Rhinoplasty & chin implant ruined my face & life - I look completely different

October 25th 2021 marks the date of the worst decision I have ever made--getting a rhinoplasty and chin implant. This surgery ruined my face and my life. Being a doc myself, I tried to be nice about what happened, respectful to the doctor, the staff—dumbing down my previous reviews. It’s what you’re taught as a doc—to be respectful of other physicians, not to speak ill of them, even if you disagree with them or their care. I tried to adhere to that, but I’m disgusted about going through with this procedure and disappointed with my care. Currently, I'm completely immobilized by pain (emotional pain) after the surgery [I'm over 7 months post op]. I just recently have been harassed on and off-line about how different my face looks and how much less attractive I am. I just had professional photos and video taken of me and received them for review. I also saw some of my old photos and video juxtaposed with these and I wanted to cry and throw up. I don't look anywhere near as beautiful as I used to, and I look completely different. I thought the change was going to be subtle. And who wants to look older and uglier after surgery? The content that I created with this face--as compared to my old one—as well as people treating me differently after this--is a constant reminder of what I did (going through with this surgery). This surgery ruined my life. Still, I couldn't give less than 4 stars, as I just feel bad doing so--and because saying these things about another doc (especially publicly) just feels so wrong. I feel bad about writing this review, saying any of these things and giving him a less than 5 star review. Also, I can't really give a complete review at this time, because it's very time consuming, and I'm just racked with too much emotion and pain right now, especially after what happened these past couple of weeks. But this deserves a complete review and explanation for my statements and my rating. I will try to complete this later. My apologies for not doing so right now. Updated on 16 Nov 2022: Wanted to update my review bc it didn’t paint the full picture. He is the best plastic surgeon in the world, in my opinion. One of the many, many reasons I hate my nose now is because I injured my nose (literally 5 days after my surgery). I completely ruined my nose after the surgery. Completely. I ruined my breathing afterward bc of the injury. I was so depressed that I manipulated my nose after the injury making it 100 times worse. I’m very sad. I never should have gotten a rhinoplasty in the first place. Imo I didn’t need it. And my surgical nose (I feel) was too small for my features) The only reason I did was bc a secretary at a Dr’s office (Dr Dayannon Michigan Avenue) said I “needed a nose job.” Dr Dayan is a terrible Dr and completely ruined my skin and face. He injected my face with steroid creating all these dents, scarring and thinning of my skin which my smaller nose results in those scars being much more noticeable. But Dr Dayan being ruining my skin/face is a different story. I was planning on going to Dr Thomas for a revision, but he is retired now. There is no one better to go to than him. I’ve been bed ridden and gained 30lbs since my surgery. I’m so depressed and want a revision. Now the best surgeon in the world is retired (he’s also a great ent), and I don’t know who to go to.

Great Experience - The entire surgical team went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable

I am only 3 days post op so I still have a ton of swelling, but the service I have gotten has been amazing. I want to give a shout out to Victoria (his nurse). I had to reschedule my original surgery due to a stomach illness and have been asking her tons of questions since last April. Victoria always responds and puts my mind at ease. Two days ago I got nervous due to some swelling asymmetry in my nostrils, and she quickly responded that all was fine. She also got me rescheduled very quickly after my illness. I am an anxious person so having this type of support has been amazing. Dr Thomas has been amazing as well. I can’t tell what my nose looks like yet, but I know I will love it. He is very kind and you will feel at ease in his care. The entire surgical team went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. Dr Thomas answered all my questions and was always very clear about the healing process. I will update my review after I remove the cast next week. Updated on 17 Aug 2021: I just had the cast removed today and love my results! The team was incredibly nice in answering all my questions (I had a lot). Victoria is amazing and the best nurse I have ever met at any doctors office. The result is incredibly natural and I can’t wait to see how it will continue to look as it heals.

The BEST Doctor and Team. LOVE my New Nose.

Dr. Thomas did my revision rhinoplasty and septoplasty with turbinate reduction and I am SO HAPPY I CHOSE HIM! He is so diligent in his work, my nose is so beautiful and symmetrical. I didn't know it was possible for it to look and function this week! He and his team (Bailey and Erin) are so attentive and sweet. You really feel taken care of from the start. Would recommend to anyone with a challenging revision case.

He Did an Amazing Job Repairing my Nose

I had a basal cell cancer removed from the tip of my nose, which turned out to be much bigger than expected. I looked like I’d been shot in the nose. My dermatologist sent me right over to Dr. Thomas’s office and he scheduled surgery for the next day. Although I was very bruised and had stiches for a week, the outcome was far better than I expected. Friends and family were amazed by the results and my hairdresser said my nose actually looked better than before, because it’s a little turned up, Dr. Thomas was terrific and so was his nurse, who I called twice because I was concerned about whether I was healing right. She had me take a selfie and sent it to her so she could assure me all was well. And they had me come in frequently at first to make sure my recovery was on schedule, which was comforting.

Fantastic experience with Dr. Thomas for septoplasty/rhinoplasty

Dr Thomas practices through the Northwestern Memorial otolaryngology department (used to have a separate practice). I went to him to consult on smoothing out a nasal bump (from an injury) in addition to a septoplasty, to correct the deviated septum (result of the same injury). He was kind, honest, and informed. His clinical nurse, Hailey, is terrific. She was proactive in reaching out to me to make sure I was informed and prepared, and was available to answer questions and was very responsive. I decided to go for it, and had my nasal cast removed today. I am absolutely thrilled (and relieved!) about how things turned out. My breathing is already greatly improved, and as a bonus, I now have a (though still slightly swollen) perfectly natural straight nose. Even swollen, I don’t think anyone would look at me and think I had my nose corrected. I just look genetically blessed with a great nose. I found a few before/afters online, but really in making my decision, I just went with my instinct. With switching to NMH, it was a bit hard to find reviews, but the ones I found were great and a I’d recommend a quick Amazon search to bring up loads of books written or consulted on by Dr. Thomas. The surgery was incredibly smooth - I felt terrific coming out of it (if a little drunkenly funny), and recovery this past week was very smooth. The NMH surgical and anesthetist staff were all professional, kind, and added to my comfort and confidence every step of the way. Dr. Thomas kept me updated on the process and his upbeat humor/attitude were so welcome and terrific.

I could not find one until I found dr Thomas hes the best at what he does and a great person he changed my life...
