What You Need in the Time You Need It

I have never been a fan of the doctor (who is?), but I needed my skin checked, and a friend recommended Dr. Dina Strachan. I must say, everything went better than I could ever expect. First off, I was in and out of there in no time (I was on my lunch break). The doctor knew exactly what the problem was at first sight and had me on my way. Beyond that, she had suggested a couple of treatments they offer on the cosmetic side (Aerolase Neo and Cuetera Secret) that I came back to have done. Once again, the same professional experience without wasting my time. I was in and out, and the results have been great. This doctor gets to the heart of the matter, doesn't waste your time, and her suggestions have only been beneficial.

The procedure was very gentle . it didn't hurt at all! The doctor was very comforting before and after the procedure. I was very Happy with the results. People around me noticed a difference after I had the procedure done. I would recommend this procedure to anyone that wanted to look a little younger without going through a major surgery.

VI Peel Did Wonders For My Skin - New York, NY

I went to Dr. Strachan for help with a few dark spots and acne on my face. She suggested I try a Vi Peel. Wow what a difference! After about 7 days, my skin was clear and glowing. I got so many compliments on my skin from my friends and family, I was thrilled. I've always had problem skin, and to see my face so smooth and dewy looking was definitely a first. Dr. Strachan also gave me a daily cleaning regimen for my face with products that help maintain the results of the peel. I get a peel every year, and that's all I need to have beautiful skin all year round. I am so glad Dr. Strachan recommended it. She knows a lot about treatments for darker skin and I trust her to make the right recommendations for me. I highly recommend a Vi peel.

So Happy with Results from Chemical Peels! - New York, NY

I work at Aglow Dermatology and have in many different capacities, and in addition to being a part of a wonderful healthcare and beauty organization, I love working at Aglow for the beauty treatments! I have had many chemical peels, and have tried all of the different types of full face peels; lighter peels, the intermediate or Jessners peel, and the VI Peel. I love the results of the peels, but my favorite is the VI Peel. After just one treatment, there is a noticeable and dramatic difference in the skin's texture, and my facial acne scars are completely gone, and tone is even and clear. I wear no make-up and friends and patients always ask me what I do to my face. I suggest getting a skin regiment that works for you and your skin.

VI Peel on Dark Skin - New York, NY

What a great personal investment. I am a dark skinned blk male in his 20's and this peel delivered as promised. My skin looked and felt extremely smooth after 5 days with no discomfort during the application or time In between the estimated healing process. On cue I began to peel on day 3 and actually embraced it. It did wonders for evening my tone, softening my skin and best of all shrinking my pores. I love the results and am considering a second.

Hair Loss Desperation - New York, NY

Dr. Strahan and her staff are great. They really did more for me then previous dermatologists have done for me. Her office is very knowledgable about my condition. I still left with questions. I felt somewhat rushed during my visit though. If I could offer my opinion it would be to be a little more patient with your clients.

36 Y.o. Professional. Manhattan, NY

Wasn't great. Did not continue going to this office past the 1st 2 visits notwithstanding trustworthy referral and direct evidence of the results of her treatment. I didn't like the way she handled my visit. I went back a second time hoping that I misjudged her or that she was having a bad day, but unfortunately it was the same. She looked at my face from a distance, didn't examine my skin thoroughly, wrote a prescription and left the room. No explanation of what exactly is going on except " you have acne". Unacceptable

Adult Acne - Manhattan, NY

I was beyond dismayed by the blatant disrespect Dr. Dina Strachan displayed when I visited her office on October 30, 2014. Returning for the 2nd time ever, to receive the chemical peel she suggested for my newly diagnosed "adult acne". My initial visit 1 month earlier......the fast talking Strachan tried to convince me that with a few extractions, some ache cream and a chemical peel, my face would be back to new in no time! I did the extraction (out of pocket paid in full), she wrote the prescription for cream and scheduled the peel for 1 month later. Well.....it appears that I had the audacity to exercise my Patient Rights and disobeyed her orders to use the cream she prescribed. Having been informed by her assistant, she entered the room, cold, curt and began to berate me for not taking the cream she had prescribed, and that she does not like it when "people" take it upon themselves to mix "other things" with her treatment. In a daze by her actions, I felt the need to fumble through an explanation of a facial I had received 3 weeks back, and my decision to return to old habit of using natural products, drinking lots of water and being regimented of cleansing 2x daily, use of light scrub and mask. Strachan's response, "WELL, I JUST ASSUMED YOU WASHED YOUR FACE AND BRUSHED YOUR TEETH EVERY DAY!" Stunned and horrified, I hadn't even realized she had completed the treatment until she doffed her gloved hand and said, "that's it!", said a few reminders and exited the room. I gathered my belongings in a daze, said my goodbyes to her very pleasant staff at front desk and left. Walked around the 14th street area in a fog for ~45 min, I decided to return to express to her how I felt about her actions earlier. I was met by a arrogant, condescending and unapologetic snob!

Uncaring and rushed

By far, one of the worst interactions with a doctor I’ve ever experienced in NYC. Not only was she unapologetically late, but uncaring and rushed (not to mention, as rude as they come). I made the “mistake” of asking some skincare questions and one of her multiple condescending responses included, "I'm a dermatologist, not an esthetician." When I briefly addressed my common eczema, she matter-of-factly told me (rather than asking), that she was taking my blood because it could also be lupus. I then asked if the blood work was covered by insurance. Her response was simply to ignore me (can't make this up) while telling me she was writing two topical prescriptions. No mention of the blood work or the importance of said blood work again. When I attempted to ask a question about the prescriptions, she had one foot out the door, said to come back in a month, and left. Mind you, the entire appt including my exam and attempts at engaging re: my health was under 7 minutes. With every remark, she treated me like I wasn't an educated human being, but rather an inconvenience. When I left, I told the front desk (no complaints about them) that I would NEVER return based on how poorly I was treated. Note, I had an appt with her a few years back and it felt similar but I chalked it up to her maybe having a bad day at the time. That was not the case. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. She should be embarrassed of herself. Avoid this office at all costs.
