"I first heard of Dr. E from my sister who had breast augmentation surgery. At the time, my sister was attending New York University, majoring in nursing, and when she decided to do the surgery she did extensive research on different plastic surgeons who perform the procedure. She chose Dr. E because of his impeccable credentials. Little did she know that there was a lot more to Dr. E than that. After her surgery, she and I discussed the possibility of me getting a breast augmentation as well. She expressed how caring and compassionate Dr. E was and so a couple of years later, remembering what my sister told me, I contacted Dr. E for a consultation.
I was very nervous because I had two children and was fearful of any surgical procedures. I discussed my fears with Dr. E and he quickly put my mind at ease. He was very patient with the thousands of questions I had asked. I also found Dr. E to be both encouraging and honest.
As I'm sure many woman do, my first instinct was to have huge breasts. However, his suggestions were both honest and on point and the size that we agreed I should have were, in fact, perfect for my body. Doctor E not only looks at you as his patient, but also as his friend. I was not just a chart number to him, I was a human being with fears that he understood. He was very attentive, caring, and accommodating both pre and post surgery.
13 years later I am still very happy with my breasts, so much so that when my eldest daughter decided she wanted breast augmentation surgery, there was no doubt in my mind who that surgeon was going to be. Years later, Dr. E and his staff were very welcoming and made me feel like an old friend. My sister trusted him with her life, and I trusted him not only with mine, but my daughter's as well. I am also thinking about doing other cosmetic surgery, and I am looking forward to Doctor E guidance and ultimate exquisite, results."

“A Wonderful Life Changing Experience - New York”

"In several conversations, some of my friends whom I knew had breast reduction surgery kept talking about this caring plastic surgeon who has the bed side manner of the doctors from the fifties (who made house visits). I was intrigued and decided to schedule an appointment. The initial consultation was so personable and informative. Dr E took his time to get to know me and to understand the reason that I was seeking the surgery. Looking back, now I realized if Dr. E did not think that I was ready for this type of surgery, he probably would not have taken my case. Dr. E explained the process from insurance approval to the actual surgery and gave me two booklets concerning different types of plastic surgeries and pre-actual and post-surgical procedures. The booklets were very comprehensive.
During every visit, Dr. E took his time to disseminate information and to make sure that I understood. He always allowed time to conduct a “Q & A” session either during the visit or via conference call. When you are a patient of Dr. E you have access to him when you need it. My surgery went smoothly and within two days I was up and about. Dr. E called me daily for several days to see how I was progressing.
For the first time in 20 years I am able to get out of bed on the first try and I am looking forward to all the other activities that I will be able to participate in now. At my first meeting, Dr. E discussed how breast reduction surgery would be a life changing experience. Yesterday, I looked at myself in the mirror and screamed out. Thank you Dr. E!

“I Finally Love my Breasts - New York”

"When I began my search for a plastic surgeon to perform a much needed and desired breast lift, I started by listing the characteristics my selected surgeon should possess and came up with the following: 1) passion for his/her work; 2) integrity; 3) expertise; 4) strong interpersonal skills; 5) a strong and professional support team; and 6) a good heart. I was looking for a doctor who would be a skilled medical expert and an artist. These characteristics would serve as my go, no go standard. Is this too much to ask? Since this is my body and my one life I figured it was not. Fortunately, after two years of consultations with only board certified surgeons from all over New York and New Jersey, I was blessed, lucky, whatever you want to call it to find the doctor who possesses all these characteristics and more.
During that two-year search I found much of what I did not want and very little of what I did want. There was always something not quite right and I would not settle. As many of you who have had your own plastic surgery journey know, the consultation period can be very expensive and may force one to settle even when that inner voice is saying no. I admit I almost settled! I was going to have the procedure done by a surgeon who did not completely satisfy my criteria. I was tired of the “search” and the cost.
Thank Mary, Jesus, Muhammad and Buddha because Idecided to do one more search for doctor reviews before finalizing a surgery date. I came across a review of a Dr. E. located in New York City that made me think, I want what she had. This Dr. E. sounded like exactly what I was looking for and the review was so heartfelt I knew this woman was honest. I jumped on the phone and was comfortable with my initial interaction with Arlene. As you know, that first point of contact has significant influence and can make or break an appointment. Arriving at Dr. E’s office I was relieved that I was not subjected to another “dog and pony show”, by this point I was tired of the hard and inauthentic sales pitch. After all, I know why I’m there, I know what I want and don’t need anyone to convince me, just show me why you are the right doctor for me.
My meeting with Dr. E. was like no other, there was no barrier between us. His support team were warm and professional and not at all solicitous. They did their job and quickly, Dr. E. took over. I really appreciated the efficient and uncomplicated way they conducted business.
As for Dr. E’s “bed-side” manner and follow-up care, I could not ask for more. He and his team are awesome. Someone was there when I woke up and stayed with me until I was fully recovered from the anesthesia. Dr. E. kindly walked me to my escort vehicle and made sure that I was in good hands before I left the surgery suite. He called my recovery help twice a day for the first four days to ensure that I was well and we have his personal cell phone number if we need to reach him."

