Most Fantastic Experience with a Fantastic Doctor!

Dr. Calobrace was literally amazing! As soon as he walked in and dropped the F bomb I knew he was for me! So knowledgeable and confident in his skill. Amazing bedside manner. The staff was so so amazing. I was afraid of the IV and the nurse was perfect and gentle. The office is modern and professional looking and the surgery suit was great. Updated on 28 Oct 2023: These are the before pictures prior to surgery. My sad before pictures. I had lost 80 lbs and my boobs had deflated. I was super self conscious of them. Being newly single before 30 out of a long term relationship I was so nervous to put myself out there again. I feel so much more confident now.

From An Empty/Sagging B Cup To A Perky C Cup

After breastfeeding my children, I was unhappy with how my breasts looked. I had a wonderful experience and am so glad I chose Dr. Calobrace for my breast augmentation. I went from an empty/sagging B cup to a perky C cup, and I love my new breasts! Dr. Calobrace is a skilled surgeon, and he has a wonderful staff of nurses. I felt very taken care of throughout the entire process.

First Experience with Injectables

I am turning 33 in a few weeks, and for probably the past 5 years, I've REALLY wanted filler under my eyes as I have deep eye toughs - deeper than I feel a 20-30 something should have. It's definitely genetics, and looking at pictures of me when I was even younger, they've always been there. As I've aged, they've just become more prominent to the point where I don't even want to wear make up anymore because it all settles there - even with a really good primer. I've also noticed my 11s between my brows getting bad and the beginnings of wrinkles on my forehead. Sometimes I even see the dreaded myriad of wrinkles beside my eyes when I smile. Those don't bother me enough to do something about it though. The bottom line is that I am seeing multiple signs of aging that I would like to slow down. I have a consultation at CaloSpa in Louisville, KY in a couple weeks. I'm hoping they will be able to help me decide what truly needs done to the areas that bother me to bring back some youth to my face. I chose CaloSpa because I had previously been to the surgery side for a consultation and just really loved the whole staff and felt confident in their knowledge. Updated on 18 Aug 2022: Wow I didn’t realize I never posted any updates!! So I am going to post in segments with dates to get caught up. April 5th, 2022 - Day of injections. After consulting with my injector, we did decide that under filler was not for me because I suffer from seasonal allergies that make me puffy. She did recommend PRP though, but I wasn’t ready (financially or for the time commitment of the multiple appointments needed). We decided to let me dip my toes in with Botox. The main focus was between my brows, but I did have a little bit on my forehead I wanted as well. She did a couple units on my upper/outer eye area above my brows to help it all go together better. The pain was very minimal and more of a flinch every time the needle went it bc I wasn’t expecting it. Afterwards, my face felt WEIRD. The injection sights felt kind of numb and by the time I got home, those ares were slightly swollen. Photos shown are two days after injections. Obviously no difference because it will take almost a week for me to see any results at all. Updated on 18 Aug 2022: Obviously it eventually set in as expected, but it wasn’t perfect. One brow moved much more than another, but overall I loved it. My favorite part was when the Botox was its stronger around 3-4 weeks. I guess I just love the frozen super smooth look. Usually even when I wasn’t squinting or furrowing my brow, I had hints of muscle tightness between my brows and right above them. I was always constantly trying to get in a better light/angle to take attention away from that. Obviously I was probably the only one who noticed that, but it felt good to be confident that my whole forehead was smooth. Updated on 18 Aug 2022: I freaked out at around 7 weeks post bc I started to see animation between my brows again where my deepest line was before. I ended up going back in for my injector to see, and she told me it looked good and was normal animation. I just really wanted it to be completely smooth there for longer. She injected 4 more units to help get me back to that, and I ended up having her treat my crows feet (not that I have much) just because with my forehead being so smooth, I felt like I needed more smoothness by my eyes as well. We did very little, but I was happy with it since I hadn’t previously deemed it a problem area. She also put in a couple more units to control my brow movement since one was moving much more than the other. We made a plan for me to come back mid July to redo everything - that would put me at 3.5 months from my initial appointment.

