I had tried so many times to lose weight. My knees hurt whenever I stood up or sat down, I had no energy, I couldn't walk a short distance without being out of breath. My insurance wouldn't pay for bariatric surgery and I was nervous about spending out of pocket. Dr. Pleatman's practice is a blessing. Reasonably priced all inclusive support, professional and efficient, and an awesome staff who care about every patient. Highly recommend. 19 months out, I wear clothes I had in college, I run 5Ks, do yoga. I can play with my grandkids -- and I want to! I have my life back.

I was borderline of hitting the weight requirement to be approved of the surgery. I had two babies and 2 years after my second I gained everything back more. Even though I was borderline, I was miserable. This surgery changed everything and keeps me in check. I feel like a million bucks, when you are having difficulty losing weights for years on end, it doesn’t matter how overweight I was, it matters how I feel now and for my family. I was over-weight my whole life and at 50 years old I had had it. Luckily, I had no health issues. We were going to be self-pay because although we have insurance it would not cover any weight loss surgery. My husband found Dr. Pleatman online. After doing a lot of research, I decided on the VSG. I spent time talking with office support staff who could not have been nicer. They answered all our questions and made me feel very comfortable. One of the ladies in his office was an actual patient of his, which to me, said a lot. They made the whole process easy. My first visit was to meet the staff, doctor and have a lesson on nutrition, side-effects, what to expect and so forth. The next time I saw the doctor was the day of my surgery. Unlike all hospitals in my area, the process was a month long, not a year long. It also cost less than half of what we would have paid in my area. Private, teaching hospital with a terrific surgeon - what else could you ask for? Dr. Pleatman asked me a lot of questions during our meeting and he expects patients to be well-versed and prepared with questions. Do your homework so you understand exactly what to expect pre and post surgery, not just for him, but for yourself. This is a life changing, life altering surgery. Dr. Pleatman is very qualified, and no non-sense. I would do it all again with Dr. Pleatman as my surgeon. My results have been better than anticipated (he expected about a 90 lb weight loss and I lost 122 lbs). He and his staff have been there to address questions and concerns even after 15 months post-surgery. They also have a private support group that you become a member of after surgery where you can talk with other patients, share recipes and Dr. Pleatman holds online support group meetings. If you are considering weight-loss surgery, look no further, Dr. Pleatman is your guy!

Dr Mark Pleatment came very highly recommend and now I see why. The surgery went seemlessly and I questioned a few times whether I had surgery at all. His office staff are also pretty amazing and always helpful.

Dr. Mark Pleatman is wonderful. I drove from Florida to Detroit as a cash paying client. His office staff is great. The surgical center he used is five star. I’ve never had a day of regret or issues. My surgery was 10 months ago and I’ve lost 105 pounds. I’m very happy I chose him and did my research. He was skilled and considerate. I recommend him every chance I get. 

Dr. Pleatman changed my life. I was 263 pounds and had no energy to keep up with my 4 kids, no confidence, and low self esteem. After addressing all my questions and concerns Dr. Pleatman preformed a successful surgery with a very little wait time and I can’t not express how thankful I am. I now feel more like me then I ever have, and I am the mom and wife I’ve always wanted to be. At 143 pounds I feel healthy, happy, and full of energy. I had fallen and suffered severe injuries which incapacitated me leaving me wheelchair bound for a year. At that point I reached my heaviest weight which was 300 pounds. I was at the lowest point in my life ever. I had researched weight loss surgery before, and I knew it was time. I found Dr Mark Pleatman. Made my appointment and knew he was the one. His knowledge was on point and he made it clear the surgery was a tool and would only be successful if I did what I was supposed to do, following the directions and the book completely! I had my surgery and everything went as expected. I had some hard days but knew I’d see results if I stuck to the rules. The easy days were the ones where I’d see weight loss and feeling a sense of achievement. The harder days were ones when I ate whatever I wanted and gained a few pounds. At the end of the day, 6 years later I’m at a place where I’ve kept my weight off and feel great about my body and my weight loss goal, loosing 165#. Dr. Pleatman is amazing at what he does! My surgery went great and recovery was easy. He is the most reasonably priced surgeon when paying out of pocket. I have now lost over 90 pounds and feel better than ever. All of my weight related medical issues are gone!

Dr. Pleatman was very clear, informative, and understanding. Being an out of state patient I thought it all went very smooth and easy. He informed me of pre and post care procedures and has been there for any questions I have had. I really couldn't ask for better physician to do the procedure. The cost was also amazing as it is twice the price when done locally.

I am currently nine months post-op from sleeve surgery. My entire experience has been too notch in every way. Phone calls to learn more about the office and surgery, meeting Dr. Pleatman in person for a consult, and getting all my questions answered in a timely manner. Staff treated me wirh kindness and compassion. I always felt welcome and respected. Updated on 19 Feb 2019: I have had an outstanding experience with Dr. Pleatman and his staff, for my sleeve surgery. I began the process feeling lost and hopeless. My quality of life was quickly diminishing, along with my overall health. Not knowing where to start, I began researching surgeons in Michigan, which led me to Dr. Pleatman. My first phone call to the office, and the information I obtained from talking with his office staff, gave me a glimmer of hope about my future. From there, the positive experiences just flourished. My initial consult went without a hitch, my paperwork and associated processes went smoothly with the help of the office staff, the actual surgery was without complications, and follow-up appointments have been both encouraging and helpful. There is always someone from his office that you can get a hold of, no matter what the circumstance or question. Phone calls are returned in a timely manner, emails answered lightening fast, and Dr. Pleatman even gives you his personal cell phone number, after surgery, for any questions as you recover. The time after surgery can feel scary so that was so reassuring to me (and my husband!) Every visit is full of information and positive connections. I highly recommend Dr. Pleatman, without hesitation!
