"Meaningful Beauty" lacks true meaning

Cindy Crawford has associated her beauty, name, and reputation to the “Meaningful Beauty” anti-aging skin care product line. Since Crawford is a natural beauty (who absolutely denies ever getting Botox injections) we have to wonder: does Meaningful Beauty have true meaning?

Meaningful Beauty is based on a formulation developed by French skin care expert, Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh. What is the secret ingredient unearthed by Dr. Sebagh? Rare French melon. Sebagh believes some melons can defend our skin from the breakdown of collagen, which happens with age. Meaningful Beauty describes this ingredient as

“a rare French melon that stayed fresh and firm much longer than similar varieties. This melon contained a powerful “first generation” antioxidant (superoxide dismutase), which preliminary studies suggest, prevents the formation of new free radical species. By utilizing this first generation antioxidant, Meaningful Beauty's formulas are designed to help protect your skin against the visible signs of aging in a remarkable way.”

But this is skin care, not science fiction

So why is the key Meaningful Beautiful ingredient referred to as a “rare French melon?” What is the name of the melon? Google the phrases “rare French melon” and “French melon” and the results offer limited help.  I found out that the French name for a cantaloupe is a “Charentais” melon, which is especially prized in France for its rich, honey finish. No word on its potent antioxidants, but the Meaningful Beauty website gives this answer on their FAQ’s page:

What kind of melon does Meaningful Beauty's patented melon extract come from? The patented melon extract in Meaningful Beauty’s revolutionary treatment products is taken from a rare form of "cantaloupe charentais", which is grown only in the south of France.

Sounds like a gimmick, with a very beautiful woman attached to lure consumers. Who wouldn’t want to look like Cindy Crawford? But if we all think twice, it’s going to take a lot more than fruit to mimic the skin tone of one of the world’s most celebrated supermodels. I'd rather find my meaning in skin care products with more research to back up their claims.

Where can you buy Meaningful Beauty?

Meaningful Beauty is marketed by TV marketing pros Guthy Renker (home of Proactiv and Youthful Essence) as the “Complete Age Maintenance System." The line consists of a cleanser, moisturizer, night fluid, eye crème, masque and neck crème. I've been using meaningful beauty for about 6 weeks to 2 months now (yes, the 30 day supply really did last me that long!), and I have seen amazing results. My number one praise is that I have had those dark circles under my eyes my whole life---I have very translucent, fair Irish skin, and they have actually lightened several shades! Not only that, but my skin is really soft, and I rarely get the breakouts that used to be a weekly occurance. I think it might have something to do with how gentle but thorough the clenser is. Anyway, just last week I ran out of the clenser, and it put me in a panic! I admit, I'm hooked, I think it's an amazing product that I will continue to buy, phony melon or not.

I have not yet tried out the product but I am definitely curious, because of all the positive reviews and the infommercial. On the other hand I am very skeptical about the product because of all the failures with the other ones that I have tried. One issue that constantly rattles me is I've seen that it works on fair skin consumers but what about darker skin individuals. How does it react to their skin, this does play a factor in if I should get it or not.

I recently worked on the infomercial for this product. I hadn't heard of it before, but went in suspecting to be given a "sale" like many other beauty products-- all that claim big results, but show very little. I went in skeptical. I came out a believer. It was amazing to see how truly passionate Cindy Crawford was about this product. I'm not talking about when she was delivering information during the taping. I am talking about the time when the cameras weren't rolling and she told us (the audience)about all the time and effort she and Dr. Sebagh put into this. She really uses this herself! She mentioned once that it would be pretty silly if she spent all this time coming up with a skin care line and still had to buy something else! I also sat next to a woman who was there because she'd used it for a year and was giving a testimonial. She too, even while cameras weren't rolling, raived about the line! Still cautiously optimistic, I left with my product and was eager to go home and try it. It has been a couple of months now, and I LOVE IT! My skin is smooth, it glows, it feels so supple and youthful. I am definitely going to be a long time client.

This is helpful, b/c I was wondering how it might work on really problematic oily skin like mine. Unfortunately it's the same problem I had with sheer cover: I really wanted to try it, the $30 wasn't a problem, but I don't want to keep being charged for shipments every 3 months. I just got rid of my gymn memebership. And back in the '90s I promised myself I'd never join another CD club. I don't want more monthly payments. If you're out there "guthy-renker," give me the option of just buying something once and I'll bite. I'm off to ebay to see if I can buy just one of these items one time.

You can purchase the 90 day supply as-is...no auto-delivery. I hate that as well, and the 90 day supply was a great answer for me. In addition that it's about the same money (30 day supply times 3) but only one shipping charge...and with their, I think, 90 day money back guarantee, it made sense to me to try it. I love it, incidentally. I tend to have Rosacea and it is wonderful for my skin. I still break out just as much, that is the one thing it doesn't effect positively. I am 30 with very fair combination skin. It does not effect my (I wear contacts) eyes at ALL and takes off my waterproof mascara in a matter of seconds, and thoroughly. My pillow cases always showed a residue from other eye makeup removers. My skin is SO dry I need to use two pumps of the nighttime or daytime moisturizer, unfortunately. Still, it has lasted me the 90 days so far...I am running out on some of the products, namely the moisturizers, but have plenty of the eye serum left, as a little goes a long way. I don't care for the scent of the Décolleté creme so I don't use it often. The masque is great and does not overdry. I have seen how my mother's skin aged, not very well to be honest, so since high school I have used high end products to help delay aging. My skin shows aging very easily. I am pleased with this product, nothing is heavy or greasy, the scent is very light and pleasant. I don't think I have seen any change in my skin. However, I feel moisturized perfectly and clean (still need to seriously exfoliate though, as usual). My eyes do not feel dry or irritated, and I have been able to cut down on the number of products I use since it removed heavy duty eye makeup. My crows feet are growing ever deeper, but as I said, I know genetics are a big part of it for me. Who knows how I'd age without this product.

I've been using the products for just over a week. Haven't noticed any difference yet, but it's probably too soon to tell. However, I doubt it could possibly have the same effect that Cindy Crawford receives from Dr. Sebagh at his office so I'll probably cancel my order. I've had the best results with Cellex-C products, although they're ALOT more expensive that Meaningful Beauty.

My experience of MeaningfulBeauty is the worst of the worst. I watched the infomercial in Dec and was very interested with the product. So I ordered the sample for 29.99. Unfortunately, the product was not as good as they said,it burned my skin and I started having acnes after using it. Additionally, in the commercial they said that this product is made from a rare French melon. So the whole product should be made in France. Check out the label, it's made in California!!!! Big liars! And be cautious, once you place an order, you automatically agree that you want to be on the auto order list. They will send you new product regularly without informing you and charge you $103.29 each time. Some body, stop and punish this completely unethical company!

I am curious about this product, and thinking of making a purchase. I have never really had any skin issues, but as I am now in my late 30's I am noticing more wrinkles. I haven't heard a lot of ladies mentioning having noticed results in diminishing laugh lines, crows feet, lines around eyes, etc. Anyone had some good results in that area?
