38 Y/o Mommy Makeover, Worth It!

(long post alert) Surgery done: I had a full mommy makeover, tummy tuck with muscle repair, hernia repair, breast lift and implants. Consultation: From the moment I sat down with Dr. Wallace, I knew within the first 5 minutes he would be my surgeon. Being a post-surgical nurse, I had my questions lined up, but he answered everything down my checklist without me even having to ask. He anticipated what was pertinent and important, and he spent an hour and half with me. I never felt rushed, I felt like my concerns were important, and trust me I’ve met my fair share of surgeons. He listened to every single concern, answered every question. All the staff in the office are genuine and truly care about you. They treat you like family. Surgery Day: When it came to day of surgery, one of my biggest concerns was post operative nausea and vomiting. The anesthesia protocol used was phenomenal, the process kept me comfortable and I didn’t experience nausea at all until car rides later on. Pain was not an issue for me. Abdominal pain was way less for me than my breasts. My history; I’m a mother of 2, I’ve had a gastric sleeve in the past and lost 95 lbs, and I’ve had a c-section. I have always had excess skin, and I’ve wanted this for over 12 years. Post op: recovering was nothing compared to what I thought and read online. Granted everyone is different, but I slept in my bed with a wedge behind me, keeping me at probably 45 degrees, and a wedge pillow for my legs, so I slept in beach chair position, pillows propped under my arms. I did have a complication where my drains got clogged and the fluid had to find it’s way out opening my abdomen incision a little. I lost quite a bit of blood during my surgery, but I lost even more at home in bed when my incision opened. This led to a hospital stay for a couple days, BUT I was stitched up, received blood, drains were patent again, and Dr. Wallace came to see me, and stayed in touch with me the entire time. Not only him, but his office staff kept in touch as well! As scary as this experience was, they were with me the whole way. Progress: I will post photos and updates. I do have swelling more so on my left abdomen than my right. My left breast still has nagging pain, massage helps. Im now 8 weeks out, so I’m gathering my photos to get updated photos up. Healing takes time. Eating right and exercise will make it even better. I did have a setback so I’m trying to be patient with myself!! If you’re considering Dr. Wallace, you will not regret it! His bedside manner is confident yet humble, he’s got a great sense of humor, and he cares about how you feel. Set up your consult! Updated on 3 Aug 2021: I also wanted to mention that Dr Wallace provides secondary insurance that’s covered by him. Most places don’t offer this. So if there is anything that happens unexpectedly, you have coverage to help with what could be billed as your responsibility. I’m still a little lopsided fluid wise but I am using a vibrating platform I stand on, and as I get more comfortable with working out again, I’m going to run sprints and see about dropping some fat. I’ll also discuss possible future revision with additional lipo to achieve the look I was going for. I’m grateful I’m not where I was, but I’m not quite where I want to be. I have a 3 month post op soon, and will plan to update this review again soon with changes!

