I had done months of research and had many consultations before, and time and time again, Dr. Manuel Gutierrez came on top. He is board certified (you can verify searching for board certified surgeons in Mexico) and has many, many years of experience!
I had corresponded via email with his staff and they answered all of my questions quickly, always letting me know I could ask more!
The night before my surgery I started getting anxious and second guessing my decision. However, rather then cancel at the last minute, I opted to show up to the facility and make my decision there.
Wow, am I glad I did! I was very impressed with the Blue Tower as well as how professional everyone was. I will walk you through my day and hopefully you will see that this was an amazing experience!
I drove there with my husband and 2 cousins. I live about 2 hours from the border and once we crossed into Tijuana, it was only bout a 3-4 minute drive to the Blue Tower.
They have their own parking facility and the entrance is coned off. We thought it meant it was closed. However when we called to ask about parking, they told us to pull up to the cones and the security guard would meet us. Sure enough, that’s exactly what happened. We were able to leave my car in a safe and guarded parking space.
Inside was absolutely stunning! The theme is aquatic and the walls and decor are beautiful. There is a cafe and a pharmacy inside as well. The staff at the front desk were fully bilingual. I speak Spanish and English but my husband only speaks English so they courteously explained everything in English for him. Excellent English at that.
They called me in to do lab work and then I was able to join my family again. A few minutes later we were called to the second floor and all of us were able to go up.
I was told my husband (or any one person of my choice) would be able to go up with me to my assigned recovery room but there was a lounge on the second floor for my cousins to wait in. While I was busy doing my EKG test (for those of us over 40) my family went outside to have some burritos (outdoor vendor) and to pick up some snacks at the gas station (across our building, imagine a local AM/PM type gas station with small store).
My husband and I got to meet Dr. Manuel Gutierrez for a consultation prior to the surgery to ensure that I would be getting what I wanted. He measured me and discussed the process, again, all in English so that my husband could understand. He was very thorough and detailed without being rushed.
Eventually I was taken to what would be my recovery room. My husband and I were able to hang out there until I was taken in for surgery. There was a private bathroom and shower, and a couch and tv.
Every single nurse who interacted with us was so professional, bilingual, and friendly! I was surrounded by strangers and yet I felt so safe and cared for. It was an unbelievable experience. They are amazing!!!
Prior to going up to surgery there was some difficulty with the veins in my arms. This happens very often in my life! But the nurses were so gentle and so caring. Not once did I note even a hint of impatience with me.
Then I was taken up for surgery. My husband and cousins went out for lunch at a nearby restaurant (you can pay with cash or card) while I was in surgery.
Surgery went well and I was given some jello, crackers, and juice when I came out. They also provided us with medication, discharge papers, and a sports bra. They also gave us a medical pass so that we could cross the border through a faster line than everyone else. I will come back for a follow up appointment in one week.
This experience was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor or medical team. They know how to treat their patients and the entire time, you will feel safe and cared for!
The US has great doctors too but you have to pay an arm, a leg, and your soul for it! Believe me, I had multiple consultations prior. Here in Tijuana with Dr. Manuel Gutierrez you have excellent services for a fraction of the cost! If you’re uncertain about going for it, here is my motivation: do it!! You will not be disappointed! And bring any doubting friends or family with you… after they step inside the Blue Tower and meet the team, they will be signing themselves up, too!

This is how my recovery is going! They look great! Please also look at my comment below for ccs info translated into bra sizes for me!
So far, a little sore around nipple area. But that’s all. Please note, due to the fact that I initially had enough fat tissue on my breasts, we opted to go with “over the muscle” which is why I believe my recovery has been much better than expected. I stopped pain meds on day 3 and only took them as needed, when they felt “tight or itchy around the nipple area.” Very minimal discomfort.
