Should I Try to Lose More Weight Before SmartLipo?

I am 22, 5'3 and weigh around 150-155. I have lost 10 lbs over the past few months through diet and my recently found love of biking. I have worked with several trainers and even worked at a gym for several months, and was still unable to lose the weight on my stomach. I get disheartened by it and sort of give up, and it is a vicious cycle. Should I continue my weight loss until I hit that plateau, and will I have better results from SmartLipo if I lose as much as I can before the procedure?

A: Weight Loss Before Liposuction?

Thank you for the question and congratulations on your weight loss. It will be in your best interests to achieve a long-term stable weight prior to proceeding with liposuction surgery.

“Ideal” liposuction patient candidates present with isolated diet and exercise resistant adipose tissue collection,  with overlying skin that demonstrates adequate elasticity ( to “bounce back” after the adipose tissue has been removed).

In-person consultation with a well experienced board certified plastic surgeon may be helpful.

Best wishes.

How Do You Know if Skin is Elastic Enough for Smart Lipo?

Hi, I am24 and I am5'5",125lbs.I have been training intensely as an aerial acrobat for 2 years and my body has changed for the better but I still have my mother's dreaded saddlebags and a few other spots that just don't fit me. It's distracting me from my daily life and I hold myself back professionally. BUT, I'm afraid that my skin is not so elastic and that I would end up like a saggy elephant. I am squishy. I do not have a huge weight loss or anything but I'm afraid the doctor won't tell me the truth. Help!!!

A: Liposuction Candidate?

Thank you for the question.

Examination by a well experienced board-certified plastic surgeon will be helpful in determining the quality of your skin elasticity. Finding an honest reputable plastic surgeon in your area will require some due diligence on your part.

Best wishes.

Smart Lipo Doctor Recommendations in South Florida

Hi I am 27 year old female i work out alot but i have some stubborn areas in my saddle bags and lower abdominal... i am considering smart lipo and I want to know if anyone has a suggestion of what dr to go to in the miami - boca raton area

A: Finding A Surgeon?

Thank you for the question.

I  am  sure there are many well-qualified plastic surgeons in your area. I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery  to obtain a list of well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons.

Then, I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices  concentrate on aesthetic surgery. Ask  to see lots of examples of their work and preferably speak/see patients who have had similar procedures done.

You will find,  while doing your due diligence,  that there are many different “specialties” who will offer their services to you;  again, I strongly recommend you concentrate on surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The surgeons will generally be well-versed in a  variety of procedures that may be indicated based on your examination and goals.

I hope this helps.