“Search No More when You Are in His Hands - New York”
"Finding a doctor to perform my plastic surgery needs/desires was an overwhelming task before I walked into Dr. E’s office! His staff was warm and welcoming and made this somewhat anxious experience VERY comfortable.
His knowledge, skills and experience well surpass any doctors I’ve met and the proof can be seen from my results. I had both breast silicon implants and liposuction and I am beyond happy with my results. I had the normal concerns about looking fake or even worse, something going wrong during the operation! During my consultation, I shared my concerns with Dr. Engler and he gave me his recommendations, informed me of risks and walked me through the entire process. Even more astounding, he listened to me and surpassed all my expectations when it came to my results. “I” was in his best interest and he isn’t consumed in the “glamour of plastic surgery” which inherently can have negative consequences.
Dr. Engler is a very gifted surgeon and approaches the profession unlike any other doctor I met His customer care is impeccable from initial consultation to post op follw ups. The manner in which he conducts his business, treats patients and approaches his profession solidifies that he upholds himself to the highest morals, values and standards in the plastic surgery industry. "The office environment was very intimate The receptionist was incredibly warm and respectful. The PA made me feel safe and comfortable from the beginning. When I met Dr. E, I liked him right away. I appreciated his honesty as he explained that liposuction is not a precise procedure. It was good for me to hear that I may have some "waviness" due to the limitations of skin elasticity (especially because my skin had already stretched so much from my first pregnancy) because it allowed me to set realistic expectations. I also enjoyed his sense of humor: When I told him that I wanted to have more kids in the future his response was: "we don't do that here." Dr. E was confident that I would have "fantastic results" and when he told me that the results would be "dramatic" I felt elated. I didn't even hesitate; I immediately scheduled the procedure (I felt bad about the other surgeon but I had to go with my gut on this one). The fact that he had me laughing so hard during my pre-op photos speaks to his ability to put you at ease and make you actually want to take your clothes off (ha!). When I heard another patient who came in after me say "I love him!" as I was scheduling my appointment I felt even more confident in my decision to switch doctors."

I researched a handful of doctors in the area and narrowed it down to the best of the best that I wanted to have consultation with. I knew being face to face would ultimately help me decide. What I didn’t realize was how apparent my choice would be upon entering Dr. Englers office. I immediately felt at home. His staff was very warm and helpful and treated me as a person, not a number or the next business transaction like I felt at other doctor offices. Not once did I feel pressured to make a decision. And any question I could think of was answered with sincerity. Furthermore, Dr. Engler was extremely thorough in my consultation offering advice on size, shape and overall assessment not even knowing if I’d call back to book the surgery.
It wasn’t until the day of surgery that I fully realized what a great decision I made. Prior to surgery, in depth conversations occurred to solidify the choice in implant size and in my case the choice of two different sized implants. Also, a differing incision height from left to right was also deemed necessary to get optimum results.
I felt great relief as I went into surgery knowing that all the possibilities were discussed to get the results I so desired. I’m so thankful that Dr. Engler is as amazing and talented as he is. I could have had quite the botched surgery if I had been in the wrong hands. Upon leaving the office, Dr. Engler checked in every day for the first week to make sure the recovery was going smoothly. And if any additional questions or concerns came up he was gladly at my disposal via his cell at any hour of the day."

