your half marathon you're an inspiration to all of us.

What if you have complications after returning home from BBL?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
This is a very important question that every patient should ask before proceeding with the surgery. If a BBL is performed by a competent and experienced board-certified plastic surgeon, complications are quite rare. Make sure that you discuss with your doctor what his or her personal rate of complications are and your surgeons plan to address them. All doctors have a policy for helping a patient with a complication or a revision if one is necessary. Be sure you understand this policy before your procedure.

I have Ulnar Tunnel but I want BBL. Am I putting my life in danger?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
In our practice, we have performed BBL's on a wide variety of patients. This procedure can safely be done in the patient with a medical condition as long as medical condition is well understood and very well controlled. Ulnar tunnel syndrome is a type of compression to your ulnar nerve that can create the results that you described. Patients with the syndrome can safely receive a BBL if a thorogh medical clearance is performed beforehand and if great care is taken to have been elbow and arms during the procedure and to control the amount of swelling afterwards. In our practice, we routinely turned the patient during surgery 360° to collect the maximum amount of fat and to create a natural result while fat grafting. In our OR, we use gel and foam padding throughout all extremities and have redesigned the foam padding on the operating room tables to ensure patient comfort and safety. Make sure that you have a discussion with your plastic surgeon before hand and review his or her plan to avoid compression on your arms throughout the procedure and understand afterwards what he or she will do to minimize the amount of swelling you will have afterwards.

How can I maximize my bbl fat ?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
In our practice, we work closely with patients to maximize results that they can achieve after a BBL procedure. It is common to perform a BBL with other plastic surgery procedures but the patient and the surgeon have to form a close partnership to understand the procedures and how the patient will recover afterwards. Every plastic surgery procedure requires different techniques during covering. Some of these plastic surgery procedures, may require opposing techniques, positions, compression modalities, etc. Have a long discussion with your plastic surgeon beforehand and ask very specific questions about how you will be sitting, how you will be sleeping, how you will be eating, how you will shower, how you will go to the bathroom and the quantity and frequency of the activity that he or she recommends after the procedure. Best of luck with your wonderful transformation.

Is Abdominal Etching higher risk than traditional liposuction?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
This is a great question that we are often asked. Abdominal etching, or liposculpture is a form of body contouring that uses multiple types of liposuction to not only debulk fat in the abdomen and trunk, but to also remove small amounts of fat superficially along the patient's bony framework, muscle lines and tendon transcriptions. The result can be a very toned and athletic look- or abs that are sculpted.

When done correctly, it is just as safe as liposuction. Remember that lipo is like a paintbrush. It is only an instrument to get a result. Much more important than the instrument, is the person holding it. Make sure that you only work with a plastic surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic surgery and that he/she has a great deal of experience in this specific technique. You deserve nothing less.

Patients that receive ab etching are comfortable after 2-3 days and can go back to work in 3 days wearing a special compression garment.

Skinny but still have stubborn fat and I want ab etching. What procedure should I go for? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Abdominal etching is a really popular subset of liposuction in my practice. This is a form of high definition liposculpture that can be done by carefully etching out small amounts of superficial fat along the patient's anatomic lines. To get a great result, the important things are to 1) only work with a board certified plastic surgeon. This is a delicate form of liposuction and you need someone with the experience and tool set to acoomplish this. 2) Take a look at the doctor's work. Call the office, explain what you are looking for and ask for similar patients.3) Make sure that your doctor is using the right tools. Just like you wouldn't paint a portrait with a paint gun, you need a doctor that offers different types of liposuction to meet all of your needs and take out the fat effectively and cleanly.
When we do abdominal etching, we typically use 3 to 4 different types of liposuction to create the correct thickness of abdominal fat and then to etch around each bony landmark, muscle line, and tendon transcription. You have great skin and are in wonderful shape. Make sure you work with an ABPS board certified plastic surgeon with the correct tools and a lot of experience and you will get a terrific long lasting result. :)

Five Stars is Not Enough!!

I am 3 weeks post op from having a BBL with Dr.Pazmiño. I don’t feel that words can fully describe how pleased I am with my overall experience. I had been going back and forth on whether to do this procedure for 6 years until I came across this doctor. I was concerned due to the risk of fat embolism with having a BBL. I can honestly say that I felt VERY safe going into surgery with Dr.Pazmiño. From the first time we spoke I knew that safety was of the highest priority. I have read some negative reviews about him on this site. Some say that he is arrogant. I did not get this impression at all. With me he was very kind and patient. His staff is also so good! They were very responsive and very friendly. After my procedure I had a nurse (Shanti) care for me for 24 hours. She was probably my favorite of all! She knew what I needed before I said a word. As I am sure you’re wondering, yes I am so pleased with my results so far. I feel that my new shape is very natural and exactly what I was promised! If you choose this doctor you will not be disappointed!