BA surgery day

Just wanted to document the flow of my surgery day and document progress post-op with Dr. Calobrace at CaloAesthetics in Louisville KY. - 2/3/22 Day of surgery check-in went efficient and smooth. I was brought into the room where my nurse (Mary) was wonderful, and hit my vein on the first stick with the IV catheter so I was extremely gracious of that =) The anesthesiologist then came in to introduce herself and offer me a chance to ask her any questions. Next thing I know I was already being brought in to the OR. Dr. Calobrace then came in and talked with me about my goals again (he had both 520cc and 560cc Natrelle SCF on hand and would decide in surgery) He then marked me up and before I knew it surgery was over and I was waking up in the recovery room. (For past surgeries I had when younger I had woken up freezing cold and with a sore throat from where my ET tube was placed) This was not the case here, I was warm and comfortable! I can't say enough good things about how professional and efficient the whole team is here. Jenny was the nurse who recovered me after surgery and she was so sweet, caring, and didn't hesitate to answer any of my questions. Dr. Calobrace ultimately decided on 520 cc (went with Natrelles most cohesive implant in a high profile). I will remove my post-op bandage today (24 hours from surgery) and place on my surgery recovery sports bra. I'll continue to document my journey on here but just wanted to rave about how wonderful Dr. Calobrace has been. He is the best when it comes to educating you on all things BA related in an upfront and honest manner!

Breast Implant Removal W/Total Capsulectomy and Mastopexy W/Auto Augmentation

I had my surgery 19 days ago and could not be happier with the results and the treatment I received from him and his staff. I went to Dr. Calobrace after years of not being happy with the size of my breasts after getting implants and a lift in 2008. And after dealing with a plethora of health issues that I believe were related to Breast Implant Illness. He and his staff were very understanding and so kind. My results are absolutely beautiful. He was able to remove my implant and do an auto augmentation using my own tissue taking me from a DD to a C cup (I was a D cup before getting implants). Not only is the size exactly what I wanted, the stitches were so well done. I know what I looked like after my surgery in 2008 and this time the incisions are so much cleaner and I know the scars will be barely visible. He is truly a master at his craft. I would recommend him to anyone!

Last procedure (for a while anyways)

During my tummy tuck and breast reduction and lift- I was not able to complete all Of my wants in one setting due to Bigemeny. Also thankfully I didn't because it was all Incold handle! Today I went for lipo on my arms back hips and inner thighs and Thermi tight on my arms. I had been rescheduled to this date due to Covid19. I was in surgery for 2 hours. My experience was so great today. Although I haven't the slightest clue what I look like yet I am super happy. Setting things up after Inwas cancelled due to Covid 19 was easy and Mindi and Natalie made sure all of my ducks were in a row and everything went off without a hitch. My nurse Nicole was great. She is so calming and skilled. My anesthesiologist was also great and calming which is helpful to me because of my heart rhythm. Dr. Calobrase was his same usually wonderful self. I cannot recall his head nurses name but she is always wonderful. I give my experience 5 stars for set up and surgery. I knew what to expect good and bad! I believe I was in for two hours. I really don't remember getting home but I know I did thanks to my husband. I am experiencing a lot of bloody drainage. I mean a lot. I had purchased shower curtains and table clothes for my car seat and recliner so I am plenty well covered. I also purchased six rolls of vet wrap and it is holding puppy pads on my arms. This was a great great idea! We put a path of towels from my chair to my bathroom to catch blood because there is a lot of it! I finally urinated around 8:30 PM and that was a relief. My bladder has a hard time after surgery and last time I spent 5 days with a catheter which was fine because I wasn't in pain. After a while though it gets annoying. It is painful but NOTHING compared to the TT. Lord that TT! I require a little help to get out of my chair and my husband has been walking with me for security reasons but I can do it myself on the same day!! I have been drinking a lot and eating crackers and applesauce and I didn't eat much for days with TT. Only on 1 pain medication and antibiotic and it's plenty enough for me. So far so good. I had been walking quite a bit for a couple of months leading up to surgery. They did use extra precautions including a Covid 19 test I had to complete, a special Wash for my nostrils and mouth prior to surgery to clean any bacteria, extra cleaning and time between surgery. Again so far five stars for my experience. I will post results when I can see some! Updated on 17 May 2020: We took my garment off to clean and dry me off a bit from the drainage. I am already so impressed! Updated on 22 May 2020: I went yesterday for a check up and my nurse drained fluid off of one of my arms. I do feel very swollen- but started the massage my nurse suggested. Today one full week out I am up and have picked up around the house. I can’t lift as much as normal- but at least I’m being somewhat productive. Finally slept in my bed last night! What a relief to be out of the chair!