"In my case I had no fear in that department. I knew that I was ready to wear button downs, strapless dresses, and be comfortable in a bikini. With that being said Dr. E made all of that happen. "My situation is a little different from most of the other people who are writing in. I went to see Dr. E for a procedure I HAD to have done and didn't choose for myself. I was very frightened and really did not want to do it. But I had to.
From the first minute I called the office, I felt better. The person who answered the phone was friendly and helpful, set up an appointment for me quickly and efficiently, made all the necessary arrangements with the referring doctor and reassured me. When I went to the office, I was greeted warmly. Everyone on the staff was so nice and helped to put me at ease.
Then I met Dr. E - and he was kind, friendly and personable. He explained everything to me and told me that he would take excellent care of me and he certainly did! Most importantly, he made me feel entirely confident in his knowledge and expertise. In a rather vulnerable situation, I so thoroughly felt that I could trust him and benefit from his experience. Throughout the procedure in his office, Dr. E and his staff made sure that I was calm, comfortable and informed of what was going on. Afterwards, he called to make sure that I felt fine, and I did!!

"The nerves quickly subsided, however, when I walked in and was greeted by two staff whose smiles and friendly attitudes instantly made me feel more comfortable. Even the layout of the office, the cozy waiting area with its ‘feels like home atmosphere,’ put me more at ease. During the consultation, Dr. E continued to make me feel relaxed while we discussed my expectations, concerns and desired results. Given the amount of research I have done and the excellent recommendation from a close family friend I knew he was a renowned surgeon in his field, but I did not expect to be equally as impressed by his warmth and good nature.
Dr. E and his team continued to impress me throughout my experience. On the days leading up to the surgery I spoke several times to the staff and Dr. E himself regarding final decisions on size, as they truly wanted to ensure the best outcome would be achieved given my body type and desired results. There were also several times I called to make sure I was following the appropriate pre-op protocol to calm those last minute nerves, and each time they were readily available and extremely patient with me.
The actual surgery went as seamlessly as I could ever have hoped for and I could not be any happier with the results. During the recovery period not only was Dr. E extremely responsive, he also personally called, emailed, and texted me several times a day to check in on my status. If he was going to be unavailable for a certain period of time he let me know in advance. Knowing Dr. E and his team were there if needed at any given moment was invaluable. One month later, I am feeling great and my confidence has sky rocketed. I can honestly say the entire experience surpassed all my expectations."

After compiling a list of surgeons based on websites and comments, I scheduled my first interview with Dr. E. My first meeting with the doctor went smoothly. "I came to Dr. E requesting a breast reduction. First off, his staff could not have been more helpful or supportive in helping with the paperwork to have the procedure covered by insurance (and not all doctor's offices will do this.)
Dr. E himself was professional and warm - he answered all my questions and also worked with my insurance company to make sure that the procedure would be covered. I was nervous about the actual surgery, but Dr. E and his staff were caring and reassuring - it really helped.
The day of the surgery, Dr. E was again professional and reassuring. And, afterwards, he checked up on me multiple times during my recovery via phone and was available for follow-up visits and to answer any any questions.
The results of the surgery are fantastic - proportional, smaller breasts that are healing up nicely. Already I've noticed in improvement in back pain and body aches, as well as just plain looking better.
I'm extremely pleased with my experience and thoroughly recommend Dr. E for any and all plastic surgery procedures. "

"The decision to get a breast augmentation starts with excitement, but
it is a daunting task to choose the best doctor for this life-changing
procedure. I chose to have a consultation with Dr.Engler because he
had a reputation of being one of the best breast augmentation surgeons
in the city. I was welcomed with a friendly staff, and all my
questions were answered during the consultation in which he also
explained to me the various options for surgery. Dr.Engler was spot on
when he helped me to decide the size and the type of implant, and most
importantly, I was informed and comfortable with the decisions for my
surgery every step of the way. He took all my phone calls when I had
any questions or doubts at all, and provided honest and realistic
solutions to my problems.
Dr. Engler called me twice a day for the 3~4 crucial days after the