So glad I did this for myself

I work out 5-6 days a weeks and I just couldn’t get my tummy to respond like my arms and legs do. So I’ve said for a long time I’ve wanted to do a tummy tuck. My daughter just recently left for college and I have no other children so now was the time for me to do something for me. I had my consultation at the end of Sept and was very impressed with Dr Wallace not to mention I have several friends who have had him do their procedures and nothing but excellent results. So I scheduled my surgery for Oct 14th. I never was nervous about the procedure just the getting up and down afterwards. I have to say it’s been a lot easier than I thought it would be the day of surgery there was little to discomfort. My worse day was Day 2 but at night. Today is Day 3 and my husband has went back to work and I’m home alone and all I can say is it’s good I never skipped leg day. I use all legs to lift up out of my car. I also had my 13yr old silicone implants swapped out to HP silicone and went from 500cc’s to 560cc’s to help increase upper volume. I’m obviously very swollen all over but the day after surgery was my post op visit and I do have a picture from that day and can add more pictures later as I heal more. I am so glad I did this for myself and I can’t wait to see my final results. Updated on 21 Oct 2019: Today was 1 week Post op and I got my drains out. I was dreading that because I was worried it would hurt. It didn’t at all! Whew I’m very happy with my results so far even though I’m still very swollen. My implants don’t look much different than they did I went from 500cc silicone mentor moderate To 560cc silicone mentor high profile. I wasn’t going for a crazy change just more volume up top and that was a success. I would highly recommend Dr Wallace to anyone interested in a mommy makeover. He and his office staff are amazing. Updated on 3 Dec 2019: I am 7 weeks PO as of yesterday 12/2. All is healing well, my breast’s haven’t been an issue at all. Almost like nothing was done to them but I believe that’s due to this just being a silicone replacement and not a new surgery. They are definitely higher and more full than before so that makes me happy! My tummy incision has been healing great but seems to itch a lot now but that’s just from healing. My hips seem really wide to me now unlike right after procedure I think because I was swollen all over then and now a lot of that has subsided. I addressed that concern with my Dr and he said it’s because my waist is so much smaller now and that I can see my hip bones more. I also asked about my belly button looking off centered and he explains that very little percentage of people’s bb is exactly in the middle of their tummy and it’s in the same place as presurgery because all they can do is cut a new hole and pull thru your bb from the position it was in before. My last concern is I feel like I am getting rolls back on my belly but it may also just be from swelling. I was released at 1 week for light cardio (no weights) and full activity at 4 weeks and have been slowly getting back into the gym and I’m sure that is causing some additional swelling as well. My 3 month follow up is in mid January and hopefully I will be able to see more of a change in the right direction then. Updated on 10 Jan 2020: My tummy scar looks really good, my belly button is still flat but if I stretch my arm above my head I can see the hole and I can put my finger in it. Doc said once my belly button looks normal my healing is complete. I started working out normal again a couple of weeks ago adding abs, squats, and deadlifts back into my routine. I use to live pushups and burpees, I can do them now but pushups are a little uncomfortable because of the chest muscles aren’t as strong as they were pre-surgery. Updated on 23 Jan 2020: I am 15 weeks PO this week and my surgeon included 2 skin pen(micro-needling) treatments w my surgery so I went in to have one done today. It basically puts tiny holes in the skin and your body produces collagen and elastin to heal the wound. Ultimately making your scar fade faster. Here are my pictures. I have another one I can do later, but I will wait to see if my “dog ears” have to be removed and if so that way I can go over those new areas. It didn’t hurt at all, I thought it might since my scar is only 15 weeks old but you still dont have much feeing in the area so it was completely painless. Updated on 14 Apr 2020: I am 6 mo Post op, my 6 mo check up had to be rescheduled for next month because of Covid-19. I feel like after I did the skin pen on my incision it got darker, it may just look like it because of the sunscreen I use on my incision and of course having tan lines(which I normally don’t have bc of tanning bed but I had to protect my scar). I’m still not happy that my belly button looks flat, I can feel the actual opening it just hasn’t dropped enough to see. The swelling still happens daily, especially after I workout or eat a bigger meal. I’ve also noticed certain things I eat just makes me so bloated it hurts. I am still working out everyday but my eating has kind of went to crap during the quarantine so I’m hoping I can get that under control soon. I am thinking I need to have a little revision on my right hip due to my incision ending sooner on that side and it gave me a little dog ear. I also think I may need some lipo on my hips to help because I have more fat there and it really sticks out. Updated on 13 May 2020: I went in for my 6mo PO on 5/7 and decided to schedule lipo to help contour my hips more. I noticed my hips just looked weird to me soon after my TT. I spoke w my PS about it at almost every appt. He said to give it 6 months to make sure healing was complete. Still being unhappy I have scheduled lipo for July. He also said my belly button is how it will remain which I’m not a fan of because it looks flat but when I lay flat it opens up and looked weird but that I can live with. Updated on 17 Jul 2020: I finally had the lipo done to help contour my hips that was I was dissatisfied with and also did lipo of the chin. The surgery recovery has been easy. Of course I’m sore and tender but wearing the chin strap has been the worst. Looking forward to seeing the final results Updated on 17 Jul 2020: I finally had the lipo done to help contour my hips that was I was dissatisfied with and also did lipo of the chin. I know I am still swollen some but I’m liking what I see so far! I’m still hoping they go down But if not I am satisfied and will do side leg lifts LOL

11yo implant removal and lift- best decision!

