Patient Surprised by Staff and Results - Newport Beach, CA

From the very first meeting at my consultation, to the most recent follow up appointment, Dr. Elam has been caring and professional. He listened to what I had to say about my needs and wants. He gave honest responses to all of my questions/concerns, and took my opinions into consideration. I never thought I would feel this comfortable with a plastic surgeon, but Dr. Elam knows what he is talking about, and his work is proof of the words that he speaks. I never felt rushed during my visits, and he was always present during our visits. He is extremely detail oriented and takes great pride in his work. His bedside manner is kind, and his work is precise. If my mother trusted him to operate on me, then that speaks volumes about his character. I will never consider going to another practitioner, because I trust Dr. Elam, not just as a surgeon, but I trust his preciseness, his judgment, his quality of work, and his genuine consideration for me as human being and not just a customer purchasing his services.

421cc, 32D and HAPPY!!! - Newport Beach, CA

I was referred to Dr. Elam by a friend who had a Revision Breast Aug from Dr. Elam and had GREAT results. Her primary Aug was a botch job and she is now as symmetrical as it gets and got everything she asked for in the revision. So I knew if he could fix a botched job, he would master a primary. Dr. Elam gives free consultations and every member of his staff is so professional and makes you feel at home (not to mention they are all GORGEOUS). During my consult we went over implant type, size, and surgical intervention location. I went with Allergan silicon gel (421cc) and Dr. Elam went under the muscle with inframammary incisions. Jody, the patient coordinator is EXTREMELY THOROUGH, and makes sure all questions are answered and assists in Dr. Elam's pre-op plan. I work in multiple Operating Rooms in Orange County and see many surgeons every day. With that said, Dr. Elam is very detailed and I am positive gives the best Pre and Post Op care of any surgeon I know. Dr. Elam sends his patients home with a care kit full of Pre-Op instructions, meds, do's and don'ts as well as adding a special touch of things one would need post surgery (mints, Kleenex, baby powder, scarf, body wipes, etc...). In addition to Dr. Elam's precise skill, he has a surgery center with TWO Operating Rooms IN HIS OFFICE!!! This is a MAJOR PLUS!!! Again, I work multiple operating rooms in Orange County and being able to avoid high traffic surgery centers is such a bonus and less risk of infection. Dr. Elam's team including Dr. Schwab (anesthesiologist), scrub tech and nurses are all on the same page and perform at least 2 procedures each day. All the attention is on you and you know exactly what you are getting when you walk in the door the day of your procedure. Surgery can be scary and Dr. Schwab is the kindest Anesthesiologist around. He called me the night before to ease my nerves and make sure to answer any of my questions and I went to bed with peace of mind and minimum anxiety. The morning of is a breeze as you simply walk in the office like any other appointment and they send you directly back for your procedure. Dr. Schwab makes you feel so comfortable and before you know it you are awake in the privacy of your own room in a comfy warm bed. Carrie is such a sweet nurse and keeps you comfortable from the moment you wake up until she assists you to your car. The OR is very private and so simple compared to checking in and out of a major surgery setting- Think "celebrity status" here. I have many friends who got their breast aug and were sent home and never saw their surgeon again. Dr. Elam calls you 2 times the night after your surgery and checks on you until he sees you which is usually the next business day post surgery. He then sets thorough check ups until you are fully healed to monitor every step of the process to rule out infection, capsular contracture and scarring. Dr. Elam is on the conservative side and will give you his honest opinion. I have since been back for botox, juvederm, radiesse and could not be happier with the job he did on my cheek filler and lips. Again he is conservative and will not make you look like a plastic Barbie even if you demand it, he is not afraid to tell you no and I respect that as it shows he is looking out for the art of beauty not the money in his pocket. I had such a great experience I feel like the office staff is part of my family and I even stop by when I'm close just to say "hi" from time to time. PS- They have a aesthetician come in monthly for Facials that include dermaplaning!

24 Year Old Rhinoplasty!!! - Newport Beach, CA

I had a consultation with two other doctors prior to choosing Dr. Elam. I decided to choose him because he was such a kind Doctor he was very sweet and listened to all of my concerns unlike another Doctor I visited was so in a rush with my appointment. Driving an hour and a half was totally worth it!! No one has noticed I had a nose job because it looks so natural. I have recommended Dr. Elam to a friend and will recommend him to anyone. Before making a final decision please visit him I promise you won't regret it. Their staff is really friendly as well!!

Fat Transfer in Cosmetic Surgery

Although the popularity of fat transplantation is a relatively recent development in plastic surgery, the concept of fat transfer is not new. As early as 1893, free fat auto grafts were used to fill a soft tissue defect. The use of autogenous abdominal fat to correct deficits in the malar area and chin was reported in 1909. Throughout the early part of the 20th century, attempts were made to correct other conditions, including hemi-facial atrophy and breast defects, but modern fat grafting...

Chin Implant or Chin Augmentation

The chin has a prominent role in establishing facial symmetry and aesthetics. With the nose, it can determine facial balance, especially through its relationship to the face in profile. Surgeons have recognized this for many years, and combination procedures involving rhinoplasty and genioplasty or chin augmentation are common. The chin defines the character of the face and, perhaps, the person; a long chin has been associated with strength and power, whereas a short chin portrays weakness...