“Great Service - New York”

"I was referred to Dr. Engler through my physician. I had some excess breast tissue on one side, called axillary breast tissue, that was both unsightly and, during my menstrual cycles, painful. I wanted to have that tissue removed and was extremely nervous about the procedure. When I met Dr. Engler he immediately put me at ease with his warm and friendly demeanor. He explained the procedure in great detail and addressed all of my concerns. The procedure went well and, as promised, I experienced a smooth and easy recovery.
Naturally, I had some concerns during the recovery, including discomfort and the contour of the final result. He never once made me feel as if I was complaining or being overly sensitive. He was kind, gracious, and generous with his time. The result is, in fact, excellent.
His staff is wonderful and always makes me feel welcome. They remember me immediately and ask how I am. It's rare to find such a personable and caring staff. I have and will continue to highly recommend Dr. Engler for his fine work and integrity."

He had an amazing personality and answered every question I had to the fullest extent, and was someone I knew I would feel comfortable having this surgery with. I literally walked into the room with a notepad of questions and he patiently answered all of them and then some! I had brought my boyfriend to each consultation with me as well and he felt the same positive energy from Dr. Engler. They invited me to come in at any time if I ever needed anything or just wanted to come chat with Dr. Engler. I thought that was awesome. From the minute you walk in the door Dr. Engler wants to give you the result you are looking for. He will make sure you are happy and do whatever it takes to get you that desired result. Immediately following the surgery Dr. Engler was able to hold my hand and walk me through my recovery one day at a time. He would call me sometimes 2 or 3 times a day to check in with me and see how my recovery was going. It was so comforting and made the recovery process so much easier. "I wanted to write a recommendation for Dr. Alan Engler as I've been so pleased with the work he has done on me over the years. Most recently, I had lower lid eye surgery. The first time I went to Dr. Engler for a procedure was a number of years ago for liposuction. I'm pretty thin, but I had saddle bags which wouldn't go away no matter how much I exercised. I did quite a bit of research and saw a number of doctors, but none impressed me as much as Dr. Engler and his staff. The moment you enter his office, you feel at ease. Everyone is warm, kind, and caring, and they really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Dr. Engler, who's board certified (this was important to me), took time to explain the procedure and answered as many questions as I could think of. I never felt rushed, and his very personable manner made me feel much less nervous about undergoing the procedure. The surgery went great, my recovery went smoothly, and the results were excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Engler to anyone contemplating cosmetic surgery.
Bottom line, Dr. Engler is an excellent physician and I would not hesitate go back to him again."

