Fillers and Other Injectables
In my 38 years of practicing medicine, I’ve administered innumerable dermal filler, Botox,, and other cosmetic injections to patients at my San Diego medical spa. I have been a consultant and advisor to many of the pharmaceutical companies that develop these products and have even helped secure the FDA approval of several new dermal fillers. My extensive experience has made me a trusted provider of injectable treatments, which require precision and expertise to create a natural-looking result. I believe in a conservative approach to cosmetic fillers and neuromodulators to best enhance my patients’ natural beauty while helping to restore volume and smooth the look of wrinkles. My staff and I offer a wide variety of dermal fillers at my San Diego practice to ensure that we can help every patient reach their aesthetic goals.
Skin Rejuvenation and Resurfacing
Lasers are one of the most effective forms of skin rejuvenation to date, and I’m honored to say that I have pioneered some of the leading laser skin resurfacing treatments in dermatology. Because my staff and I pride ourselves on staying on the cutting edge of technology, we offer a broad range of laser skin rejuvenation treatments at my practice in San Diego. Some of these facial skin resurfacing procedures stimulate collagen production to treat skin laxity and smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Others can powerfully exfoliate, to improve skin texture and correct the appearance of hyperpigmentation. One of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments at my San Diego medical spa is Take10, a combination of laser skin resurfacing, dermal fillers, and neuromodulator therapies that takes more than 10 years off your appearance in just one session. Each treatment is customized to the patient, to create a result tailored to their unique needs.
Vein Treatments
While visible veins generally aren’t a sign of a serious medical issue, they can still be extremely frustrating from a cosmetic perspective, whether they’re on the face (typically indicative of aging, excessive sun exposure, or rosacea) or the legs, chest, hands, or feet (such as spider veins and varicose veins). If you have veins that you find unsightly, come in for a vein treatment consultation at my San Diego practice. I have pioneered many vein treatments and am even called “the godfather of sclerotherapy,” owing to my expertise in this category. To address moderate vein concerns, we typically opt for laser vein treatments like pulsed dye laser therapy, which is an ideal choice to tackle broken capillaries and similar issues. I also offer more significant vein treatments, like sclerotherapy, a series of targeted injections to dissolve varicose veins over time, and phlebectomy, precise removal of large varicose veins.

Dr. Mitchel Goldman is a world-renowned, board-certified dermatologist who has pioneered countless innovations in dermatology. A former president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Dr. Goldman is currently the director of the organization’s fellowship program. Known for his expertise across the full spectrum of dermatological procedures, Dr. Goldman specializes in vein treatments, injectables, and laser skin resurfacing.
In addition to being the founder and medical director of his San Diego medical spa, Cosmetic Laser Dermatology, Dr. Goldman is the medical director of West Dermatology, a prestigious network of dermatology offices throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona.
Dr. Goldman has been ranked as number 1 on Newsweek's list of America's Best Cosmetic Dermatologists for both 2022 and 2023.
Dr. Goldman is the inventor of many laser procedures that have transformed the way physicians treat their patients, including Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and the Q-switched alexandrite laser. He has also helped secure approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for several dermal fillers, including Qwo cellulite treatment, Voluma for the chin, and RHA for cheeks. Dr. Goldman’s research, beginning in 1989, also led to the FDA approval of many lasers, fillers, and neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin.
His dedication to research has made Dr. Goldman an invaluable resource to the medical community. He has authored more than 350 publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and 14 medical textbooks on such subjects as aesthetic surgery, dermatology, cellulite, sclerotherapy, and ambulatory phlebectomy, many of which are seen as the authoritative texts on their respective topics.
Dr. Goldman graduated summa cum laude from Boston University before earning his medical degree from Stanford University. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of California, San Diego and his residency in dermatology at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Board certified by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Goldman has received many accolades over his 38 years of practice, including a Presidential Award for his contributions to research and teaching from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Goldman is a volunteer clinical professor at the University of California, San Diego and an honorary professor of dermatology at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
He is also the founder and president of the American College of Phlebology (vein treatment) and a member of over 30 professional organizations.
When he’s not practicing medicine, you can find Dr. Goldman lecturing both nationally and abroad on innovative aesthetic techniques. He is also an associate editor of several respected medical journals, including Dermatologic Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology.
Dr. Goldman is an avid cycler and also likes to hike, ski, and scuba dive. He lives in Cardiff, California, with his wife, Laura, and is a proud father and doting grandfather.