Dr Calobrace did an amazing job

I have had a "pooch" since I hit puberty. I can not remember ever having a lay tummy. I was thin in high school but till had that ft roll below my belly button. As I got older and finer weight-- it got bigger. I had one child (delivered by c/s) 20 years ago in Oct 15, 1999. I hit a high eight of 258 in 2018. I was disgusted with myself. I made the decision to have gastric sleeve surgery and I lost 90 pounds in a year! But I still had that "pooch".... so I did my research and choose Dr Calobrace in Louisville to get a tummy tuck. My surgery was scheduled on Oct 15, 2019. (Exactly 20 years from my son's birth). I am now 4 weeks out and could not be happier! First the first time in my life I don't have a fat roll!!! I look down and can't believe it's gone! Dr Calobrace did amazing job-- he's so friendly and a perfectionist in what he does!!! I never for one second (even at my most painful days) regretted doing it. The pain is real... but not THAT bad... if you use your pain meds -- it is fine. But you definitely need a support person to help you even do basic things like get out of bed for the first few days! My Mom moved in with me for about 6 days and she was my personal nurse (dressing changes, chauffeur to appointments and chef-- can't thank her enough). My advice is to o your research and choose a good surgeon... you won't regret it!!! Updated on 16 Nov 2019: Before and afters! Updated on 16 Nov 2019: Updated on 25 Dec 2019: I still wake up in the morning and think... “is this really my flat tummy?!?!?” I am so happy with my results— I could kiss Dr Calobrace!!some days I come home from work and have a little swelling will but it is less and less. If you are considering it—- do your research, find a reputable Doctor (if in Louisville use Dr Calobrace!), and just do it. Do not let the fear of pain stop you—- (I almost changed my mind the morning of surgery because I was scared.) YOu can see my scar looks fantastic and is hidden under my underwear normally. (And look at my cute little bellybutton!!!) I’m so glad I did this!! Updated on 21 Feb 2020: Oooo so happy with my results. If you need a great Dr and near Louisville KY... then go see Dr Calobrace! You won’t be disappointed!