I liked what he had to say the most, and got a good vibe from the book. Upon meeting with him, I knew I had to look no further for a doctor. I met him in October 2005, had surgery December 2005. "Fabulous doctor.
I did my research when choosing a surgeon for my breast augmentation...lots and lots of research. I've had plenty of experience with doctors and surgery: impacted wisdom teeth extraction age 18, appendectomy 19, tonsillectomy/removal of adnoids 21, and most recently before my breast augmentation with Dr. Engler, I elected to have a small liposuction procedure at age 22 with a surgeon close to home.
This doctor had decent credentials and fairly good reviews online. I met with him and found him to be an arrogant man with little time for me and my questions. However, I ignored my gut instinct on this surgeon because when looking at my past experience on the operating table, all of my doctors have had this kind of superior attitude. I thought to myself "It doesn't matter what his personality is like as long as he does his job well." WELL, not only did he not do his job well (changed his mind from using general anesthesia to local when I was already in the operating room/ rolled his eyes and sighed impatiently at his staff during my procedure/ sent his nurse in to see me for my appointment the day after my surgery rather than seeing me himself) he has left me, nearly 4 months later, with lumpy scar tissue beneath my skin that I find humiliating. Furthermore, he has been completely unavailable to me when I try to express my concerns and disappointment, and when I finally WAS able to get in to see him, he told me it was in my head and that I look fine.
After this disappointing first experience with plastic surgery, I was extremely hesitant about going ahead with the breast augmentation I've wanted since I was a teenager. I decided to do things right this time around and settle for nothing less than a doctor who is not only an extremely educated, qualified, and experienced surgeon, but who is also someone equally passionate about people and his craft. That is exactly what I found in Dr. Engler. Not only did all of my online research lead me to him (impeccable credentials and endless positive reviews), I found him to be, quite simply, a genuinely nice man.
I felt immediately at ease when I met with him for the first time. I felt like I was talking to a family friend. He and his staff did not pressure me to schedule surgery with him the first time I met him(very different than my other experience visiting plastic surgeons!). He gave me as much time as I needed to ask all of the questions I had, and was very frank about what my options were and what results I could expect. After my second consultation with Dr. Engler, I called his office and scheduled surgery.
The week before my surgery I hovered between being very excited and very anxious. I called Dr. Engler's office frequently with many additional questions, and his staff was always extremely accommodating and sweet, answering all of my questions and putting my mind at ease. The morning of my surgery I was late due to poor guesswork at morning commute time on the LIE, but everyone including Dr. Engler was very nice about it. Dr. Engler told me exactly what was going to happen in the operating room, marked me up for surgery, and even bonded with me over our mutual love of The Beatles (high five!). Before I knew it I was in the operating room, and the nurse and anesthesiologist were very friendly. I was talking to the anesthesiologist about how he grew up in the town next to mine, then ZZZZZZZzzzzz =).
I am finally in good hands with Dr. Engler. For the amazing care he shows his patients and his precision and expertise... he is worth every penny!
Thank you Dr. Engler for doing exactly what a plastic surgeon should do: make every patient feel special, safe, and confidant with their new body!"

"My experience with Dr. E and his staff was nothing short of superb; a welcoming and professional environment. Four years ago, I came to Dr. E to discuss the possibility of rhinoplasty surgery. He had come highly recommended by my trusted dermatologist at the time. As it turned out, I decided against the rhinoplasty but began considering implant surgery instead.
When I was finally ready to take the plunge, I knew Dr. E was the right fit for me. Both he, and his staff were so warm and welcoming during my initial consultation, it was an easy decision to make. During our first consultation on implant surgery, Dr. E was gracious in spending time discussing options that would suit my body: I am 5'0" and 100 lbs, and was worried about the implants being too big for my frame. He took the time to ask many questions about myself and my lifestyle in order to truly understood my unique perspective and areas of concern. In fact, I felt so at ease with him and his abilities, I allowed him to make the decision as to the appropriate size implant once I was on the table.
During our second visit, as he was taking photographs, I mentioned that I had been having lower back pain, and that I had noticed a lipoma (fatty cyst) developing in that region. He took the time to listen to my symptoms, to explore what was going on and to suggest that I see a specialist.
On my third and last visit before surgery, he asked me how my back was doing. He knew that I was struggling and cared about how I was feeling. I told him I suspected the lipoma was at least partially responsible for my back discomfort and that the specialists had suggested it be removed. Remarkably, Dr. E volunteered to remove the lipoma - free of charge - during my implant surgery. Most plastic surgeons would never have taken the time to learn more about a patient's issues unrelated to their specific cosmetic procedure, let alone volunteer their time and effort to resolve it. But that is the type of surgeon - and human being - Dr. E is. I am almost 2 weeks post-op now, and I love my new breasts: they are perfectly suited for my size. And just as satisfying is that since the lipoma was removed, my back pain has subsided. I cannot say enough how much I loved working with Dr. E. His care, expertise and professionalism are beyond compare."

First of all I wanted to thank people who write reviews – if not for you we would be limited to personal experience and recommendations of friends, and when it comes to plastic surgery quite often you don’t even know where to start. I started with extensive research on the subject (lower lid surgery) and reading about people’s experiences really helped to make up my mind. As many online sources are suggesting, I scheduled appointments with top 3 plastic surgeons of my choice: 2 of them we recommended by friends and Dr. Engler I found myself, following the leads of many glorious reviews and impressive body of work. I will omit describing my meetings with 2 other doctors. The only thing I want to say is that please don’t be fooled by pompous Madison avenue offices furnished with antiques – at the end it will only reflects on your bill.