Best decision ever! I had large 650cc saline implants removed after twelve years and decided to go natural with a lift instead of replacing them due to some neck injuries that I sustained and subsequent pain. I interviewed a few surgeons and chose Dr. Wallace based on the incredible bedside manner and the CosmetAssure that he provides to his patients. He did a traditional anchor lift and removal yesterday and my breasts already look great. I went from a 36DDD to a 36 B or C. I still need to get fitted in a few weeks. Still very sore one day post op but super excited! Updated on 28 Feb 2019: Today is three days post op. I have some swelling under my arms and bruising. I also decided not to take the narcotic pain medicine and only use ibuprofen but that resulted in my underarms hurting even worse so I scheduled an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow just to make sure everything is progressing the way it should. They have been so great and I can email them videos and pictures back and forth and they are so fast to respond. The recovery is more intense then I thought it was going to be. Updated on 28 Feb 2019: I can’t edit the 3 day update to include a picture so I have to do a whole nother post of 200 words! Sorry! My underarm/side boob is swollen and feels bigger than the actual boob I have left. I am very happy with how perky they look so far and can’t wait to get an update tomorrow. Updated on 1 Mar 2019: Had a check up and got my Steri Strips off today! The scars are scary but not as thick as a lot of them I have seen. My nipples are paler and shaped funny but after seeing tons of reviews here I know it’s part of the healing process and totally accept it. I trust my surgeon for sure. Updated on 3 Mar 2019: 6 days post op and I have some new bruising but it’s already yellow so I’m not too concerned with it. Def swollen under my arms still but I can tell they are getting a more teardrop shape and I have some cleavage popping up. Still very sore, tight, and feeling run down if I do too much. Anesthesia and I never get along. Updated on 12 Mar 2019: Feeling much better two weeks out. The scars are not nearly as scary but still have some pain, as to be expected. I have some oozing still is one breast and it’s a little more swollen than the other but recovery is going well. I’m still wearing the button up sports bra and probably will for another two weeks or so even though I’ve been given the go ahead to get sized. I can’t wait to sleep on my side again! Updated on 17 Mar 2019: Still loving my new tiny boobs! Haven’t been officially fitted but I did some home measurements and I look like I’ll be a b cup which I am absolutely fine with! They are still a little square and I suspect it will take a while to round out since there isn’t much weight to them. I did have some fluid leaking so the doctor drained both breasts in office but there was only a teaspoon of fluid in one and a 1/2 tsp in the other. Feeling much, much better! Updated on 17 Mar 2019: Here is my three week post op photo. Looking better each day and scars are healing so very well. I can’t wait to get fitted and wear real, pretty bras again. My phone won’t let me add a photo, again, to my previous update so I have to make a whole nother 200 word post to add my picture. Sorry for the redundancy. Updated on 26 Mar 2019: Loving the way they are shaping up at one month! The vertical and aerolar scars are thin and perfect. The right nipple I still think will need a slight revision but they are so much better and more comfortable than they were before. Updated on 17 Apr 2019: Had a little bit of a set back but am finally looking better. About five weeks post op my breast starting throbbing, swelling, and turning red. I was able to speak with my PS and he called in some antibiotics. A few days later it got even worse so after sending some pictures he wanted to meet right away and look me over. It was 5:00 on a Saturday afternoon and by 7:00 that evening we were together in his office. It made me feel so so so good that he took the time to make sure I was ok and calm my fears. It appears to have been an inflammatory response to the dissolvable stitches that didn’t fully dissolve. He reopened part of the incision, dug out the stitch, and taped me all up. He emailed me the next day to check on me and saw me again two days later to check progress. I was astounded at the customer service and will forever be thankful! Everything is back to normal and the wound is almost completely closed. My breasts still look great and I would go back and do this with my PS again without hesitation.