Mommy Makeover

41 year old mother of 2. 2 C sections. Up 50 lbs from second child. Hashimotos Diagnosis. Breast reduction and lift- tummy tuck with lipo- and a small revision on chin that was performed by another Physician that I was not happy with. I am 24 hours post op at this moment. I took some advice off of this site and hired a caregiver and got a private hotel suite. Our day to day life is very busy and I didn’t want to be in the way. I can say this was an excellent decision and I highly recommend this. I found a caregiver on care.com and she is EXCELLENT. I honestly do not hurt on my breasts or chin, but the tummy is very sore. I made a lot of progress through the night getting up. I head over for my morning after post op. I will post some photos then. Updated on 10 Jul 2019: Updated on 10 Jul 2019: Hardest day yet from pain. Had to have my catheter put back in due to not being able to urinate. Also the numbing in the incisions has wore off. Still no BM. Office was super accommodating in getting the new catheter in and cleaning my dressings today. Updated on 10 Jul 2019: I am still in a great deal of pain. It is super difficult to get out and in of my hotel bed. I am hoping when I get home to my recliner that will help. My nurse has been amazing and she leaves me today. My back is really tense and spasm like. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good ride home and relief when I can get out of this bed. Updated on 11 Jul 2019: It’s day 4 and I am struggling! I’m not sure if it’s the pain of the surgery or the pain of every muscle in my back giving out. I hired a nurse for a hotel for three days thinking I could take pretty good care of myself by today... no way. I have no idea how I would get in and out if this garment alone. I did finally have a bowel movement which was great because the gas pains were so bad. I’m hoping I have some relief in the next few days. This surgery should not be taken lightly. Updated on 12 Jul 2019: Starting to feel a little on the mend. Began doing bladder training today so I can hopefully have catheter removed Monday. I had two huge bowel movements which was very nice. Changing my bandages is becoming easier for my mom and husband. Updated on 12 Jul 2019: Things I wish I would have had... Walker Butt wiping tool Electric recliner My mom and husband have been rockstars but this has just about did me in. Updated on 13 Jul 2019: Slept pretty decent in my recliner last night. The pain medicine knocks me completely out. Got a shower this morning with a lot of help and three hours later back in the chair. Thankful for finally feeling some progress. Updated on 14 Jul 2019: Tomorrow I am going to get my catheter removed. I CAN NOT WAIT! I see everyone wanting their drains gone, I’ll be feeling fabulous once the catheter is removed. Doing a little better each day. Updated on 18 Jul 2019: Went today for follow up and to have belly button stitches removed. We weren’t able to remove my drain because it is still collecting too much fluid. I am 100% ok with that. I prefer to have it until I don’t need it any longer. I am very very pleased with my results thus far. Recovery is going well. I still have one more week off of work. I did drive for a short time yesterday. I am not ready to drive all day yet for sure. Updated on 2 Aug 2019: I am almost 4 weeks post op. Drain is gone, back to work and doing pretty good. I am down twenty pounds and I am thrilled with my results. Dr. Calobrace did a fabulous job. I couldn’t be happier and I am excited to finish a few more things up with him. Updated on 17 Aug 2019: I’m approaching my six week mark. I see my surgeon on Monday. I would have to say I am 100% satisfied. I look and feel so much better. I wasn’t able to have my arms done due to the surgery being so long, so I am going back to have that. What he was able to do with my large belly and boobs is remarkable to me. I am down twenty pounds. I am not going for a bikini to the beach but I am able to wear much cuter suits and feel much more confident. I am thrilled with my reduction and lift. I know I have swelling but I have not had any of the horror stories I have read about. My instructions at each visit were very clear. I never had to search for a faja or binder they had those for me when it was time to wear each one. I highly recommend Dr. Calobrace and his staff.

Tummy tuck: post-op day one

06/11 Post op day one. Pain killers helped but under my boobs around my rib cage was the most sore. Sleeping the the bed with a pregnancy pillow and pillows behind me and one under my knees. I have one drain and was sent home with a catheter. Updated on 5 Jul 2019: So after surgery I was sent home with a catheter. It was removed the next day. After. It being removed i couldn’t pee on my own. I have to self cath for two weeks. Really hard to do when you ant bend at the waist. By my hubby helped me. I can now go on my own but have been taking using flomax as an off label use. I had no idea that could happen but apparently it does happen sometimes with abdominal surgery. But, I can sneeze without extreme pain at this point. My scar looks good and I can sleep on my side. I am also back to work full time. Still have a lot of swelling and can’t fit in my jeans just yet. Updated on 16 Jul 2019: Still super swollen. I start out the day pretty flat but by end of day I am pretty swollen. I swell around the incision and my upper abdomen muscles kind of bulge. I wear my binder under my clothes, but sleep without it or any compression. My belly button is really small. Not sure if I am gunna like it. I’m hoping after the tissue is healed it will be a bit bigger and more natural. Updated on 20 Jul 2019: Still swollen. But, not to bad in the mornings. I’m happy with my before and after so far. My belly button is still a bit small, but I hope that changes as the swelling decreases. Definitely still tender when I bend certain ways and a little stiff if I stand too fast. Updated on 9 Oct 2019: I am very pleased with my progress. I’m not doing 50 sit ups or anything but I can do a few. I have a small dog ear but I will see my surgeon at the end of this month. I still have swelling. I swell more in the evenings. My muscle in my upper abdomen still bulges a bit as well. Overall, I’m feeling pretty happy. Updated on 9 Oct 2020: I had a fat pocket form around my scar line. I went back on Tuesday to have lipo under local anesthesia. It was super easy and painless. I hope for good results.