The “Girls”

Just a little background about myself. I’m 40 yrs old, 5’4, 143lbs and I have 4 children. My current bra size is a 34G. After I started having kids, it’s seems like my breast wouldn’t stop growing. I’ve always wanted a BR but was afraid to do it. Now I’m having excruciating back pain to where I can’t stand up for a long period of time. I have migraines, bad posture, a hump on my back, neck pain, rashes underneath my boobs, and I have a hard time breathing while laying on my back. I can’t deal with this any longer so it was a MUST to have this BR done. I’m so excited for my surgery next month, it can’t get here fast enough! Updated on 2 Feb 2019: Went to have my surgery yesterday and ended up canceling because my blood level was to low and if I had went through with the surgery it came with lots of risks such as blood clots, slow wound healing, stokes, etc..I’d rather be safe than sorry. So in the mean time I have to take iron pills to get my levels up and I’ll have an update on my new surgery date on Monday.

Dr. Wallace is AMAZING!!!!

Dr. Wallace is the best!! My first breast augmentation was completely botched by another doctor. Then she said there was nothing she could do and made me feel awful. It was almost 2 years before I had the nerve to see another doctor. Thank goodness it was Dr. Wallace. After talking to him, I felt very confident he could correct my problem. He performed the surgery and I couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend Dr Wallace and his staff!!! Teresa T.

Exceptional Surgeon

I met Dr. Wallace 4 years ago when I worked at Baptist ER. Dr. Wallace volunteered his time in the ER to stitch up faces that usually resulted in a “hold my beer and watch this moment”. He did not have to come in. We once called him during a jaguars game. He was there with his wife. He left to come in for a complete stranger. He would explain procedures to the nurses and always did everything he could to minimize pain. I knew when the time came for me to get put back together dr. Wallace was my doc. Fast forward 4 years later. I am currently 6 days post op from a breast lift and breast augmentation. My surgery was flawless. My breasts look incredible. If I could post pictures I would. They look that great. My husband was so worried my nipples would look crazy one pointing up and the other pointing down ( husbands). I was worried my cleavage would be too close. Let me tell you my nipples look incredible! Like perfect. My breasts are perfectly spaced and the shape is so perfect. I can not say enough how excited I am. I love being a mom, but that doesn’t mean I have to have a mom-body. Dr. Wallace bedside manner isn’t like other doctors. He takes more then enough time to explain everything. He makes sure you are 110% confident and happy in your decision. He talked to my husband and put his mind at ease about everything. I can’t say enough good things about dr. Wallace. If you chose another surgeon, you have made a serious mistake. Dr. Wallace is a gifted surgeon.

Breast Augmentation

Best Experience from Start to Finish!

I was very hesitant to undergo surgery, but knew a breast augmentation was something I really wanted to do for a long time, especially after kids. Working in the medical field I asked around about other doctors and staff recommendations and Dr. Wallace's name came up quite a bit, to the point where I scheduled a consulation. Each visit was never rushed and they made me feel like I was the only patient each time. From the first meeting with him to follow up, and now in the healing stage after surgery, I would highly reccomend him and his staff at Fleming Island Platic Surgery. My results are amazing and I feel so happy that I chose him. Wonderful, knowledgable, and very talented doctor. If I ever have a choice to have him as my surgeon, I will, and I will also tell others they should too.

Best Anesthesia and Attention to Detail

Dr. Wallace and his team at Fleming Island Plastic Surgery (FIPS) are superb! I would confidently recommend him to my family and friends. The entire team is caring and friendly. Dr. Wallace is patient with you and very helpful when trying to make a decision. I especially liked how involved he is with the anesthesia team. As an anesthesia provider myself, I can tell you that the anesthetic his patients receive is the best of the best. I felt great for two days after my surgery! This is a great example of his attention to detail. He truly wants you to be very happy with your results.
